The Batman Spoiler Discussion Thread

Honestly I'm kinda sorta hoping Barry gets that super skinny ripped look eventually in time for the sequels because I don't like the idea of a manlet Joker at all.

First clip!!! Holy God!!!

Suuuuper tense.

Also couldn't help but notice the way Pattinson stands/turns is eerily reminiscent of :

The first two acts cover the detective story, the third act is the more traditional Batman action superhero we know. If they ended the movie after the second act, it would be the first Batman film history which didn't have a large scale action ending. Now this isn't not necessarily a bad thing, it just depends on your viewpoint and what your expectations are.

The woman gr#c# was just talking bull****. Ever since she read that one post she hasn't stopped clinging on to it.

Anyways, I prefer slow-burn films over action.

Wasn't the rumor that the 3rd act wasn't that?

Given the latest clips, I am a bit worried about the bat and cat relationship. Do I need to prepare for a lovesick Bruce/Batman?

So do we know the name of Gil Perez-Abraham’s cop character? He looks to be Gordon’s partner, always appearing next to him. I wonder if he’s corrupt or one of the good ones…

Their relationship is coming across very much like the comics to me here where he sort of softens up around her and she takes advantage of that a bit. Maybe I’m wrong. But I get the idea that he wants to trust her and might get burned.

If that kind relationship is not the emotional focus of the movie, I can live with that. But I don't want Bruce/Batman behave dumb as soon as catwoman enters the room. Reeves named Klute as an inspiration for the bat/cat-relationship. I read Klute's summary and I am not very optimistic. Maybe I am going to watch Klute tonight...

Holy crap..the last few pages. :D Really wish I was here to get involved. For what it's worth I think the Nolan vs Reeves argument is insanely silly. I've no idea why people get so partisan about it, both should be appreciated for what they brought and are bringing to the table.

Definitely worth a watch. It’s a great film. And I really see the inspiration as far as two people coming from vastly different backgrounds getting brought together by this conspiracy and being fascinated but also unsure of each other.

Has Batman used adrenaline before in the comics or is this a first? I'm really digging that element personally.

I don't understand the problem with this.

Batman should always have a high stakes large scale third act in a film.

It's not gonna turn into a cgi beam shooting superhero vs bland cgi army.

Batman is the most interesting superhero to do this kinda of trope or structure because it requires real creativity to justify such a event and usually has way more weight due to how smart Batmans villans are and how physiology damaging there plans are.

Nolan didn't do away with the large scale third act and I don't think Matt Reeves should either.

ViewerAnon himself compared it to the third act of Dark Knight so I'm sure I'm gonna love it.

Sounds like the best of both worlds as far as the detective elements dovetailing into higher stakes action.
