I knew it could be done.

It was only a matter of time, vision, and courage. And though it has been a long haul, in the end it came sooner than I would have thought. But here it is. And it is vindication.

They said a "film" batsuit could only ever be a black rubber suit. They said Black&Gray was a dead end and that all the money in the world couldn't make that look work. They said spandex. They said camp. They said you could not rip Batman from the comic page and translate it to the screen. They called us haters because we did not blindly accept what was given us. They said we were trolls because we dared to believe. They said it could not be done. It is done. And it is magnificent. And it trumps all that came before it.

It is Batman as he should look. A modern take on the original that embraces the traditional look rather than shy from it. A take that understands how much Kane and Finger got right 75 years ago. A look that has not diminished with the passage of time but that has endured and is deserving of it's place in the modern canon.

Traditional is no longer an old fashioned idea to be laughed off as the musing of delusional fanboys. Today tradition is the very definition of iconic.

I might change a thing here and there... I would have preferred a straight up DKR logo and a different belt design, but it was never about "my" ideal as much as it was a defense of the iconic look in all it's aspects not just the pointy ears or the scalloped cape and this checks off so many of the boxes that even I would have to characterize any complaint as nitpicking.

Having said that, not all questions are answered and I suppose there is the possibility it could all go bust, but if this:

... is what it looks like when the color is turned on then, well... the fight has been won.

Gray is the new black.

My work here is done.

I feel compelled to go to Detroit, find Wilkinson, and hug him.

Apparently so. The smoking gun seems to be the pecs. There's an edge to them whereas real pecs don't have edges.

Maybe so- I can see that. I just hope that suit is flexible enough for Ben to move easily and give Bats some real agility and purpose in his movements.

I hope it's flexible as well. I reckon it is, just like the supersuit. Henry had no problem moving in that. We really need a more agile batman this time.

Yup. God I love that spidersuit. Gives me hope that we can get an even better batsuit in a future movie.

That's the beauty of this Batsuit...when its time for Justice League they may tweak it even better

Why did Snyder release a monochrome pic of the Batsuit ? Does that mean that the Batsuit is not just a combination of Black and Gray ?

Maybe, it has a dark Brown belt and a navy-blue cape and cowl.

Didn't Wilkinson design that Spider-suit ? It was the reason why he was hired.

nope.

He was hired because he did the 300, Watchmen, Tron: Legacy, Sucker Punch and Man of Steel costumes

Par Avion's dead on.

The more you take these costumes to utility and practicality you end up with not a superhero costume.

The exposed chin/lips for Batfeck makes less sense cause Affleck or Bruce has a pretty identifiable chin cleft. The cape is just pure fantasy having it work in a real-world context. On this it looks like it's the fabric of Faora's cape, which works better for Batman than the cloth of Bale and Cavill's capes.

Kevin Smith's already confirmed it's a black cape & cowl and logo.

Plus, the monochrome really sets the mood while still teasing us.

he gave us enough while still leave unanswered questions

Affleck.
Kilmer-panther suit.
Bale-Batman Begins suit.
Bale-TDK/TDKR suit.
Kilmer-sonar suit.
Keaton-Batman 89.
Keaton Batman Returns.
Clooney-normal suit.
Clooney-ice suit.

Keaton's suits were not better than Bale's or Kilmer's. Seeing him struggle to even move around in them was just awkward to watch. It was another case of Burton's "style over substance" approach.

Well remember the time. The technology to make the suits had changed over the years because they learned from the last one. The Returns out was structurally a much better suit then the Batman outfit because they learned from it.

And the forever suits learned from that.

Then comes Spider-man and the wonders of neoprene.

And substance is kinda hard to swallow given how prior it was Adam West. I think Batman showing up like he did had a whole lot of substance.

I think he probably just thought monochrome looked cool

Knowing Snyder probably because he thought it was cool.

Aren't the Ironman suit's CG?

In the first movie they used a bunch of real suit made from fiberglass. But as the movies went on they started using less and less of the real stuff and more cgi. At this point Downey Jr either wears just the chest piece or red jammies with dots.

I hope it's flexible as well. I reckon it is, just like the supersuit. Henry had no problem moving in that. We really need a more agile batman this time.

Fingers crossed. My main worry at this point is whether Affleck's body is that nice heroic v shape like Cavill or the stocky/chunky physique that Frank Miller draws. It's hard to tell the angle the photo is shot at.

Nite Owl got around pretty good. This is one thing I'm not worried about at all. If he wasn't agile enough Snyder wouldn't be satisfied and would never have signed off on the costume.

I'm not too sure what the little spat is above. But the Spider-man suit I thought was pretty faithful with Raimi, now it's just a style choice. Also within the story, Spider-mans suit doesn't protect him because he has super powers. He can survive falling from the top of buildings.

But as to the iron man armor(again faithful is kinda hard given the many suits Stark has had in the comics). In the first film they used a real suit. But of course plenty of CGI. since Iron Man 2 though they have traded it in for all the mocap and some armor parts. But it's almost all replaced depending on the scene.

But they do have life sized models on set. Given Robocop they could make the make fully for the actor but then it's really all practicality.

One word to describe this new Bat suit with Big Ben as Bats:

No spat. Just making a point that comic accurate suits have been made in the past ergo a comic accurate batsuit could be made.

I wouldn't mind if batman and superman had different body shapes. I think Affleck and Cavill are shaped differently, so they should work with the shapes of the actors. I wouldn't mind a thicker Miller-esque batman. I don't think Affleck will look overly stocky though because of his height.

That's a great fight scene. It would be like Snyder to ensure batman can move, so I have faith.

I'm already calling this suit the best Bat suit out of all the suits we have seen in a live action Bat film.

Visually impressive and the design is fantastic!

Big  to Snyder and Wilkinson for a job well done on this puppy!

I hope you don't mean Batman found her cape and is now using it.
