The Batman Reboot Casting Thread - Part 5

I hate being superficial but Batman needs to stand shoulder to shoulder with Cavill's Superman. If Bomer were taller I'd be game for him.

The actor should be 6'0" to 6'3" IMO. He should also have range for both personas, rather than just having a growl for the cowl.

Not many options that I can think of. Just have Armie Hammer be the stand-in, CGI the face from Tequila's post, and have Conroy do voice over.

You do realize height can be easily manipulated on screen? If Snyder wants Bomer and Cavill to appear to be the same height, they will.

Boy, are you late to the party.

Short answer: no.

(Responding to the guy asking about Armie Hammer in TLR. I really should refresh before posting more.)

Michael Keaton, in an adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns.

Bats: "Oh, you think you're hardcore, snapping alien necks? Please... I've been dropping mother****ers from helicopters since you were just a baby." *kicks Supes in the chest*

:awesome:

Batman should have a little Latin flavor -

Édgar Ramírez

Oscar Isaac

I agree.

I am aware since Tom Cruise looks 5'10" in most of his movies. ;)

And it worked very well for a guy like Tom Hardy playing Bane.

But it was just a thought of mine, that the actor should have that 'gravitas'.

Quoting and agreeing with yourself? Pfft... for shame. :o

Superb idea.

I thought the inclusion of the guy who plays Jamie on Game of Thrones was interesting on this list:

http://www.denofgeek.us/movies/batman/157660/six-actors-who-could-be-the-worlds-finest-batman

Could have used Karl Urban or Bradley Cooper though, in my opinion.
Cooper is my out of the box suggestion for Lex. I don't think he could pull off Batman to be honest.

I'm not fond of DenofGeek's list. It looks like they stole it from this messageboard, I see nothing new. Yawn.

Whoever they get is going to have to be someone who can make a long commitment, so he'll prob be younger.

You have Man of Steel2, then Justice League and sequels, not to mention the new trilogy of Batman films.

Think Hugh Jackman type commitment, whos still playing Wolverine 13 years later in 2 trilogies.

That's true but then they're whipped into shape for the role. One of the best examples from just very recently:

Chris Pratt getting into shape for Guardians of the Galaxy.

perfect example. you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who's suggested burt macklin for any of these roles before zero dark thirty maybe even after. chris is going to nail star-lord.

How long do you suppose until they actually cast the Bat

Sam Witwer is still my first pick, I think he would make a good batman first and foremost, but also think he could do the brooding bruce wayne.

They are going to have to cast it soonish I assume to make the release date. The actor has to have time to get in shape as well.

I would say not until the script is complete, or closer to completion. Probably by October, sometime in the fall.

I would think they already have some one in mind for the role. WB isn't quite the bravest studio, and to come and announce at CC. They must have at least a guy in mind, if not chosen.

I'd say WB is a pretty brave studio, they seem to let their filmmakers have a lot of creative input unlike some other studios who make the safest films possible. They aren't good at handling their Superhero properties though.

I can't imagine which studio you're talking about.

To varying degrees I like and borderline love a few of those films but I don't want every studio to follow in those footsteps. With the exception of Green Lantern WB has let it's filmmakers be more creative than most when it comes to comicbook movies. You can argue with the end results but you can't argue that they are overly managing their filmmakers. Of course the can't argue with the other guys results too much because they are making tons of cash.
