So is it safe to say that we really won't see any superpowers introduced in this show, or at least for this season, if Barry doesn't become the flash in Episode 20 like originally planned?

I dunno I thought they were headed that way with looking for the corpses of the japanese soldiers that were experimented on.

Maybe he gets the powers at the end of his second episode.

No offense to anyone named Barrence, but that is one of the stupidest names I've ever heard in my life.

Great to hear we are getting the full first Flash experience in his own show. I think he looks great as Barry Allen and will be a great Flash

Anyone else think Gustin and Andrew Garfield could be brothers?

^ LOL I thought the same thing.

Spider-Man and Flash are both the everyman of their respective universe. They're also both brilliant scientists. So it makes sense. :yay:

It's scary how much they look alike. :funny: Their characters don't even dress all that differently!

Because the Hype is clearly the place to lecture fashion sense. :o

He should put that jacket back into his ring :D

Guessing DC editorial felt the same way. :o

Not much worse than "Wallace" though...Wally's full first name. :P

You're seriously equating the name Wallace with "Barrence"?

Seriously? :o

I got a Garfield vibe from him too in the pics, lol. ('Cept less *****ey - Maguire > Garfield on that subject, btw)

Also consider this trivia:

- both like comic books
- both got their powers from accidents
- both lost their love interest to their archnemesis at one point
- both invented technologically advanced devices for their costumes (Flash ring and police scanner in ear pieces, Spider-Man's web shooters and belt)
- both dated and married red heads

Grant Gustin as Barry Allen:

Yikes, I didn't expect Flash to have an Ollie build, but Gustin has the full-blown pencil-neck look going on there. Lift just a few weights for the role, kiddo.

Regardless, I'm still hyped for this. I've never cared for Arrow, but a Flash show could be amazing. When I hear about the first appearance of Grodd, I'm going to explode with happiness.

I'm not sure how they can effectively translate talking Gorillas to the small screen much less the big screen especially in a grounded setting like Arrow's. Unless they take a Rise of the Planet of the Apes type approach where the Gorillas who do live in a mass community informally called a "Gorilla city" suddenly come into contact with the same thing which gave people superpowers and then became more sentient?

Thoughts?

Well, he gets his powers in Episode 9, so its still headed in that direction.

Have them having been Ivo's original test subjects. You could have them having been the Japanese scientists tests.

Hmmm...partical accelerator. Super-soldier serum.

Maybe Barry's origin will combine the two? The blurb said that the theft is going to remind Oliver of something that happened on the island. Which at this point means the boat.

It was Barrence originally but it was changed to Bartholomew later on at some point. I always preferred Barrence personally because calling him Bartholomew means he has the same name as Bart/Impulse.
They could have used Barrington.
Maybe they wanted to link him to Bart.
All in the family and all of that.

With a tv budget, I don't think they're going to do talking gorillas. Maybe even the movies will avoid them to keep it more grounded and avoid "Planet of the Apes" comparisons and jokes, we'll see.

I won't be surprised if movie Barry Allen is older (near 30) and they cast a different actor. People wanting a shared universe should take into account potential sheduling conflicts between the tv series and the movies, continuity issues that could affect the quality of both, and last but not least, I don't think they're going to use the same actors from Arrow, usually movie directors pick the actors for their movies. Hopefully, we'll have the answer soon enough.

I saw that. :argh:

Indeed. Peter is not much of a comic book guy though. But he has geeked out over working with other real-life superheroes (real-life to him, not us) such as Captain America.

Flash is a really underrated character IMO. He's got everything that the GA would find appealing - personality, humor, relatability, cool powers, and intelligence (I always saw him as the smartest of the original 7 JL members after Batman). It sucks that all the GA knows of him is his look and his name due to how much WB sucks at doing anything non-Batman. :argh:

What I hate the most is that right now all the GA really know of The Flash is Big Bang Theory. God, I hate that show, if not just got that reason.

I think many people not into comic books know the Flash from the 90' TV Show.
