two or three new songs. they talked about the new album a bit too, I guess they just finished recording it. Yeah, i was surprised at how tight they were myself. "So Here We Are" was beautiful.

There's a ton of cool shows coming up at the pool. Sonic Youth, YYY's, Shins, Iron&Wine, Neko Case, Walkmen....

Brooklyn. It's pretty ghetto, but it has its charms. Kids playing in the fire hydrants, people hanging out on porches, etc, stickball, all that stereotypical NY stuff. It's only for this month though, trying to find a more permanent place before Sept. Hopefully this pirated internet will keep going long enough for me to secure something, it's been touch and go. Got a job interview at 2, and as usual, I'm drinking in preparation.

Off the dekalb stop on the L. Decent amount of stores, but man is if befeft of bars.

Actually my brothers girlfriend lives off the Montrose L stop i think.
I'm north of the Bedford stop.

I'm not sure- but i think we're technically in the same neighborhood? (Greenpoint)

for bars you have to head more east- Bedford is the main drag of hipsterism.
A cool Bar a "bit" closer to you is Pete's Candy Store.
but ...yeah...you gotta hike to civilization to get properly soused.

I'm looking to move into Queens in september. I'm trying to find a place that's a good metro location to reach my friends in the upper west side and the lower east side, and also a place with wi-fi, since I just bought this reciever.

Wow, the bedford stop, that's a pretty kickass subway location.

Astoria? Long Island City? I have friends in each neighborhood. Also have a few way further out (Woodside).

Astoria's probably got everything you want, but LIC is also moving up on the register lately.

LIC would put you on the 7 train. It's a really consistent train, runs all the time and gets you in quick to Grand Central- from there you can shoot down to the LES. Or take the 7 over to Times Square to shoot up the west side.

Astoria wouldnt be bad either- you'd probably want to take the N.

anyhow- i know both areas ok (we almost moved to Astoria ourselves when we were apt. hunting). So if you have any questions about places or anythig , feel free to PM me or just ask in here.

Also, any New Yorkers feel like having a drink at around 4? After my job interview (officially my first) I'm gonna want to hit a bar. Any takers?

How old are you, man? I'm down for drinking with some random hypsters, since the only friends I have here don't get back into town until Sept. Haven't really had any time to find anyone to drink with (my roommate is working on his thesis, so he can't). As long as you're not like 40, I'd be down for drinking with whoever. Know any reasonably priced bars around brooklyn? Then you could post about drinking with the one and only Calvin.
