Not a big fan of the nose piece, but I still thought this looked cool and reminded me of the tv show suit a little:

Because it is the TV show costume?

Anyhow, I'd rather someone with a long face. Not with a powerful jaw. I never really see Barry as being that kind of guy with a powerful jaw.

Fair enough but I don't see that, he's just confident which Barry Allen is too. I think he'd be a perfect fit. Also you can't just go on how he acts in True Blood that's just one character.

True.

It's not the tv show costume exactly. The tv show costume didn't have those kind of boots and the ear pieces on the tv show suit are different (this suit's ear pieces look more wing like and are three pronged, the tv show suit's ear pieces were two pronged and better looking (IMO)). :o

You gotta admit, The Flash tv show suit was great. For its time, and I'd daresay even compared to some of the suits we've seen in movies today (especially if you look at the previous and subsequent attempts with Flash (re: '70s Legends of the Superheroes and the failed "Friends" JLA pilot from the mid '90s).

But it's obviously based on the TV show costume.

I still say some light armour is needed.

I really hope not. Armor today is what the rubber sculpted molded muscle suits were in the 90s.

Everyone's doing it. (the "Iron Man/Batman" thing)

Wasn't is designed by the same guys that did the Burton Batman suit?

It was really good. My only fault with it was the fact they made him stupidly muscular. Bit of a tone down and it would have looked better.

The TV series costume was very well done, it actually looked better on screen than it does in pics.

I really think DC had a winner with that show but the network that showed it put it on a bad night (I think it went up against the Simpsons) and then it got moved around. Shame because it was in a great position by the series end. I really ca t remember what channel it aired on here in the UK but I remember watching it as a kid.

I don't remember for sure if it was the same team that made the Burton Batman suit, but I know the suit was designed by the guy who did the Rocketeer suit.

And I agree, if they just toned down some of the stupidly muscular look, it would have probably been perfect. John Wesley Shipp was a pretty muscular guy though to begin with, but I could even buy the muscles on it because th explanation they gave for it was plausible.

They did, that show was great. It started really strong as far as ratings went, but they had to compete with the Cosby Show and constant interruptions by the Gulf War coverage, they kept moving the time slot around for it, even the people who really wanted to watch it didn't know what time it was on at what week. Really a damn shame.

I've been running back and forth with this one....and to be honest, I don't mind whether they do or don't. I think it can work if they want it too, even though I always thought it was a bit silly at first, but if it's not there, I'm also okay with it.

My only real thing with The Flash ring has always been that I thought him having a giant ass lightning Flash logo on it was a bad idea if he was trying to hide his secret identity. Just make it a gold ring with a circle or whatever on it if you must have something and keep it like that, nothing conspicuous looking, so if they use it I don't think there should be The Flash logo on it.

I go into some detail about that here:

I've been playing around with ideas for a Flash movie for a while. I'd explain the ring like this:

When Barry was a kid, his father introduced him to comics featuring the original Flash. Barry became such a fan that his dad got him a Flash fan club decoder ring.

So after his mother is killed and his father goes to jail for it, the ring takes on a double meaning for Barry; his admiration for Jay and his love for his father. When he eventually replaces it with the costume ring, no one gives it a second thought because he always had that geeky ring with him.

So in addition to carrying his suit, it also reminds him to drink his ovaltine. :woot:

^^ Hmm....not bad, I like that kind of. ^^ But what about for people who haven't known Barry all his life, people like his coworkers and things? Or anyone he runs into in public and talks to? What would they make of the ring with The Flash logo on it? That's why I'm saying if they do it, they should leave the logo off of it, or I would at least. Lol.

This is kind of off topic, but...I just watched an episode of the old Flash TV series and I enjoyed the hell out of it. I really loved the tone of it and I hope the new series will be able to match it.

I'd assume the same reason no one ever notices the ring on Hal Jordan's finger.

Or you could say Barry's emergence as the Flash sparks a public interest in the classic Flash, as well as a reestablishing of the fan club. This could be what eventually leads to the building of the Flash Mueseum. So now more people will have rings, then Barry's problem would be trying to convince people that he liked the Flash before it was cool. lol

I sincerely hope they leave out the Garrick element, its a lot of backstory to have to tell for that to work. I think Flash's story should be as streamlined as possible. Barry should be the first superhero to go by Flash. Garrick and the JSA shouldn't exist in a cinematic universe. I just think it over complicates things. I love the JSA in the comics though... don't get me wrong. I think the JSA works best in comics.

I know people are conflicted about this show violating the no supernatural elements thing, but maybe the Flash won't have super powers and will just be the world's fastest man through normal means and he just decides to take up crime fighting. Like if Usain Bolt decided to become a vigilante.

That's a joke, it would be terrible

I think Scott Porter would own this.

I have a really cool idea for the suit but I don't have the time nor skill to even attempt a visual explanation for it...:(

That's right was trying to remember what Michael Bailey had said on Views From The Longbox.

Hess I forgot about him :wow:

Yes gotta be Scott Porter, he's one if those actors I think was born to do a superhero role.

You can keep Jay Garrick story by explaining he is the comic book character Barry based his name on. Just like in the comics. Simple and elegant explanation. Don't really need to go the JSA route like Smallville did.

I also like Scott Porter for the Flash. He has that everyman look to him. I also think Joshua Jackson could be a potential actor for the show even if he looks nothing like Barry.

What's the word on casting for the show? Does anyone know?

I'm so down with Porter as Flash. Great choice. Joshua Jackson would also be good

If Jay Garrick exists in a Flash series (movie or otherwise), I've always said it should be on earth 2/another dimension or reality or whatever. The Post Crisis version where all the golden age heroes exist along with the silver age heroes never made much sense to me, especially as we got into the 90s/2000s; Jay Garrick and the others suddenly could no longer be 50 and 60 year olds, but in their 80s and 90s. It's just too much and too old for it to be plausible, IMO. Only way that even remotely works with the WW2 characters is if they are interacting with "silver age" characters who exist in the 60s and 70s. Other than that I say different realities for all of them.

Scott Porter just might be my favorite for Flash on tv. If this were a movie, Gosling would be my pick, but Porter would do really well as Flash on tv. Plus he has enough chops to not embarrass himself alongside Cavill and whoever the new Batman is.

Porter was my Flash pick a few years ago before Gosling blew up, I still love the idea
