The 'Back To The Future' Appreciation Thread

I think he just... changed his mind. It was his time-travelling adventures that allowed him to find the love of his life. The speech he gives to Marty is also a pretty good indication that he just decided to live his life and stop being so mathematical about it.

Probably true. It just comes across odd when watching all three in a row.

Watched all three with my girlfriend in two days. I still love most of it. The only really glaring part for me is the train ending. It seems to go against everything the Doctor learned about the dangers of time travel and seems like a glaring plot hole.

I always took his final speech to Marty as him speaking from his heart and as his friend as opposed to a scientist and his brain.

Doc is in love and he's happy. He's telling Marty to do the same and the future will work itself out.

I love all 3 but the first one is still one of my absolute favourites. I think it's probably the film I have seen the most times out of everything..

Damn, that thing gave me a headache reading it!

Yeah, it's a pretty trippy article!! I think the mystery person who wanders in front of the Twin Pines Mall sign in the background just as Doc throws the gun to the ground is just a stagehand or somebody who didn't know they'd show up on film, but it does make a sort of sense to say, that's 1955 Marty coming back and watching Doc get shot. But then it gets complicated from there!

Yeah, that was the only part of the trilogy i hated too. It just seemed too over the top and too Hollywoody. I wish there would have been a cleverer way Doc had contacted Marty in 1985.

I love how daring the second one was.

I love the second one for really expanding the time traveling and its concepts and the dangers it carries.

Having them return to 1955 and seeing the events of the first movie from a new perspective was absolute genius idea.

I bought all 5 episodes of the game today.

How is that game Antman? I still need to play them myself.

Yes, that's why I like the second one. Is like, 'Hey! we have a time machine!!, let's really take advantage of time travel'. The fact that everything that happens is also tied to the first movie, is all even better.

Part III gets back to the tone of Part I, where they are stranded at one point in time. It's also much more Doc-oriented, which was neccesary to ground the character and not making him such a one-dimensional generic scientist.

I mean, I can talk hours about this movies, the 3 of them are my favorite movies of all time. All 3 of them, yes.

Agreed about the 3rd one as well. Loved how they went back to basics by having them reside in one timeline. With all the craziness that happened in the 2nd one it was nice to close it out with more of 'wind down' for the audiences to just settle in and catch their breath.

I also loved how Doc finally got his time to shine and we got to see a more 'human' side of his personality.

Seriously, I love this trilogy. It's perfect.

This trilogy kicks all kinds of ass. The second one's easily my favourite (I think that's an unpopular opinion, right?)

I don't think it's that unpopular. Most people side with the first or second. Most people don't even like the third. I think saying the third is your favorite would be an unpopular opinion.

I love the third. I have a hard time saying which one I like the most. It really is whatever mood I'm in.

Oh, okay. Well screw those people, I like the third, too.

...

Though yeah, not as much as the first two.

It's fun. It's a point and click game but it's really enjoyable for fans. Just interacting with all the characters and seeing all the nods to the series is a treat.

As I got older, I started to appreciate Part III a lot more. The setting, all those vintage objects and clothing, and the fact that it happens in the same locations as Parts I and II (specially around the Clock Tower) is just fantastic.

I've always loved part III. I just love the entire trilogy. It really is my favorite movie trilogy, by far. No contest.

IF I were forced to rank them it'd probably be:

2, 3 and 1.

Keep in mind though that I pretty much rank them all the same. For me the quality never dips for any of them. They're pretty much on the same level in terms of quality for me.

What I appreciate the most about this series is that each movie isn't a carbon copy of one another. They're each self contained stand alone stories but flow very well within the context of a movie trilogy.

For me it's too tough to choose a favorite.

I kind want a new animated series after playing the game.

My ranking would be: 2, 1, 3.

Though the timetravel rules in part 2 are consistent, I still like how they eventually went back to the past and that there are 2 Marty's back in the past at the school's prom.

If I had to rank them it'd be 1, 3, and then 2. 2 loses some points for going back to 1955. I enjoy 3 a little more than 2 because it doesn't rely as much on the first.
