The Black Donnellys

So I watched it on nbc.com, and it was great...

so now, who was the older brother? Jimmy? Or Tommy? The guy with the messed up leg?

Nah, the one with the messed up leg IS Jimmy

BTW, anybody know what the ratings for the pilot were? I went to tvguide.com, and it said BD kicked off well, so **** yeah! :cmad::up:

Airs on Mondays at 10

But don' worry, the pilot repeats again on Thursday, so be sure to watch it. This was just an f'n awesome pilot, specially the end.

How'd it do- rating wise?

Fast National ratings for Monday, Feb. 26, 2007

CBS held off NBC for a ratings win Monday night, while the Peacock got only mediocre numbers from the premiere of "The Black Donnellys."

CBS earned an 8.8 rating/14 share in primetime, a little better than NBC's 8.2/13. FOX took third with a 6.9/10. ABC, 6.2/10, came in fourth, and The CW was well back at 1.7/3.

NBC grabbed the top spot in the adults 18-49 demographic with a 4.9 rating. CBS was a close second at 4.7, with FOX in third at 4.4. ABC averaged 3.8 and The CW 1.1.

"Deal or No Deal," 10.6/16, handily won the 8 p.m. hour for NBC. The race for second was tight, with FOX's "Prison Break," 5.9/9, holding off CBS' "How I Met Your Mother," 5.9/9, and "The Class," 5.7/9. ABC's "Wife Swap" was only slightly behind in fourth. The CW went with "Everybody Hates Chris," 1.9/3, and "All of Us," 1.6/2.

CBS took the lead at 9 p.m. with "Two and a Half Men," 10.5/16, and "Rules of Engagement," 8.7/13. NBC's "Heroes," 8.4/13, took second for the hour, ahead of "24," 7.9/12, on FOX. "Supernanny" delivered a 6.6/10 for ABC. "Girlfriends" and "The Game" finished the night for The CW.

At 10 p.m., "CSI: Miami" posted an 11.0/18 for CBS. The ABC-Oprah Winfrey special "Building a Dream" posted a 6.2/10, while "The Black Donnellys" premiere drew only a 5.5/9 for NBC.

# Ratings information is taken from fast national data, which includes live and same-day DVR viewing. All numbers are preliminary and subject to change.

The show was up against CSI:Miami and Oprah. I think the show would've been better off on FX or Showtime or HBO. Smaller season orders, they tend to show dramas you wouldn't see on network TV and you can get away with a bit more.

Alright someone be honest w/ me, is this series worth getting into?

Decent start, with an ending that'll have me checking it out again. It's like The Departed with a touch of The Godfather.

Damn, forgot it had to go up against CSI: Miami, that shows owns in the ratings for Mondays, even if an ep's a repeat. :csad:

Hoping for BD's ratings to boost though, watch this show people!

Dammit! :cmad::up:

NBC moved Studio 60 from Grey's and CSI to just CSI:Miami and it didn't premiere to great numbers either. I dunno, any viewers interested in BD are probably watching CSI:Miami or wrestling.

It's repeating the pilot right now, anyone watchin??

This show is awesome, has a Sleepers kind of vibe to it.

Yeah, that's how it felt to me. The whole set up with them as kids, and that one girl that the main brother always had a thing for, and she has a thing for him.

Good to see i'm not the only one. thanks.

I caught the encore last night, and wow this show is great. Awesome pilot, great chracters, and great ending. I loved it when Tommy just completly f***ing owned Sal in the end. Just great. I'll tune in next week for sure.

Funny. From what I can tell, the basic plot of the series reminds me a bit of Bendis' Daredevil run. That is, a genuinely decent person ends up becoming the boss of Hell's Kitchen and has to defend it from all the gangs looking to take over.

Not a bad pilot...I will be watching every Monday now.

just watched it online at NBC.com

it's pretty good, i'll stick with it for a few more weeks

The pilot showed that plenty of promise even if it felt slightly rushed with a convenient narrative device. The acting was top notch for such a young cast though. But I must say that the reviews are fairly negative with suggestions that episodes 2-5 don't live up to the expectations laid out by the first episode. It's quite a dark, complex and riveting drama and I hope that NBC don't ditch it after the mediocre ratings and the need for patient viewing.

I just watched the first episode it was okay.

This was a pretty good show. There is however one problem they will have to face. The reason the sopranos is so good is because it's on hbo. Network television has always had difficulty portraying mobsters because they cant' use the language and graphic violence that hbo can. The storyline will have to remain good enough to distract people from this.

LOL!
Captain Janeway is the mom of the brothers.

*I tried to post in here earlier. :cmad: :csad:

I loved the guy in his underwear and I wish they did a slo mo when he was washing off the blood. :meow: :o

This show may be a little too hardcore for me. I need to unwind and this just tenses me up.

I tried to watch the pilot but gave up about half way through. Just didn't like it.

It won't matter much though. Do a quick search for it on google news. Industry buzz is that it was only brought in to "replace" Studio 60 because it cost less to produce. It needed better than average ratings to continue and take over the slot.

It started on a short leash and is probably already slated for cancellation in the eyes of NBC execs due to a "less than stellar" showing for the pilot.

Joey Ice Cream was hilarious in tonight's episode. Putting himself in situations that leaves the 2 bros going "where - tf did he come from ?"
