The Batman Reboot Casting Thread - Part 3

Yeah any bigger comes at the risk of either casting a crap actor for the part, or too much CG to the point where it looks ridiculous. Bane looked HUGE.

I disagree. They could have used camera tricks along the lines of LOTR how they made the hobbits look small. Bane in the books is supposed to be much bigger than he was in TDKR. You cant deny that.

I supported it then, when I was 7, and I support it now. I like Collin Farrell and im not ashamed!!! :o

Colin Farrell fans unite! :D

He's no where near my favorite for the role but I think he would surprise people.

He got pretty big in Fright Night.

Not only big, but his performance in Fright Night was incredible. I can only imagine what he'd do as Batman with a solid script and a good director.

The original of Fright Night is way better. "Dinner's in the oven!" :D

And to whoever suggested Jay Ryan as Batman... have you no taste? That is such a weak choice. Such a weak choice. Hes a ****ing CW actor. Thats like the lowest quality of tv actors. What is wrong with you, suggester of Jay Ryan for Batman?

That little dip**** Ryan Gosling, from Young Hercules.... he should never be in anything. And that chick from Dawson's Creek, Michelle Williams, keep her away from anything good. And that chick from Secret Life of the American Teenager (worse than anything on The CW, for the record)... she'll absolutely never be any good in George Clooney's The Descendants.

:o

Enough with the elitism.

Seriously? Youre going to compare those quality actors to Jay Ryan? Alright man. Thats funny.

CW is different than other networks. It simply isnt very high quality.

Im not an elitist?

In fact my main choice for Batman hasnt made the transition from tv to film. Anson Mount.

So yeah.

Jay Ryan still sucks for Batman

You haven't seen him act yet, and neither have I, really...and I didn't know CW actors ranked so low :oldrazz:

Yes, I am going to compare those quality actors to Jay Ryan, and you know why? Because when they were on Young Hercules and Dawson's Creek, they were on the level he is now. They were young actors. He's from New Zealand, he's an unknown over here. He's taking work where he can get it.

Whoever suggested him is jumping the gun from where his career is now, but you turning your nose up at him for being a "CW actor" as if that makes him lesser is bull****, it's elist snobbery.

Oh, and since you bring Anson Mount into this... guess where he got his first series regular role?! :o

I want an actor for Batman that isnt currently starring on the CW and has proven they can carry a film like Mount has.

CW sucks. Youre not going to change my mind. Jay Ryan is not at the point where he can lead a billion dollar franchise, not at all. Years down the line MAYBE, but he looks nothing like Bruce and is on a ****** looking CW show, thats enough to make me not want him for the part. Get over it.

I think its sooooo funny youre so ******** over me not liking Jay Ryan for Batman, Sawyer. :D So lame.

Get over what? Your elitist attitude.

I already am over it. :)

Come on. Ryan looks more like Bruce Wayne than any other actor who's played him.

And as I said about him before, if they wanted to go for an unknown he could be considered. I didn't mean HE should be IT.

Oh in the comics most definately. But Nolans movies have always leaned more towards a real world while only representing the comics a little bit. I dont want to see Bane now for a lonnng time (even though Bardem would have been cool) but the next time he comes up, they'll have to use a lot of trickery/CG. He'll have to be the Bane from the comics, straight up. But i have absolutely zero complaints about Hardys version.

My only worry is that i dont trust WB next time around. We'll probably only see the character in like 20 years from now so i shouldnt even think about it, but they'll probably go the classic Bane route..BUT will probably cast some massive dude who can't act that well but is a big name. Like whatever the equivalent to Vin Diesel will be in 20 years.

Sawyer-
Swell! :)

You keep using that word elitist but Im not above using tv actors for superhero roles. Only if theyre good promising actors that show leading man potential. Unlike Jay Ryan.

Im about QUALITY not being an elitist. Im totally fine with CW actors if theyre good actors or suit the role, but I dont think Ryan is either of those :)

Sawyer, Id like to hear your other casting ideas! Im sure someone who has been on the hype as long as you can come up with something better than Jay Ryan, thats just weak and lazy.

Hes only being suggested because hes playing a character with duality like Batman and a dark side. Thats the undeniable truth.

Please show me a single ****ing panel where Jay Ryan loooks like Batman. Please enlighten me for Im so ignorant even though Ive read countless comics.

He looks absolutely nothing like any interpretation of Batman i have ever seen. Emphasis on ever

Wait, what? There's no chance in hell that he looks more like Bruce than Bale did. And im mainly talking about his first movie, Begins. Ryan doesnt look anything like Bruce Wayne in my opinion.

Shauner youre the man! hahaha backin me up and whatnot :p

So Ryan can't pass for even one of them?

It figures youd use a picture from that show. That isnt what he looks like in real life.

And yeah I dont think he could pass for ANY of those images of Bruce. Not at all.

Please tell me in which of those images he looks like Bruce, im simply not seeing it. At all.

I'm not saying he's 100% identical. But Did West, Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney or Bale look anything like Bruce for that matter?

Thats irrelevant, and yes I think Bale looks like Jim Lees Batman in Batman Begins.

Previous casting choices have nothing to do with the new franchise, why are you even bringing that up? It means nothing, and you just basically admitted that he doesnt look like Bruce and earlier you were so adamant that he looks soooo much like Bruce from the comics. Hmmm....

So if you dont think he looks like Bruce from the comics why do you want him as Bruce? Is it his mediocre acting skills? Or is it the fact that hes playing a character with a dark side on Beauty and the Beast? Im gonna guess its the latter.

LOL no problem Changeling. But for real, i just dont see it either. I was also gonna say that the pic is a little deceiving. And some of those shots of Bruce aren't exactly how i think of the character.

Bale (like i said, especially in Begins) looked a lot like the young Bruce Wayne. When Bale had that bigger build. Kilmer wasn't that bad actually, in some scenes he was like Bruce. Other scenes not at all. Keaton and Clooney i completely understand, but the star-power and ability to do crazy characters (in Keatons case) is something you cant compare to Ryan.

I personally think he does like Bruce, but not 100% I can honestly see it.
That was partially why I liked him.

And it was from me seeing him on BATB, yes. I thought he had potential there to play a character like Batman, obviously.

But to you, he looks nothing like Bruce Wayne, is on a crap channel, and a weak actor for it. So why should I continue to defend him? I know there's better picks out there.

Wow you havent even seen him act! and youre suggesting him?! Beauty and the Beast isnt on tv yet. You suggested him based on a picture. Why are you defending him if you have no idea of his abilities?

That to me shows that you do not care about the quality of acting in the next Bat film and thats sad, because the last films were so great, why would you want to downgrade?
