The Dark Knight The Batcave: The Official Thread

It's supposed to be his headquarters; it should look the part. Not over-the-top, but it should be comprehensive; it needs a gym, a forensics area, a computer bay, things like that. It shouldn't look like a barren cave with a computer sitting on a desk.

I'd kinda like it to be a bit darker too.

I dunno, the cave in BB just didn't seem to capture the dark, very noticeably underground mood B89's cave had.

Yes, it's fine for The Batcave to be open plan, but it does need defined areas. I think they should ideally consist of IT, vehicle, training, forensic and trophy zones. None need to be epic or toony (giant pennies and dinosaurs are two issues over which my traditionalism faulters).

the trophy element of the cave wouldnt work ie wut will wayne archive for raz ul ghul his goatee beard lololololo:yay:

hmm, yeah good idea.

but what about the stink? even if its a big cave it will still reach Bruce's work area at one point. also what about the moisture coming from that waterfall? moisture in computers is worse than dirt and dust.

it would be nice to see some kind of believable ventilation system in the cave. i'd like to know where Bruce draws in good air and where he blows them out.

thanks for thinking its a good idea, a sonar dog whistle type devices to keep the bats in a certain area

as for the smell lots and lots of air freshers lol and to avoid moisture he can put the equipment around the area where the elevator entrance is. That looked like fairly bricked area when alfred was talking about the underground railroad

lol it was funny someone said that the top level ground is probably a mess by having hardly anything to support the ground above.

In BTAS the cave had a solid layer of concrete for the ceiling

Err, since he's in the penthouse, I dunno if I'd be expecting to see any Batcave in TDK...

I'd like to see it a step up from BB but not super furnished.

I wonder if the mansion will be finished or still under construction in TDK?

well, the best batcaves were the ones from the first 2 films obviously, so going something like in that direction would be obvious. the one in begins i wouldnt qualify as a BATMAN batcave, it was just a batcave with a river running through it. i hope to see a more modernized version, something like in B89 or Returns. IMO in nolans world i would imagine something along the lines of the B89 batcave, which had a very real world design and was very muggy and wet and dirty, just like in begins, but it had all his equipment and the batcomputer. i really liked how the bats flew around in the Returns batcave though, so i hope they do something similiar, like whenever they cut to a batcave scene, you see 5 or 6 bats fly past the camera as you see bruce working on something, ya know, to let you know that your in the batcave now.

I would like to see it more so like The Batcave in the first season of BTAS . Were it's not fully high-tec, but it still high-tec

.....like the Returns one, right? cuz TAS cave was heavily based on the Returns cave, with those jutting cliffs and blueish black hue.

Forgive me if there is already a post on this topic, but I was unable to find one.

I'm interested to see what your thoughts, expectations, hopes, etc. are for the improvements to the Batcave.

I got to thinking last night after regrettably giving in to the urge to watch Batman & Robin lol.

Personally, I like the basic and gritty batcave as seen in BB, but would not mind major improvements. I wouldn't like to see anything that would involve heavy construction, as that would require labor and thus giving away the secret location of the Batcave. I would much rather see basic improvements that Bruce, Alfred, and Lucius could take care of.

My hopes are
A Computer, database where Bruce keeps records and profiles of individuals. Maybe even security feeds of Wayne Enterprises, the police station, Arkham Asylum, the prison, etc.

Some sort of equipment storage improvement.

A "trophy" case with some sort of homage to Ras Al Ghul (with Ras being the first villain to be "encountered")

yeah I second the computer setup. perhaps a crime lab. emergency medical facilities. definitely an armory of gadgets and equipment. security and defense system in case of a break in.

Honestly, we don't know how much of the cave we're gonna see, if any.

Spy reports indicate that Bruce will be living in an apartment while Wayne Manor is being rebuilt.

Yeah, I know we have no reports of such, and I'm actually not hoping to see it until the end of the movie... but I'm interested to see what people would like to see.

The apartment in essence will have a mini-cave, which has previously been in the comics as well, so discussion as to what you'd like to see there is fair game as well.

Really, I just want to see more detective/science/computer equipment. We didn't really get that in BB. I'm hoping Bats progresses as more of a detective and scientist in this one.

No-one but Bruce is going to be able to upgrade the batcave, I reckon we'll see a bit of that. If his equipment at the Penthouse is just in a panic room, I still think he'll do most of his work alone in the cave, with no Alfred for support.

Besides the usual science stuff, some big maps of Gotham, walls plastered with evidence

I don't want it to be too guady with gadgets but it has to have a major distinction from the look of the carved out cave in Begins.

And I wouldn't mind a hint at some of the things found in the cave that is shown in the comics. Can you say giant penny or T-Rex? :cwink:

I love that side of Batman when he's sat in his cave solving *****, behind his big computer -- no cold soup though, Alfred. ;)

I'd still like to see the cave, but I think that just because this is the second movie that the cave shouldn't be completely finished, we should still see a progression.

Computer, armoury, stuff like that are cool and I bet are in it. I want them to build a ramp for the Batwing lol :wow: :hyper:

Frank Miller wasn't going to include them in his cave in DKR, but did in the end due to their iconic status. Certainly the penny, IIRC. I'd LOVE to see them along with a giant Joker card, and memorabilia, in a future movie Batcave.
For TDK, give me a space for spare Batmobiles, big computer screen, some weight-lifting equipment, and we're done.

A crime lab and computer are must-haves, IMO. Then we could MAYBE see some actual "World's Greatest Detective" work.

We took a cab to a location I'd heard about on your website. It's the lot between Randolph and Washingtonwith all the trailers and things of that nature.

We met a friendly guy, and he pointed out that filming was taking place as we speak! He told us to go to XXXX Hotel. They were filming in the penthouse on the 39th floor. So, my cousin and I arrived there and immediately rushed to an elevator. The 39th floor was closed off, so, consequently we went to the 38th floor. This floor was strictly hair and make-up. We talked to some guys that were working the shoot [and they] gave us some information about the scene, but not without eventually telling us to head on down to the lobby.

We complied and then saw a clown/goon walking through the 38th floor hallway as we got on the elevator (I got a huge kick out of that). As we headed out of the hotel we stopped and talked to [some people associated with TDK].They informed us that they would be shooting in the penthouse for the next 4 days. I also asked about the set in the parking garage around XXXX St. and they said the Batcave set was there. However, they did not know whether the set was still up or not. They told me that in 2 weeks a chase scene would start filming. The chase scene was to take around 6 weeks.

That is basically everything that happened. I guess nothing too exciting, but I loved every minute of it. Also, thanks to all that helped out and gave us information.

thanks Sasq!

were you able to find out what street that parking garage is on?
