Oh, I definitely want to see Hader do something more dramatic, and it's possible he's not great at that. But, generally speaking, comedians do better in serious roles than dramatic actors do at comedy. Jim Carrey, Will Ferrell, Bill Murray, Steve Carell, Robin Williams, and more have proven that comedians are very capable of building deep, nuanced characters. But, it's not a hard, fast rule at all.

You're definitely right that Hader is unproven in this regard. Call it a hunch, but I really believe he can deliver a truly dark performance to compliment his comedic ability, in the same way Robin Williams delivered in Insomnia or One Hour Photo. Going from his past experience, you're right. Not the resume you'd want for a character like this. But, I really see a potential to do something special with the role.

Yeah, I wish Williams would do more dramatic work. He's a funny guy of course, but I think he's an amazing dramatic actor. But I think that, on the whole, he's one of the rate ones. Perhaps Hader is too, but like you said, it remains to be seen.

Fair enough.

Second choice, Chris Kattan!

Kidding, kidding. :p

Nah, he's to promintent. I think Patrick Stewart would be good in the role, as somebody already suggested.

Bruce Wayne/Batman- Michael Fassbender or Jon Hamm

Alfred Pennyworth- Patrick Stewart

James Gordon- Bryan Cranston

Vicky Vale- Amanda Seyfried

Only if the Joker gets to cut his hand off. :o

Cranston can also be Mr. Freeze.

Erm, here's an idea, instead of trying to make Batman et all black why doesn't somebody just write a good superhero movie for balck characters? Blade and Storm are good but Black Panther, really? I know some people will take offence at what I just said but I like my characters to stay as they are meant to be. I would hate a blonde Batman, for instance. I don't see why to try and correct the underrepresentation of black people one has to fundamentally change a whole character. Just get up off thy buts and make one from scratch!
P.S. I did actually like Idris Elba in Thor (I've forgotten most of the characters' names!).

Problem...James Earl Jones isn't British :oldrazz:

And this is why I hope you never are the casting director for anything.

Just because he is not british does not mean he can't pull off the accent, even if he can't he can always get a voice coach during production (george lazenby, eva green on their bond roles did the same).

Also I have noticed a trend in severe lack of imagination from the posters on this forum.

80% of the choices for poison ivy are redhead. Really? You are boiling your choice down to the redheads of hollywood? Might a better actress dye her hair to suit the role, it has been done before. (uma thurman and scarlett johanson managed to dye their hair for their respective roles ivy and ass whooping bouncing... *drools* character from avengers ^^).

Daniel Craig looks nothing like bond, but guess what? He pulls it off. Yea sure it might not be everyones taste but it shows that something other than the exactly image from the comics/books/source material can still work.

NOTE:

Im not trying to bash, insult or put down anyone or their ideas. Im just saying stay open minded.

And to the person i quoted, please don't take my sarcasm too harshly, I mean well ^^.

And finally, Yea, i know I said be open minded and yet I use mostly Bond references for my point, the reason is because I'm a Bond nut and it was the first ref to come to mind to explain what I needed to say.

I personally don't have a problem casting non white actors into supposedly white superhero roles.

As long as a characters race or specific ethnicity is not that important to the character i don't have a problem.

I think in 10-20 years the fact that people have discussions like this will be laughed at.

I was and still am a big supporter of Idris Alba one day taking over for bond.

I would have thought the " :oldrazz: " would have displayed the humorous nature of my post.
