What is your prediction now?

I wanna say $400 domestic with $800 worldwide, but might be 850. I figure 900 is the highest possible.

The buzz about this is INSANE

He was acting like he wanted the film to be big. Then he saw it really was going to make big money his true self comes out. It's like all the people calling to make fake reviews for Black panther, that's how racism works. We can't listen to alot of the reviews because racism will be behind most of them. That's just the way it is.

People can dislike the movie or change their mind about it based on quality and their own criteria. Cultural importance has nothing to do with how good a movie is.
You can call out people for being racist when they say something that is racist, not just because you find it to be the ultimate argument.

Best attitude to take. You have some clowns who are mad because people who want to support children seeing some positive images of themselves are willing to pay for tickets to the movie. How deplorable is that? You can't be happy for a bunch of kids getting to see a movie?Very sad.

Just as I see all of my Spider-Man movies 2-3 times, I will be seeing BP as many. I got my tickets from Fandango to help break the record for pre sales.

Given the incredible wave of early reviews, I think I'm changing my original predictions for domestic from 150 (4 day)/400 to 170 (4 day)/480. Overseas is hard to estimate but I do think there is now a small chance/longshot that this hits a billion. That would be absolutely incredible. Anything around the region of ragnarok/spiderman homecoming would already be very very good

BREAKING: #BlackPanther is now outpacing all other 1st quarter (Jan-March) releases in Fandango’s advance ticket sales, passing 2012’s ‘The Hunger Games’ and 2017’s ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ respectively. It is hands-down the first major movie event of 2018

Beating THG doesn't really mean much in 2018. But if BP is above BATB in terms of pre-sales, then just wow. This movie is blowing up big time. It has continuously performed well in pre-sales and has been able to keep it's pace in the entire ticket purchase window. 160 million 3 Day OW might happen.

THG came out in 2012. It's been 6 years since it released. Pre-sales have grown a heck of lot since then. I mean you'll hafta make a lot of considerations and allowances for 2 movies releasing within a 2 year span. 6 years is a lot of time and a lot has changed in terms of online purchase of tickets. So comparing THG with BP makes no sense. OTOH, comparing BATB and BP is reasonable as the latter released last year and even tho there has been an uptick in online ticket sales you can still compute a precise range for BP's OW off of it. BATB's pre-sales were humongous so it's absolutely fantastic that BP is ahead of it atm.

BP is going to be a behemoth. $100M+ opening would be expected and welcome, given Marvel's track record and the 'origin story'... but BP is outpacing that rapidly. Do not count out the walk-in numbers for this as well, which helped WW as well.

$175M opening for February sounds farfetched, but Deadpool hit $132M 3-day/$152M 4-day on a hard-R rating. BP has a more friendly PG-13 rating and 3D/IMAX surcharges working in its favor too.

I would not be surprised if BP's final weekend opening is close to doubling the initial tracking prediction, a la IT's $123M opening vs its initial $60M prediction.

Glad to see it's being shown some love in Korea. If it can do the same in Japan and China, our worries can rest and we can enjoy BP reach $850-900 million.
