The Batman Reboot Casting Thread - Part 3

Hardy is Mad Max already too.

As far as comparing Gosling to Keaton, I don't see it. True they are both 'out of the box' choices for Batman. Keaton did have the intensity in the eyes though that came through in the mask.

Gosling's eyes just look tired and dead while trying to do the same. I've seen Drive.

I wouldn't mind Gosling in some other role, but not as Batman. Though, he's already conveyed he's not interested in doing the superhero genre. I understand this is a casting thread where the choices don't need to be realistic, but he wouldn't be associated with Justice League or the potential Batman spinoff franchise from it. He's turned WB down 2 or 3 times. They wanted him for JLM and GL.

Calm is something Hardy definitively does well, I misspoke there, he's just not got the smart-guy to him. Maybe I'm biased for having only seen him in fighting roles like Bane and Warrior (And no, Bane was not a smart-guy role. All he did was speak big words and look menacing). I could totally see him as Batman in Nolan's trilogy, but that's not the Batman I want.

I did see Inception, but I don't even remember what role he had there. Was before I really knew who he was..

Tom Hardy and Karl Urban as Batman candidates ?

No, Thanks.

Didn't Ryan Gosling say at some point that he wouldn't do a comic book film?

^at some point is kinda the key word there

times change, people change, the genre has come along way since he said that, and we've seen alot of great actor/actress that you would of never excepted to see take on roles in comic book movies, even acts who have turned down roles/or have said they weren't interested in the genre, in the past...

He wants to but he hasn't read any scripts that have interested him or he usually doesnt see himself playing that kind of role. But like Spider says, people change, a good script may be offered to him. If anythings gonna convince him it'll be the Batman franchise because of the filmmakers, writers, actors that are attached. Plus you have the guy who wrote his character in Gangster Squad, as the guy writing Justice League.

Things change.

I can see Gosling being Batman one day ...or sooner, a Marvel character ;)

A Bale/Nolan Bond is one of the greatest ideas I have ever read. Wow. Imagining that is making me horny..

Shame it would never happen though. Bale just doesn't have the "British snob" look that past Bonds have had. He comes across as a bit of a rebel - which is unusual for British actors.

I would prefer Daniel Craigs final Bond to be with Nolan. Or at least the actor who takes Craigs place, which the popular choices are Fassbender & Idris Elba apparently.

Elba or Fassbender would both be fantastic. I want to see Craig one last time though for sure

Craigs signed on for two more Bonds. So you're good!

/End thread.

Elba is the man.
Damn straight. They already had a meeting with him about playing Bond in the near future. My guess is towards the end of the decade he'll be brought in.

Elba will be too old to play Bond by the time 2 more Craig movies come out. Though he could work as a villain for sure.

Not so sure. Craig should be what? 48 or 49 when he does that final film? Let's say Idris is 47 when he plays Bond..i think that's good if they're planning a one-off with Nolan.

There's also what Craigs been saying. Which is, he's signed on for two films (the follow-up to Skyfall will be out November 2014 which is pretty quick). And that he may do another after that, if he feels up to it. So the next one is in the bag, script is almost finished, but he'll only do another if he doesnt feel he's getting too old. In that case Elba can do a couple.

Fassbender or Hardy is probably the safer choice because of their age. Fassbender will be the perfect age as far as im concerned. He'll be able to pull off a trilogy.

Yeah, I think Fassbender is the way to go after Craig.

I like Hardy as well. But he just has a pretty boy look to him which isn't suited for Bond lol

Gosling has said even before that video that he doesn't see himself as a cape-wearing superhero type.

He can't envision himself as those characters, so he doesn't want to play something that isn't true to himself... if he doesn't see himself as a superhero.

Seems like a fair enough reason. No major loss though.
