I loved it so much! I still need to get to grips with everything but it was perfect. People have complained about the runtime but I could've watched more. It was so well crafted, I can't wait to see more. I hope all the same crew return in the future because every element was integral to what made this film so great. Every cast member was great, down to the smallest of roles.
Off the top of my head, the opening scene was fantastic. I especially loved when Mitchell moved and Riddler was standing right behind him. Just great. Gotham was beautiful. Bruce's voiceover was such a great touch, particularly when he's describing the state of Gotham and we were shown how much the criminals were scared of the signal, and that you didn't know what shadow he was going to step out of.
I loved the club sequences, especially when Batman first meets Penguin and Selena, and even more so when he had Selena go in with his contact lens camera, so well done. The Batmobile chase was incredible - in my IMAX screening you could literally feel every aspect of it.
The Joker sequence was great. A sequel tease, sure? For all we know that could be part of something bigger than just Joker's appearance that'll happen in the future. I don't think it confirms that Joker is the next villain. Maybe the third? But anyway, I think it was a good way to signal that this isn't over, There are still villains out there, sitting in Arkham or wherever, waiting for their time to shine, and I like the interaction between him and Riddler, which reminded of how the Rogues Gallery interact in the comics and animated series. Riddler didn't get the friendship he wanted with Batman, so I guess Joker's the next best thing.
Again, I loved everything about this film. The story, the cast, the crew, the execution. So much more to talk about. Like I said I'm still getting to grips with it all and who knows? I may have some nitpicks over time, maybe, but as of right now, it was so perfect and I haven't had an experience like this watching a film in so long. I can't wait to see it again.
Matt Reeves, I love you.
