The Batman Spoiler Discussion Thread

Also, by the end of this movie, we know stuff is about to go real next one - it'll be bigger in scope because the sickos and criminals are now running amok in a city breathing by life support with stuff collapsed and depending upon the National Guard (as we see Selina trying to convince Bruce to leave because stuff gonna get worse from that point on. That's a hint for what is to come next)

It'll get real, son

Audience was dead silent during the scene too. So either they were totally engrossed, the scene didn't land or they didn't quite realize who he was.

Someone behind me said "Two Face" - in my head I was like yeah that's definitely not lol

I slept on it.

As a glutton for Joker content, I'm happy to have the scene. It's two minutes and altogether harmless to have in there. On the flip side though, it serves no purpose either other than to directly tease a sequel. In that aspect, it sort of calls attention to itself and doesn't really feel like it belongs in the movie surrounding it.

I thought the context of the scene was fine. Riddler spent the entire movie thinking he and Batman were "friends," only to be completely and utterly rejected. Enter "Unseen Arkham Prisoner," who offers to fill that void and give Riddler something he clearly desires. So in a way it was both a resolution for Riddler's arc as well as a tease of things to come.

Oh yeah, I agree with you about how that little scene can find some relevance when view that way, serving some sort of conclusion to Riddler arc, but it was especially the performances that rubbed us the wrong way.
This is the only moment I felt Dano was maybe overplaying a bit, while Keoghan laugh felt a bit forced and... I don't know how to say that better, but "unimaginative" ? His timing felt off.
I just really get that vibe of saturday morning cartoon villains laughing because they're evil aha.

Yeah, I'm cool with a totally different villain for the sequel like Mr. Freeze. I said this before, but like how The Batman takes place in the week of Halloween, the sequel can take place in a heat wave of summer.

The nice thing about Hush is that he is also a Bruce Wayne villain, not only a Batman one. So this really prompts lots of development from this perspective, as well.

He is a complete opposite to Bruce, having killed/attempted to kill hiw own parents (what Bruce would give everything to have them back) and hating the life with them - also spent years travelling the world just to mirror Wayne, and his very creepy obsession in lookling like him

This is a psycho that would fit perfectly well in this type of universe. Especially the stuff between Thomas and his parents. Even in the comics its greatly disturbing and shocking. Can't even imagine how twisted would be in big screen.

Hush feels a bit too derivative to me now, though. Masked villain targeting Bruce Wayne because of the wrongs done to him by Thomas Wayne. Hush would just be Riddler with a different coat of paint.

And to be fair, Hush kind of IS the Riddler (at least in the original arc). He’s the “brains” behind the operation, while Tommy (an ACTUAL BRAIN SURGEON) is the “muscle.” LOL what a poorly written story.

I still believe that Hush was originally intended to be Jason Todd but fans figured it out and so they switched it up and did that stupid Clayface fakeout. DC had never admitted to it (that I know of) but I think it’s very telling that they brought Jason back a year or two later. And they have a history of hasty rewrites when plot points get spoiled by fans; in Armageddon 2001, Monarch was originally supposed to be Captain Atom but fans figured it out and they (stupidly) switched it to Hawk.

I really really hope he's the villain in the sequel.

Also.. Harvey Dent must be in this franchise - I just hope we get a full movie with him as Dent

Someone on BOT pointed out something I noticed as well, there's a short conversation inserted just to pass the Bechdel test.

There is almost no reason for the conversation to exist except to satisfy the "2 named female characters talk to each other about something other than a man". It's pretty blatant since we are given one of the characters' names literally less than a minute before the conversation happens.

So everyone here who saw the Joker scene can agree that his face is most likely ****ed up?

That is the face of a man who’s problems cannot be solved with accutane. It looks like someone lit his face on fire and stomped it out with football cleats

It looks like a much more mangled version of Cameron Monaghan's Joker.

Sheeeesh where to begin? I'll jump in on that Arkham scene since thats where the conversation currently is. Definitely a prosthetic reliant Joker which in my opinion is very refreshing. We had the clown makeup smear twice now and I'm ready for something to call back to the '89 Joker look for the big screen, assuming they continue down that path. I was amazed, if anything, that those rumors about Barry's casting were so spot on for being that long ago. I guess he just has that look.

We're not allowed to post leaked videos, right? Just found Bat's first appearance on youtube. My gosh it's amazing, the freakin' score.

Are you just joking rn or is that actually what you saw?
