The Batman Reboot Casting Thread - Part 3

Agreed, at mot I see him being a regular human, non-super hero character in a comic movie, and that's wishfully thinking.

I don't know, if his problem is the idea of playing a "cape-and-spandex" type, he could potentially be a super hero who just isn't that kind of character. Granted, that probably means Marvel more than DC. . .

It's a very random choice but Michael Vartan as Bruce/Batman

I am not sure about this actor whether or not he is fit for batman. But I am on the Karl Urban band wagon. Yes he may remind people of Bale which is good in a way because most batman actors before him was not considered great only michael keeton can be mentioned as close to bale as one of the best batman's on film.

Michael Vartan would have been a good Hal Jordan in like 2007, hes washed up now and Im gonna have to personally say no to him as Bats

I would have Urban in the JL franchise, but not the Bat reboot.

What is the point then? Isnt WBs plan to spin off franchises from JL? I dont think theyre going to have two different Batmen despite what that article about Armie Hammer said

I honestly don't know if something like that would be wise or not. They want a JL movie, and it'll take donkey years for it to get built up and finally done. But that's if they build around MOS, the Batman reboot, a Wonder Woman franchise, Green Lantern...

Whereas they can just throw out a JL franchise by it's self, quick as that.

Youre misunderstanding. WB is going to launch a JL franchise and a Batman reboot will be a spinoff of the JL franchise, with the same Batman actor

Urban, for the foreseeable future is Vaako in Riddick which is probably his last appearance in the role even if the film follows itself up with a sequel, which itself is very unlikely! There won't be another Dredd movie unfortunately! So, he's jut Bones.
So unlike Fassbender, Elba and Pine, he most certainly is not swamped!

About the spin-off reboot, I do hope that they make a few other properties before rebooting Batman for a solo adventure. That way they can have a Batman in public conciousness (in JLA) without drawing comparisons to Nolan's trilogy and also saved the problem of casting two Batman. I honestly think they can safely reboot the Batman series after a couple of JLAs are out. Let me explain.

After two JLA movies, they(GA) will have a much more tangible understanding of a difference in the timelines of the two Batman's since they would compare JLA Batman into his second movie and Reboot Batman just having his first. Its much more easy to accept that this reboot Batman is younger since it kinda runs as a prequel to what they saw in 2 JLAs.
If they reboot after just one, batman if the 1st JLA will be compared to the Batman of the 1st reboot. That time space gap may be much more difficult to get through to the audience since they are both 1st movies!

So they either have to cast the same guy as Batman- which is difficult since Gosling doesn't want to do superhero movies and most other candidates don't have that good a resume. Different Batman for a reboot (which takes place in some years) allows them to cast a more mature Batman (Urban?) while waiting for the younger and newer crop of actors to come through (That didn't really work for WW- Bellucci and Jolie slipped through the fingers and no viable alternative has actually come around)

That is the logic with which I suggested Urban in the first place.

It's rather simple.

Man Of Steel launches a Justice League with a lineup that consists of (at the very least) the same Superman + the debut of the rebooted Batman + the debuts of Wonder Woman/Flash + the return of Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern. The only "if" here is the spot of Ryan Reynolds.

After Justice League we see the launch of that Batman in a solo movie, a Wonder Woman movie, a Flash movie and a sequel to Man Of Steel. Everything else will be sorted out when those things get underway.

To be fair, there is no plan revealed yet.

According to Jett at BoF, JL could very well go the route of having a separate Batman and Superman disconnected from the solo films. Nothing is set in stone at the moment.

Jett's just speculating. He tries to make it seem like he knows everything that's going on with Batman. But it's not the case. And i like Jett too.

Doing a Justice League with a seperate cast in the midst of these Man Of Steel movies is a stupid decision. It also delays all the other solo movies. It's a horrible decision and im sure they'll use the plan that i said.

It's the most simple thing to do. AND i'm in the mood for a new Batman solo movie..so i want it to happen that way.

WB just hasn't decided how to best screw themselves over yet. They did pretty well on last year's GL, so they'll have to think of something to trumph that.

Aww, Geez... Urban is in that new Riddick movie? Is he just attracted to bombs?

He looked good in the cowl but his voice and narration bored the hell out of me.
