The Batman Spoiler Discussion Thread

So I keep reading about how insane the batmobile chase is. Would you guys say it's in par with the chase from TDK? I love me a good car chase!

Its way better than the ones in the Nolan films...it feels like something out of a 70s film like French Connection or Bullit.

Really weird question (but humour me), what song played over the credits? Also is there an opening credits sequence or does it just start aka tdk

There is not an opening sequence per se, just sort of a name card and music then creepy scene begins.

I honestly can't remember what played over the credits...I think I blacked out ;)

Surprised that, unless I missed a post, nobody has mentioned the Bruce/Alfred hospital scene midway through the movie. Beautifully acted by Pattinson and Serkis, my heart went out to both of them. Really underplayed, poignant stuff.

The one in the hospital? That was a great scene. And I remember the "Alfred Dies" rumors which obviously came from that part of the film.

I like the idea that as Batman/Bruce grows into the mission, Alfred's importance will grow as well. He is barely in this film, because at this point Bruce barely exists and Batman is still in an adolescent stage in his mission. (Year 2) Alfred will be his lightning rod, his anchor to the real world, the reminder that Bruce and Batman must both exist for the mission to be a success.

That scene definitely rivals with Bruce and Alfred scenes in TDKT... what a great moment. For both. Wish Serkis was in more scenes.

Oh I forgot about the parachute scene... that was hilarious.

That is high praise! While Nolan rightfully gets criticism for his staging of hand-to-hand combat, he is an undisputed master of vehicular action.

Man, there is just so much to discuss when it comes to this movie and I was waiting a bit to talk about that scene because I wanted to go more in depth on Pattinson's performance once I had more time to process my thoughts, but that scene definitely stood out and is easily his best Bruce Wayne scene in the film.

While Serkis didn't have as much screentime as I expected he still brought his A game as Alfred, and I was genuinely worried for a bit that they were going to kill him off which I'm glad they didn't.

Also, while Pattinson's Bruce Wayne didn't have a ton of screen time either I never felt like his performance was lacking and honestly his portrayal as Bruce is probably the most interesting and endearing iteration we have gotten yet.

It is such a refreshingly differing take than any of the past portrayal's and I love the fact that as socially awkward, quiet and reserved as he was as Bruce, he was obviously a lot more comfortable and open with other people underneath that cowl which is what you in alot of those scenes with Gordon and Selina.

Pattinson is also a really fantastic actor when it comes to utilizing his facial expressions too because I loved those intense up-close shots of just seeing complete shock and horror almost every time his parents were mentioned.

With the city flooded, it just feels like Freeze would be a natural continuation of whatever story they’re trying to tell. Winter is coming!!
True! They could pick up a couple of months later in dead winter with aftermath of the flood, which is now a freeze.

I commend Matt Reeves for not easily going to a flashback when they were talking about Thomas and Martha Wayne.

It's great to see them to resist that urge and just show Andy Serkis and Pattinson act their asses off.
