Yes it does, because in that case or Fantastic Four reboot, if they do what they intend to do, it's just doing it for the sake of doing it, so minorities can relate or something.

Create new characters, I have no problem with it, but don't make established characters suddenly of another race, it doesn't make sense, it's like for Spider-Man, they created Miles Morales, as long as they don't suddenly turn Peter Parker asian, or african-american, or whatever, it's fine.

It's a question of principle.
And a lot of fans whine and complain that Miles "isn't the true Spider Man" and that "Peter Parker is the only REAL Spider Man." They also complain that Miles is just Marvel "pandering or being PC." So, you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. They really can't win either way.

Yeah, because it's freaking hard. People keep saying "just create new characters" like that's all there is to it, but it's much easier said than done. It takes a bunch of different factors all coming together to make a character truly popular. There have been MANY really well-written/likeable characters that still didn't catch on, because there's more to it than that. You almost have to be more lucky than good. And also, it's once again bears repeating, what fundamentally aspect about Iris's characterization/personality is altered by Iris being black. The answer is nothing at all, because her being white isn't ultimately important to who she is as a character, it's that simple.

John Diggle says hi. It's a lot easier to make new characters for TV than to sell comics with them.

I was all ready to hate this being shoehorned into arrow, but... i adore him :( and i'm totally straight, at least i thought i was. Awesome debut.

If I had my way, Barry and Wally would be Flash together - Barry watches over Central with Wally watching over Keystone.

If I had my way, all of the human Green Lanterns would be allowed to do their jobs simultaneously. Sector 2814 is a big place. There's plenty to be done across five or six Lanterns.

Sadly, I don't run things. And now we have to have this stupid division nonsense that drives me nuts. Yes, I have opinions and biases that I lean towards, but I cannot honestly say with a straight face that I hate the characters that aren't my favorite. I most certainly don't want them written out of continuity.

We'll see how things go with the show. I've got a sinking suspicion that they're going to adhere to the New 52 line of things and thus Wally won't be showing up in any large capacity. But there is a glimmer of hope in that Iris will be portrayed as the primary love interest.

Any news on the Flash pilot being green lighted? Can't seem to find anything

The pilot greenlit in July when it was meant to be (backdoor pilot, serves the same purpose) Episode 20 of S2 of Arrow.. Instead it will have a traditional pilot set to film in March 2014.

Series order is yet to be given.

Yeah, but as long as the pilot isn't a trainwreck, I think it's a formality at this point that the series will be greenlit given Arrow's ratings.

March eh? Which means the suit should be leaking in February I imagine?

March is when they supposedly start filming. No leaks will happen until after that process has started (most likely) if leaks happen at all. They seem to keep a tighter lid on TV than movies.

If we're lucky, they might tease some concept art. That'd be pretty cool. But then again, it would attract unwarranted hate before the finished project can be seen. This can be dangerous for hardcore fans, the likes of which can be seen 'round these parts :P

I thought Gustin was serviceable enough. I think he has the potential to be better over time. He did well with what he was given, IMO. Maybe not a "perfect" choice, but I'll give him a chance.

Hope the tv pilot is decent.

If Grant Gustin dyes his hair blonde, he would resemble Barry Allen just like in the comics as if he jumped out of them. Especially in his first 1956 appearance.

I hope in the Flash pilot and spin-off that they would touch on his importance as the hero who started the silver-age of superheroism.

I don't see any similarities. But I'm not really bothered by it.

I'm liking Gustin as Barry so far.

His whole awkward nice guy thing's a bit of a turnaround from how much of a smarmy weasel he was on Glee, so I guess that shows he's a decent actor.

very neato. kinda surprised they went the traditional origin route in this ep.

The particle accelerator did something weird to the chemicals in Barry's lab

That's it! Gimme my Flash series now! Have Grant Gustin play Flash on both TV and Film.

I REALLY want this Barry (and of course Ollie) for the movieverse now.

Alright. Tonight's episode was awesome. Totally sold on this guy as Flash, looking forward to the show, I'd also be totally fine with him being Flash in the live action JL film. I did notice something happened with the particle accelerator that made like the chemicals rise or something but I was very happy to see his origin left in tact. Also, did anyone else catch Linda Park on TV? And she was Asian! That was awesome....but it also pisses me off in a sad way because they are keeping Linda Park a TV reporter (and Asian) like she is in the comics but are going to change Iris West completely and make her black and a psychologist. Disappointing but still interested to see where it goes....I'll just try and pretend it's like an "Ultimates" comic but with DC characters. Could still be good.

Anyway that was awesome, I really like Gustin and hope they keep him as Flash.

I hope the super speed effects will be a cross between Smallville and Man of Steel. I want to see Grant Gustin and Henry Cavill together.

Can you guys imagine...we get Gustin as Flash, have Charlie Hunnam as Aquaman (if that rumor is true which I hope it is), Cavill as Superman...I'd be so stoked.

Hunman as Aquaman?! Man that would be awesome! Gustin definitely needs to be Flash in the JLA film.
