Arrow The Barry Allen/The Flash Thread

I would guess they're going with the chemical bath route as when the announcement of Barry was made they specifically noted that he isn't an alien nor a god but that he got his powers by accident when talking about how he'd get his speed.

^^ I hope they keep his origin exactly as it is in the comic books.

And it lends itself to whatever mood they want the stpry to have; dramatic, serious - even comedic if they were doing a comedy. It can be worked a number of ways (I prefer serious a la Spider-Man, etc, though).

So will the origin simply be the lightning bolt/chemical bath or will the Speed Force be behind all this?

Well you make it sound like the comics did either or. The chemical bath is what allowed Allen to tap into the speed force.

I've been reading up on Flash comics lately, starting with Flash Rebirth. I grew up with Wally West as The Flash especially with the JL/JLU cartoon but I think Barry Allen is now my favorite Flash. :woot:

I'm thankful to Geoff Johns who brought back Hal Jordan and Barry Allen into the mix.

I hope the series is awsome with many characters and cameos by other DC heroes and villains in the series. Here is a couple costume ideas

The original design is ALWAYS the best....keep it this way.

I like the first design it looks cool. I saw this online for a movie someone wanted made anyway I thought it looked nice. The armor look is all wrong for Flash I think I just think it will slow him down.

This costume is about perfect (sans chin strap, which - hey, even I'll say I don't mind here), I love how kinetic he looks, visually, something like this is what they should strive for; powerful and bold and vibrant and exciting:

And I wanted to share these because I thought they were cool (as far as different concepts and ways to portray the suit go):

And even though this Flash looks like he's roidin' on out of his suit just a little bit here, I still thought this was pretty cool looking:

Not a big fan of the nose piece, but I still thought this looked cool and reminded me of the tv show suit a little:

But, again, THIS is EXACTLY how the ear pieces should look, regardless of whatever design the rest of the suit is based off of, THESE ear pieces are the definitive ones and a MUST:

^^ They're PERFECT.

They don't look like "wings" (like Captain America, nor should they, ever!), they're perfect looking and "finny" enough, yet streamlined. That's what I want for the ear piece (or "door handles" as Mark Millar affectionately calls them).

I've been finding it hard to think of who to cast but I'd love Ryan Kwanten from True Blood. I think he has the look, he's in shape and I'm sure he can do other American accents other than the one he does on True Blood. I actally think he'd be available too as TB normally shoots later and with him only been in a handful of episodes too. By the I've they spin it off into its own show, TB may be finished anyway cause there's rumours season 7 will be the last one.

Phillip Winchester(Strike Back,Camelot,Crusoe) would be a good barry he is a good actor and only 32

Kinda weird how he looks like to completely different people in that pick. Never heard of him tbh

My pick is Kwanten, he's 5 foot 10 1/2 whuch is plenty big for the Flash. He's in greats shape and has the look.

Should Flash have the costume-ring or is that concept too silly for the DC Cinematic Universe?

Don't really like him. He's too cocky looking/seeming. Borderline *****ey somewhat. They need to cast someone who you pick up as being a "nice guy" first, then everything else second. (leaning towards more Tobey Maguire than Andrew Garfield as far as tendencies go to put it in Spidey terms, but not too much either way (and no crying :o ))

I've been running back and forth with this one....and to be honest, I don't mind whether they do or don't. I think it can work if they want it too, even though I always thought it was a bit silly at first, but if it's not there, I'm also okay with it.

My only real thing with The Flash ring has always been that I thought him having a giant ass lightning Flash logo on it was a bad idea if he was trying to hide his secret identity. Just make it a gold ring with a circle or whatever on it if you must have something and keep it like that, nothing conspicuous looking, so if they use it I don't think there should be The Flash logo on it.

I go into some detail about that here:

Hell no! Lol....Cavill, no offense to him, doesn't have enough personality for The Flash. He's not "average guy" enough. They need someone you buy as more of a "regular dude", guy next door type.

Fair enough but I don't see that, he's just confident which Barry Allen is too. I think he'd be a perfect fit. Also you can't just go on how he acts in True Blood that's just one character.
