The Batman Reboot Casting Thread - Part 2

i think out of those, WB would love to have Gosling replace bats. he's a talent but he's not a superstar yet.

Batman is difficult to cast. You need someone who is young enough to continue for the next 8 or so years but someone who is old enough to be convincing as a mentor to someone like Nightwing.

I'd go younger much like The Batman series as opposed to an actor who's closer to Bale's age. Then again, I think it depends on what type of Bruce Wayne they wanna go for . Frankly, I'd want for them to go for a different quality than Bale , or the previous actors have had.

I think the most important thing would be to resist the urge of basically remaking the Nolan films with a new cast . One of the problems I had with ASM is that it made changes around the edges but was basically still a Raimi Spiderman film . I think the Synder approach to MOS in relation to the Reeve films is a good one. I think they have to go into it fresh , however I really think they should ditch the origin story and start with a younger yet established Batman .

As far as casting goes , I like Geoffrey Rush for Alfred. He's not the first choice that would normally come to mind but The King's Speech demonstrates he could pull the role off with ease.

As for Gordan , I could actually see an outside the box choice like Jude Law as a 40 something Gordan. Seeing him in the Sherlock Holmes films as the two fisted Watson shows me he's up to the challenge as a reluctant yet tough Cop who could work with Batman behind the scenes.

For Bruce Wayne, I'd like someone like Josh Henderson of Dallas. He could certainly play the cocky ladies man playboy type , and I can believe him as a driven ,ambitious young man , though the Batman part i'm not so sure of. But , again that depends on what type of Batman that WB wants to go with. Either way an actor who quite a bit younger than Bale and has a different vibe about them is what I would go for whether its Henderson or someone else.

If they go younger, they'll definitely go the more supernatural villain route, with the Clayfaces and Mr. Freezes and Man-Bats.

Geoffrey Rush is a pretty good suggestion. Even if he is Tomar-Re :hehe:

Daniel Craig = Mr. Freeze

That mother****er is cold as ice.

^Love it!

Younger Batman-Garret Hedlund
Older Batman-Michael Fassbender

Rush, excellent idea. Law, horrible idea. Josh Henderson, don't know, haven't seen him.

Sorry, where's the logic in that?

Let's just forget all about that, shall we?

Nice idea.

I wanna see Fassbender as Bond.

Even if they go with a younger Batman I don't want an origin film.

:o Uh-huh.

Here's one to chew on -

Bill Paxton as Gordon
Points for originality, but I just can't see him as Gordon.
Ryan Gosling or Chris Pine?
No.

I like the Rush suggestion; Not so much the Law one but I understand how you're seeing Gordon as younger, I'm just not a fan of that; as for Henderson, I haven't seen him in Dallas but I have seen him in other movies, and I honestly can't see Bruce Wayne at all. But maybe there's something in Dallas that proves me wrong.

Eh, I guess if you wanna go that route with Freeze, I personally don't.

No thanks to either.

Co-sign.

This explains so much about you.

Could Ben Walker pull off the TAS-inspired Batman?

He's 6'3. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0907548/

Only if he wears that coat through the whole movie. :hehe:

Just kidding. I've heard a lot of great things about this dude but he'd have to lean out a bit. This sounds nitpicky, but his face looked very round in that Lincoln movie and I think he'd look weird in a Batmask.

Hmm. Agreed.

Though I think he'll be cast as a superhero sooner or later, probably for Marvel.

Bryan Cranston has to be Gordon - he's perfect for the role! He nailed the voice acting in Batman: Year One, and he's great in Breaking Bad. He could totally pull it off.

Not sure for Batman, but whoever they end up casting has some big shoes to fill. Say what you want about Bale's Bat-growl, but he was a damn good Batman/Bruce Wayne.

Watch this and tell me he can't pull off the look and intensity of Batman..
He's the right age, Nolan even was considering him along with Bale. I think Gyllenhaal honestly could do a great job if people would give him a chance. If he bulked up he could make a great Batman judging by this video.

^Absolutely. I'm starting to warm up to the idea of Ryan Gosling. I never thought I'd say that.

Oh after Drive, there's no doubt in my mind he'd kick ass as Bats. But really everyone should watch this short film http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pt9wnawn7xQ it stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a serial killer, it shows his diversity and intensity, showing hes not just a nice guy in his movies, he can be a badass too. And he looks like Wayne in this too, if they dyed his hair black he would look a lot like comics Wayne.

Gyllenhaal? Hahahaha.

The hardest part about recasting this role is that this generation already has it's Batman, Christian Bale.

He was perfect casting, like Reeve for Superman.
