Arrow The Barry Allen/The Flash Thread

Didn't Barry talk fast on The Batman too, if I remember correctly? The Flash talking fast thing seems to be an old joke haha....I would be lying if I said I didn't kind of dig it though. Lol.

It just goes to show that even way back, The Flash has had a fun, cool personality...there's also an old Flash song from the 60s with like a ballad about all the Justice League characters, I'll have to find it and post it up here sometime....
This was one of my fav moments from Young Justice

@0:56. I would love to see this kind of scene on the TV show :woot:

There has been a change in the CW‘s plans for The Flash. Originally, the character, played by Grant Gustin, was supposed to appear in three episodes of Arrow this season — No. 8, No. 9 and No. 20, the last one serving as a backdoor pilot directed by David Nutter. Episodes 8 and 9, in which the superhero is introduced only as his alter ego Barry Allen, have already been shot. But now the CW has opted to film a traditional standalone Flash pilot instead of doing a backdoor pilot as Episode 20 of Arrow. With Episodes 8 and 9 serving as an origin story, the plan was for The Flash character to make his debut — red costume and all — in Arrow‘s Episode 20. He will now do it in the pilot. The creative team remains the same, with Arrow co-creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg and series scribe Geoff Johns writing the pilot and Nutter, who helmed the pilot for Arrow, directing. Berlanti, Kreisberg and Nutter executive produce, with Melissa Kellner Berman co-executive producing.

The decision was made after CW brass saw cuts of Episodes 8 and 9, which have been very well received. Filming a standalone Flash pilot would allow the creators to better flesh out the superhero’s story and his world. While no longer a full-blow spinoff, The Flash still will be tethered to the Arrow universe since the the character (as Barry Allen) will first be introduced there. In light of the pilot order, it is unclear whether Episode 20 of Arrow will feature the Flash or any reference of him. The Arrow producers are expected to discuss their ideas for the episode with the CW this coming week. On Arrow, Barry Allen (Gustin) is a Central City assistant police forensics investigator who arrives in Starling to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past. A comic book fan boy, Barry is obsessed with the Arrow unaware that working with Oliver and Felicity to solve the crime has brought him right into the dangerous world of the vigilante.

Hmmm.

For one who doesn't follow Arrow, but is interested in a The Flash show, this is good news.

Grant Gustin as Barry Allen:

Getting a a mild mannered frail vibe .
Does he have a cane?
Looks like it.
Kind of a cross between Clark Kent and Donald Blake.

Pity he's not blonde. Probably to make him different from Ollie. Maybe he can be blonde in his own show.

I heard somewhere that Quicksilver is so fast the friction removes the pigment from his hair. That kinda thing.

Ollie isn't even that blonde, looks more brunette than anything. Sad he couldn't go blonde but oh well. Excited to see him in the role.

Interested in how the approach will change between the backdoor pilot they had planned and the more straightforward one they're doing now.

Yeah, Young Justice got a lot of things right. Great show. I'd love to see just a Flash show some day....even based off how they did him on Young Justice would be awesome, IMO. Great stuff.

Me too. I love that they had all of them interact in their secret identities on the show.

Gustin looks better than I'd expected him to look, I actually don't mind how his hair is/the color. I think it's close enough I guess. He looks good, I hope he does well. I for some reason get an early Carmine Infantino Barry vibe off his look in that pic for some reason.

I am excited for the tv pilot! I'd much rather watch a new Flash tv show than just about...well, anything else, lol. I only hope it is at least as good as the old 90s tv show pilot was, if it is, I'll be more than happy. :yay:

Fingers are crossed, WB.

They can't just pretend these two episodes with Barry Allen never existed, though. Even if the pilot isn't picked up (and that's a big IF), they could bring the character around a few more times.

I doubt they'd say it never happened. However it's easy enough to say 'whoops, was just Barry Allen' instead of drawing any Flash ties at all.

As for the hair color - well, if Ollie isn't blond in his own show, I suppose I can forgive Barry not being, either.

is barry short for barrence? i hope he says "tag you're it" in his last episode.

Excited to see Barry Allen in Arrow... I think it's cool that they want to do a Flash tv series. Honestly, he's one of the characters that can just work for a TV series, along with Green Arrow. Can't wait to see the costume! :D

Maybe his hair will turn blonde when he is hit by lightning? Or maybe I'm just holding out hope... D:

It could be we'll see the particle accelerator that gives Barry his powers and the last scene of him in the episode will feature him taking off on his first true Flash Sprint.

Cue the pilot for his show doing the same thing they've done with Arrow and Black Canary and reval him almost fully formed and raring to go.

It's a ballsy new style for Superhero shows, considering how unambitious Smallville and Shield have been towards their universes.

is barry short for barrence? i hope he says "tag you're it" in his last episode.

It was Barrence originally but it was changed to Bartholomew later on at some point. I always preferred Barrence personally because calling him Bartholomew means he has the same name as Bart/Impulse.

Those dishwasher gloves. :awesome:

Yeah, what was up with that I wonder, lol? Kinda reminds me of his suit in the DC vs Mortal Combat game a few years back (hated the gloves there too lol). One other thing that bugs me about The Flash in animation is that for some reason they always feel the need to change his logo. I hate that. The real three pronged one looks so much better...and we know it's not hard to animate because they did it in the 60s and the old Super friends show. So I don't get what the deal is.

So is it safe to say that we really won't see any superpowers introduced in this show, or at least for this season, if Barry doesn't become the flash in Episode 20 like originally planned?

I think we'll see Deathstroke at some point with his enhanced abilities. They also currently have the Atom's wife as a supporting character so we might see him eventually too.
