Arrow The Barry Allen/The Flash Thread

After reading most of this thread I see how my opinion and expectations are completely different than most of yours.

I loved Seth Gabel as the Count and overall I love the serious tone of Arrow.
I'm a comic book fan, but I find most villains from Ga/Flash comics completely inappropriate and ridiculous for a TV show.
It will be totally off-putting for me if they just copy them for the show.

What I expect in a Flash TV show:

A mature/ dark themed show with grown up topics and ideas. Barry may have his cool/light personality at moments, but when things a serious, I want him to be serious. Something like RDJ's Tony Stark. He's witty, funny and arrogant, however when the situation needs it, he's serious.

I would hate to see a Flash who keeps cracking jokes and saying puns every minute of every episode.
As for the costume, my wish it that it looks believable and inspiring. References to the comics are fine (I love them), but direct copying is not something I wanna see. And please, do not give him that ridiculous ring.
Yeah, I know it's cool in the comics, but on TV, a want a more Arrowish/The Dark Knight tone to it.

If I want to watch pretty colours, lame villains and a pun contest, I can always rewatch the Avengers.
And please, please, no robots.

Most of these costumes will work for me as a viewer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voywzUpwp9M

I'm both in love and afraid of the idea that the Flash is going to be in Arrow/Same universe. I hope they manage to both do him justice and yet keep realistic feel to it.

Copy-pasting villains will not work for me. I prefer realistic characters that are inspired from the villains (Count Vertigo), or the way Nolan handled Scarecrow/Bane.
Seeing Captain Cold as mr. Freeze from Batman and Robin is not the way to go in my opinion.

I think personality wise the flash will be lighthearted and pure and have a sense of humor, but if he's experiencing a tragedy then obviously he wont joke around about it. ALSO do you guys think flash should wear the gold/yellow boots??? I personally like them but i don't know how it would look in live action, everything else about the flash's costume would work im like 50/50 on the gold boots though. It probably could,, idk.

For those wanting to check out the 90's series, I saw it at Walmart for ten bucks.

Well, the original Flash series is my all time favorite show,so I'd love if they tried to take that tone. But I'm expecting a CW take. (mopey lead, villains stripped of their "colorfulness",Dark & gritty sets, etc)

think he's gonna need some new boots.

I'm 7 episodes in and its fast become one of my favourite TV shows ever. I had seen some episodes as a kid but my memory of watching them then is fuzzy. I mean some have some majorly cheesy villains and/or storylines but for some reason even with that those episodes are enjoyable too. I really wish it had gotten at least another season or a TV movie sequel.

I remember watching the show as a kid and being obsessed with it.:woot: I was absolutely devastated when it was canceled after only one season.:csad:

To me,it was the epitome of what a CB show should be.Serious, yet fun.Colorful and imaginative. Not getting bogged down in "real world" or soap opera stuff.Would that they could recapture that feeling again.

I think The Cape tried for that tone. And I had high hopes for that show.Unfortunately, things didn't quite work out.....

I still can't believe the network did nothing to help it. I guess they didn't realise the gem they actually had.

Totally agree, I really think it might be the best Superhero TV show.

It was truly a show ahead of it's time. Each episode was cinematic.Like a mini-movie.If it came out today, there would've been a strong internet campaign to save it,I imagine.

They had great takes on the villains.Mark Hamill was exceptional as The Trickster.I remember watching the episode for the first time and thinking "Wait- is that Mark Hamill?" I was so used to thinking of him as Luke Skywalker,I didn't know he had it in him.:funny:

I haven't got to the Trickster episodes yet but I barely remember them as a kid. My memories are really fuzzy.

It was certainly a show ahead of its time.

I really despise the whole concept. This has major "jump the shark" potential for Arrow. Now, I wouldn't mind a separate Flash series, quite the contrary, but not connected to the Arrowverse. It simply doesn't gel and the "Marvel movie" argument doesn't gel as well. Iron Man is intrinsically far more fantastical than a guy with a bow and arrow. Of course super powers work with a sci-fi heavy concept like Iron Man but Arrow has been done in a way that is too grounded in reality. The Flash in the Arrowverse is going to really stretch my suspension of disbelieve and I fear this might really kill the show.

It was only a matter of time before they shifted to more fantastical elements in Arrow.I don't think it's cause for concern. As it will likely be gradual.

I'd be happy if DC gets a shared TV universe that will ultimately culminate in a theatrical Justice League film.

I love those hippie drug dealers

Ha ha I didn't care for that guy as a villain but the episode had a bat moment where he vibrated through the wall. I thought it was a great way for him to discover that he can do that.

I watched Shroud of Deathladt night, thought that was one of the best episodes of the series so far.

A little behind the scenes of that episode: They originally approached Alice Cooper for the role of Lesko, but he declined stating he didn't want to play a drug dealer. He made them promise to write him a part in the 2nd season.

A 2nd season we never got.:csad:

Oh wow really? I think he'd have done it better, the guy who played it just didn't work for me.

So gutting :csad:

Should have asked Keith Richards. :woot:

I keep wondering if the new Flash shows going to be a CSI kind if show with blended sci-fi elements or not? Cause I hope it isn't just Arrow with the Flash in. I mean yeah of course they'll be in the same world but I think each show needs to have its own style IMO.

I really hope if the show succeeds that later episodes have time travel elements in aswell.

The minute that they introduced the Earthquake machine, they already started to go for the fantastical. If they really wanted to be realistic, they could have simply used a bomb.

This is an actor that i think would be a great choice for his age and playing a FBI agent with an intense expression and can play a harsh character i think that Thomas Gibson has the look for Barry Allen.
