He's got everything you want as far as age, looks and talent.
How are you measuring his talent? Based off his performance in White Collar? Maybe you're thinking of how much you like him in Magic Mike?
Seems like people are naming Bomer purely because he looks the part, and yeah, I guess he does. If you want to cast Batman based on physical characteristics, maybe he's your guy. Chiseled face? Check. Nice head of hair? Check. Looks good in designer suits? Check. Ability to gain lean muscle mass? Probably. Even with all that, I'm far from sold on him. Casting Batman is not about checking things off a list like that. (Plus, am I the only one who thinks he looks exactly like Cavill in some pictures?)
My desire is that they go "out of the box" with the casting of Bruce/Batman, because sometimes, that's how you strike gold. To this day, some people would say Michael Keaton is their favorite Batman and he fits none of the physical characteristics I mentioned above. Fans literally boycotted his casting at first. How about Heath Ledger? Was there a single person who suggested him or hoped he was chosen to play The Joker in TDK? Not a chance, and his casting was a total shock to us all...but he ****ing nailed it. Chris Nolan saw something in him that others did not, and it paid off in spades. Imagine if we had gotten Crispin Glover (a fan favorite for TDK's Joker casting) simply because he pretty much looked the part and reflected a certain level of creepiness. We would have missed out on the total transformation we got from Heath.
IMO, the obvious choice is not always the best choice. By NOT playing it safe and NOT going with an obvious Hollywood hunk (or any of the popular choices from this thread), Snyder might have the best chance at pure magic.
*Side-note: What really sold Christian Bale for me was his performance in American Psycho. Not only was his body ripped, and not only did he LOOK the way Bruce Wayne should look, but he showed that he could play a tortured, somewhat demented soul...someone with multiple personalities. As Patrick Bateman, Bale was playing an outsider trying to blend in, a man filled with rage who was displaying a pure facade to those around him, someone who was unwillingly consumed by his own darkness. THAT's what we need from our Batman. We need an actor with the distinct ability to go back and forth between acting suave/charismatic...then unhinged/dangerous...emotionally vulnerable...powerful/sure of himself...etc
Sorry, but seeing Karl Urban scowling with only his mouth exposed, growling with a deep voice, striking cool poses in slow motion, while shooting dozens of bad guys...does not equate to a qualification to play Batman. It shouldn't be as cut and dry as that. *end rant*
