Might have to check out the cartoon. I don't really remember that at all.

In the original timeline (before Marty or Doc started time travelling), Clara went over a cliff and died, which is why the ravine is called "Clayton Ravine" and why Marty knows about the history in timeline he comes from.

When Doc initially ended up in 1885, he altered history because he volunteered to pick Clara up from the train station, so that accident wound up never happening. It's like how Marty altered history by getting hit by the car instead of his father in the first movie.

Doc didn't realize that Clara's accident was where the ravine got its name. At least not until afterwards. And I guess he figured it was ok to fall for her, since she wasn't supposed to be around anymore anyway. Plus he was crazy in love with her from the start. Then Buford killed him and Clara had that tombstone made up for him

That didn't change when Marty showed up in 1885, because even though Doc didn't pick her up at the train station, they still ended up saving her.

Doc wouldn't have even found out that Clara was supposed to be killed in the original timeline. He only makes the connection when Marty tells him the story of how the ravine got its name after he goes back.

But yeah, there are three timelines in 1885. One that happened before either went back. One that happened when just Doc went back. And the third when Marty goes back.

In the video game a fourth shows up after
Edna Strickland accidently burns down the town in 1876.

This discussion is making my head hurt.

Wasn't that November 12, 1955?

*turns in his BTTF fan card to danoyse* I guess I do not need this anymore and should change my user name as I cannot BELIEVE I forgot it was the 5th when Marty arrived in 1955 but it was the 12th when the lightning storm.

*adds another  for good measure*

It was. So Dave is a liar.

But, he always wears a suit to the office, so he's not all bad.

too be fair I was tired after work and I got the dates wrong, and yes, I always wear a suit to the office ;).

So the end of Back to the future always confused me., Did Doc learn nothing from messing with time at the end by taking a women out of time and building another time machine to go into the past with?

But...he figured, what the hell? Can't keep a good scientist down. Plus he had to go get Einstein and give that picture to Marty. :cwink:

He didn't take Clara out of anything - she died in the original timeline, before he showed up in 1885 and rescued her.

And it was November 12th, not January 12th. :oldrazz:

Although Doc arrived in 1885 on January 1st...so there was still a BTTF anniversary this week.

mother*censored* boy am I OFF the wall today, for some STUPID reason I thought it was Nov not Jan when I posted that last night after a long day at work.

In the novelization of BTTF 3, Doc actually suggests pushing Clara over the cliff to keep history intact...but within the same sentence realizes that's a terrible idea. :wow: :funny:

Oh my! :funny:

That's what confused you? Heck...I'm STILL trying to figure out how he made a time traveling TRAIN in the old west. :P

Well probably from some created tech from designs off the delorean in delgo cave.

I always figured it was because the ending would be too depressing for a comedy series if it didn't happen.

Speaking of the BTTF cartoon...Universal Orlando used to have cutouts of the cartoon versions by the BTTF3 train:

And yes, that's me in the picture. In 1992. Wearing a fanny pack.

yeah, marty had no closure for doc. He didnt think he would ever say goodbye to him properly.

At the time this promotion was going on, I was outgrowing Happy Meals. Me and pop would go to Mickey Ds sometimes, Happy Meal? Heck no! Gimme a McDLT and a Sprite.

But I sure got a couple of these marvels.

I had two Deloreans, and one Marty on the hoverboard.

I had one of those sparking deloreans but having moved alot since a kid i probably lost it a long long time ago.

I got two of those Deloreans, so I can have one with Doc hanging out the window, and the other, I took Doc out, and filled in the hole with putty, and painted it over to blend in, so I can have a Delorean without a goofy Doc.

I got out of my mother's womb along with a brother.
