Arrow The Barry Allen/The Flash Thread

They've made it sound like his first two (out of three) appearances will be pre-superpowers and then the third will be the pilot, essentially, so I assume he'll only be in Starling as The Flash for a short while, then move on to Central City.

I hope it works something like that. Arrow is pretty much good without powers. But even so, just having the two existing in the same universe would be kinda confusing.

I'm thinking that unless the Flash will be the only legit super powered person due to an accident, they're eventually going that way with Arrow. Which could harm the show in all honesty, I like the realistic take.

I also hope that their work on the flash show doesn't worsen Arrow in any way. I don't see the Flash really working out personally, I doubt it will attract the mainstream like Arrow has.

I think maybe something like the Tron Legacy costumes could work. It's form fitting, doesn't wrinkle like athletes gear, doesn't look like bulky armor, yet at the same time it doesn't look flimsy. It looks lightweight and fast.

Now DAT looks awesome!

I was watching a morning show here in Aus and they were in Warner Brothers Movie World in the Gold Coast.

This was the costume their Flash was wearing.

I never understood the GL/GA appeal, or how that would even work in the first place. GL is a space cop whose power is only limited to his imagination whereas GA only has a bow and arrow(s) on him.

Some people have said similar things about Batman and Superman.

The idea behind the Batman/Superman dynamic is that Batman's intellect puts him on par with a godlike being on Superman's level. It was (and still it to this day, to a certain extent) the typical "brains + brawn = completion" argument. Whatever one can't do, the other one can.

Who's to say that GL and GA don't compliment each other in a different way? Even if they don't, I honestly don't think them teaming up is any more ridiculous than Batman and Superman doing the same.

it had less to do with their powers and more to do with their ideals. Green Lantern is a space cop and represented the establishment while Green Arrow was the ultimate hippy trying to bring down the man.

This.

And it was also a way for GA to show GL (and Ganthet, who traveled with them quite a bit) the plight of the common person. His thought was that Hal and the Guardians spent too much time worrying about the 'greater good', and not enough about the good of the people they were protecting.

They DO compliment each other, they keep each other grounded from being too extreme. In the end, they were more like brothers than friends.

Hal even gave Ollie a ring 'just in case'.

I think it would be visually cool if the yellow parts and the logo on his costume are made of speed force energy...like a constant lightning/electricity effect.

Yes, GL was the representation of "the man" while GA was the uber-liberal. That's what made their dynamic so interesting. However, THIS version of Oliver Queen doesn't seem to be particularly liberal, or very political at all for that matter, at least not yet.

That'd be cool. The previous mayor was just assassinated and if Brother Blood is publically exposed as being a nutty cult leader, then this could be Oliver's chance. He could try and help the city both as GA and as Oliver Queen.

First I see him having a full season as the sole CEO of Queen Industries/Consolidated before that happens.

Eh, they really can't have a Batman like TV series without him being the billionaire playboy by day.

To be fair though, he hasn't been the billionaire playboy for a while. Both the images of Oliver and of the vigilante are slowly progressing throughout the show.

he may not have had liberal or political leanings but his enemies in the first season were predominantly rich people ruining the city.

True but without his money Oliver won't be able to afford his gadgets and replace lost equipment. Oliver for mayor seems like something that would happen after he lost his company. I would prefer him to not lose the company and go broke.
