Well, I like both. But I still want them to be separate, so they can keep doing their own thing. Heck, I would want the Arrow-verse to eventually, a few seasons down the line, get their own Superman and Justice League.

I don't know about that... with their budget, I don't think they can pull it off, Smallville tried and the results were pretty mediocre, but who knows.

If they did connect the universe's I'd love to see a scene like this:

The heroes other than GA don't need to appear often, but once in awhile it'd be nice to see them come in when things get beyond GA's control.

Be kind of a Deus Ex Machina.

Anytime the **** gets to real he calls Clark.

And anytime he doesnt people would be asking "Why doesnt he just ask Superman for help?"

I've never understood the whole "why doesn't Superman show up and help," I thought the answer was simple. Because it is not his show, the audience can accept so many things like recasts of actors in a show or slight continuity errors, but they can't grasp that other superheroes won't show up in another show or movie? It's simple, Superman will never show up in Arrow whether it is in the same universe or not is because it is not his show. They could reference him or show a clip on tv and it would be fine, that is all that is needed.

:whatever:

"Green Lantern: The Animated Series" produced by your idol, Bruce Timm, was pretty good and precisely, it had character development and emotional depth, specially with characters like Aya and red lantern Razer. And it received good reviews too:

A very solid 7.9/10 at IMDb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1724587/

Yeah, like Burton was producer for Batman Forever. Aya and Razer were two boring uninteresting characters I guarantee you I never tuned in to watch. They had about as much to do with Green Lantern as they did Clone Wars. Terrible show and I am glad it was canceled. Does not hold a candle to any of the Timmiverse shows and wasn't anything like the GL comics.

^^

Yeah, just a producer...

WRONG!

Bruce’s role is a lot like mine, but because he’s busy with the DTV’s and other projects, it’s just a little more spaced out. Jim and I pitch every story to him. That gives him a chance to spot any story problems or make suggestions to plus things. He does the same for animatics. He’s very involved with the post process, ie, approving final lighting, cutting episodes to time and guiding the sound mixes. I’ve learned a lot about the post process while working with him.

One thing Bruce is still heavily involved with is design. Hardly any drawing or painting gets approved without him signing off. You can tell it still means a lot to him.

If the series had so many good reviews is because it was good, haters are just a minority. And it was cancelled because of poor toy sales according to Bruce Timm:

Bruce Timm, like many of us, was disappointed with Cartoon Network’s decision to not pick-up Green Lantern the Animated Series for second season since he said it was one the best things he’s ever worked on, and considering his career, that’s saying something. Anyway, I asked if it really came to down to the lack of merchandising sales, as Bleeding Cool had previously reported regarding Young Justice. He said yes. Since the Ryan Reynolds’ film, retailers were stuck with film merchandise that just wasn’t selling. This lead to those retailers being very reluctant, if not downright refusing, to any carry merchandise from the Animated Series. Therefore, a lack of sales on that front lead to a lack revenue for an admittedly expensive CG Series.

I'm a huge fan of Hal Jordan and the Timmverse, and I still thought this show sucked

Razer and Aya weren't strong characters imo, they should've focused more on preexisting story lines. Basically they should've just adapted a streamlined version of Geoff Johns' GL run

I kinda liked the Larfleeze episode, it had some good moments, but the show was brought down by the childishness

Timm may have had a hand in the show but it was not his baby and it showed. And of course anyone is going to talk whatever involvement Timm has in a project up because they want to ride his coattails because of how good his projects usually are.

I loved the Timmiverse but GL: the animated series was terrible. I don't even look at it as though they made a GL show it's so bad to me. I was expecting the same excellent treatment of GL in that series that both Batman and Superman got in their animated series. I was very disappointed and anyone who seriously thought this was on par with those shows is really kidding themselves and trying hard to see it as what they wanted it to be and not what it actually is.

I thought it was fun and I liked the characters.

This exactly. I agree with all of this. Had it done that I guarantee it would still be on. Why they did not do this is beyond me. People may even want to buy more toys if it's about something they care about. GL: the animated series strikes me as existing solely for that purpose (re: "toyetic") unfortunately as well. :-/

Static Shock>YJ

Loved Static so much

I loved Static as a kid. Great stuff. Gotta agree, maybe just the nostalgia talking, but I preferred that to YJ as well, lol. It was a pretty good show all things considered, and whatever your feelings on it, still better than any of the crap Marvel's put out the last 20 years.

Seriously, DC needs to get its **** together with animation again. Since they are so set on doing kiddie shows, they really ought to look into adapting Yale Stewart's Little Leaguers thing...that'd be awesome. I don't mind stuff like Tiny Titans to keep around for the real young kids, either, but I want to see more shows like JL/JLU in addition to them.

As much as I love JL8, I'd prefer that it stay in its original medium. I think it would lose something moving into animation (just imagine if Calvin and Hobbes was animated).

Though I could see amazing things happen with a scene like this:

How hard it is to understand that you are just in the minority, most people liked the show, period! It's like when you claim that The Flash is the best superhero show ever, when is rated even lower (7,1/10) than the GL series at IMDb.

You idealize the past too much, the Timmverse was very good, but far from perfect, too many filler episodes, too simplistic character designs... the best series are more serialized, complex and have better animation, like Avatar:The Last Airbender (9,0/10 at IMDb). Now you're going to say that sucked too! :funny:

IMDB is not a great barometer for what is and isn't good.

^^ Then show a better one... thousands vote and rate movies and series there, is more representative than a small group of critics.

I don't feel like looking for another one and talking about that because it take this thread further off topic.

Was anyone a tad dissapointed Barry didn't have a Bowtie? It's not HUGE but would have been a fun nod.

I'm excited for a Flash live action show, but, I would LOVE an animated show. After the direct to dvd film…my goodness!

I was thinking, if they're going to keep things more grounded, then they may take a thing or two from the Kid Flash suit. What!? The traditional cowl doesn't cover his face well enough (unlike Batman's), I know, I know, the psycho-rigid purists are going to whine till the end of time, but the same way Green Arrow's traditional hat and little mask were not believable to conceal his identity (the hood took care of that), Kid Flash's goggles would conceal Barry's identity better, plus it could integrate a communications device, which could be very practical (and justify the wings too). Now let the haters hate!! ;)

Not everyone who disagrees with you is a psycho-rigid purist or a hater.

What's the mad attraction people have for goggles? They look awful and they break the carnal rule of live-action CB costumes: You can't see the actor's eyes.Hence why Hawkeye didn't wear 'em in the movie and Spidey, always gets his mask torn off.

The wings/bolts on the side of the mask have pretty much always functioned as two way communicators. Goggles look goofy and the Flash has one of the best and speak costumes in comics so just use it.

Yeah, it kinda invalidates an argument if one starts insulting people for disagreeing with you without anyone having said anything yet.
