The Batman Spoiler Discussion Thread

There is nothing realistic about this Riddler. Nothing more so then the guy who leaves riddles in a suit. He wears a trash bag for Godsake. If he wore a green suit, it would be less realistic? How?

What about crafting your own equipment that is going to save you from bullets, grapple and do other such things "more realistic" then getting military grade stuff? More over, Bruce crafted plenty of his stuff in Begins. He also got hurt and wounded throught TDKT. So much so, he was physically broken 18 months into it. Seems fairly realistic in comparison.

You believe it will be based 100% on realism, say there isn't anything unrealistic in the trailers, and it's just not true. It's an attempt to confirm something through saying it's that way. That's why to try and build up to the word REALISTIC you use buzz words like grounded, gritty, dark, street-level. Which beyond most of those applying to not only Nolan but Burton's take, it still doesn't make it "more realistic".
The riddler is modelled after the zodiac, you know a serial killer that actually existed. Why are you so intent on putting forward these bad faith counter arguments and dismissing any good points by misrepresenting them. You know thats not an apt way to engage in any discourse

Is this your way of telling me my arguments are good? Thank you.

You don't know what nihilism is, do you?

But running around being moody would hide Batman better? How? The whole point of the playboy persona (which is just a persona), is the last person in the world you'd expect to be Batman, is the guy who is too busy being a rich boy. So in the realm of realism, I don't expect much from Logan Paul and in the universe of Batman, he'd be my last selection for the Dark Knight.

You made grandiose statements, and just state them as fact. And then say, "see more realistic". That's not how it works.

Moody depressed and isolated Bruce Wayne is man who has nothing to hide wears his emtions on his sleeve and has reasonable reaction to seeing his parents get shot in front of him as a young boy.

Donald Trump playboy Bruce Wayne feels unatrual forced like man hiding a part of himself.

One would make someone want to look deeper into Bruce Wayne to find out his real personality or life.

The other would make you think that the Bruce Wayne you see is the real him and all there is to him.

Debating Realism has gotten unduly distracting and heated on these boards and that has been a problem for a long time. It seems to be an all-consuming topic that distracts from other conversations and topics. As such, it is now banned outside of a designated Realism thread. That thread can be found here:

The Batman Realism Thread (No Debating Realism Outside This Thread)

Jesus Christ, guys.

I blame myself for making a comparison between the "I'm Batman" scene and "I'm Vengeance" scene.

It was poor communication because I didn't make clear I wasn't hating or trying to bring down the begins scene at all.

Just making a observation.

So you deleted my long reply instead of moving it to the other thread. Thanks for that.

I didn't know you wanted it moved, especially since that thread is opening the discussion from a blank slate. Since it is a new thread I thought you or others passionate about the topic might want to open discussion in a different way. Especially because of how heated things got in here.

Fair enough. I’m just glad this thread can be civil again.

Man, Keoghan is going to eat up his role in the GCPD series. Can't wait to see the complete downfall of Stanley Merkel into what we know as Joker

Then how are people determining hair color and scarring on his head?

I trust their direction but sparse hair? Right now I'm...eeeehhhhhhhhh

I don’t think we’ll see Merkel.

Maybe not, but it just makes too much sense. Seeing Stanley Merkel get corrupted by the city over the course of an entire season and the eventual downfall of his character leading to him becoming Joker and committing a terrorist act, getting locked up in Arkham

I actually think Mattson Tomlin was hired by Reeves because of this exact situation. Mattson had written a script years ago that is essentially a Batman story facing off against Joker in his first year of crime fighting. Joker was then locked up in Arkham and one year after the events, he was revisited again in his cell. I think these elements inspired Reeves and he took on Tomlin to help rework and apply some of those aspects of his script to Barry’s version of Joker, with his origins being shown in the GCPD series.

Actually, in an interview Mattson Tomlin had, he was directly asked about how he got the Batman writing job, and he answered saying he couldn’t reveal how as it is a direct spoiler for the film.

Or this could all just be wishful thinking on my part and the GCPD series will just focus on cops lol. But it makes too much sense not to be true.
