The Batman Spoiler Discussion Thread

If it's the version "the studio prefers" (which is BS because that basically means the "director has full creative control" bit is a flat out lie), I'd imagine it's the version with the ****ing Joker, who instantly makes crowds go wild.

But if not, the studio is full of ****ing idiots.

Neither would surprise me tho, just one option would severely disappoint and potentially frustrate me

Jesus dude calm down.

It's extremely possible that Matt Reeves is thinking about putting this scene in one of the sequel because he believes it interrupts the flow of the movie or something and feels to tacked on for this specific film.
.
Not everything is black and white or a conspiracy here.

And not everything is a Zack Snyder situation.

Lol the dramatic takes about creative control are gonna be fun to see. Idk if I’d call cutting a 60s scene with Joker that doesn’t add a ton to the story at hand some big lie about Reeves having creative control. What If WB were the ones to say they’d like Joker to be teased now bc Reeves wanted to use him soon? Especially considering the argument that if anybody would had incentive to use Joker, it’d be WB bc he’s so popular.

These films cost way too much for any of us to believe the studios won’t have a say so in the final cut.

And this isn’t me taking the side of the big conglomerate, I’m just saying if Joker’s scene is even more minimal or even cut Idk if it means Reeves bowed down and compromised his vision massively.

That's GOTTA be him. Come on.

But can you make it work in context of the movie, though? The only thing I can think of where Bruce would just casually walk past Joker and not notice would be at the Halloween party, as everyone would be in costume, and it wouldn't be unusual for a clown to be there.

Although, that would mean Bruce showed up sans costume, and in basically what he wore to the funeral.

I have an explanation for this.

If you notice almost all the photo seem to be old and take place before the events of this movie.

Which means that this Joker picture could also have be taken before the events of this movie.

We know he's in Arkham but he wasn't always in Arkham.

So your right it doesn't make sense in the context of The Batman specifically but in this universe past ?

There nothing stopping it there.

In the end, in the comic that subplot came from, they were just heavily edited photos because he wanted to **** with them even more than usual but still

But still, the costume party seems to be the only context that would actually make any sense. Because the photo is from a newspaper clipping, and the Joker just happens to be standing there in the background? And that photo matches one of the other photos of Bruce on the steps of city hall.

I can't say for sure it's not Joker, but gut tells me it probably isn't.

Maybe you guys are taking it too literally. Those photos may be in the film for all of 3 seconds for all we know. It could be planted by the crew as just some creepy background to build Joker as this boogeyman. Without it actually meaning anything in the actual film.

Either way it's pretty creepy.

I don't know, man. All I know is that **** can't be a coincidence. Hell, I showed my fiancee the image and said, "Tell me what you see" and she said "Robert Pattinson and Joker" without hesitating.

Like I said before, I’d love it if he were hiding in plain sight. A figure in the background. That’s legit creepy! Most likely, it’s not him, but it’s the idea that it could be that makes your skin crawl. Like when you think it’s a monster/demon in your room until you turn the lights on and it’s just your coat. Though, in this case, eventually that coat that you thought was a monster/demon wasn’t your coat after all.

It's like those old photos where there's like a ghost in the background of a family photo or something spine chilling. I'm pretty sure stuff like that could be planted by the crew to build Joker up as a demonic boogeyman presence in Gotham. That's what I would do. Add him in things that don't even really make sense. What you can't explain is the creepiest.

So, kind of like Pennywise?

Even if this was just meant to be an easter egg, that would still mean we're getting our first look at Joker.

Hard to say for sure. It's probably just a fun little joke the crew put in there.

That's a great idea! And it'll add to the whole "inhumane/force of nature" aspect of the character. He's pretty much the embodiment of evil, so they could play into that in a way.

So that laugh at the end if the Japanese trailer…

Mr. J?… :wow:

Also…

…would it be too far-fetched to think that it is actually the Joker Batman is talking to in the interrogation scene and they CG’ed Dano’s reflection on the window to throw us off?…

it would be possible, but people who attentded the test screenings never brought up this particular scene so it probably is Riddler.
