The Bush Thread

It is incredibly ignorant to believe that Bush created the mess we had today. Now did he play his role? Of course. But to believe that any of the problems in this country should be placed upon the single shoulders of Bushs administration is ridiculous.

It cannot be placed on the Clinton Administration.

I blame the GOP run congress that allowed Bush to get away with the crap that put us in this mess.

Although I must say I'm not too happy with how the Dems are running things either. I wish they would grow a pair and stand up to the GOP. The Dems are the majority, They need to act like it.

Well, actually yes it can...the economy of this size has anywhere from an 8 to 10 year cycle. So, its pretty much a given that a previous administration's decisions on the economy will impact the next administration.

I didn't mean it as a slight to your intelligence...the link gives several different looks at what I was talking about.

LOL, so you blame the majority GOP, and now that they are no longer the majority, and Dems are you are still going to blame the GOP because the Dems can't stand up for themselves...

Beautiful...

So Bush is not a subscriber of "the buck stop here", nor are his "athletic supporters"

No, Bush does. Which is why he took blame for Katrina when it wasn't remotely his fault. It's also why Bush has been quiet since then. He is a total "buck stops here" guy.

I have actually gained a bit more rspect for W Bush post-presidency.

He is "his father's son"...he is following the guidance of his father. It's sad that other former presidents have not.

Is this the same Bush that couldn't think of one mistake he's made during his presidency?

Actually if the current congressmen would only follow suit (Clinton/Bush foundation etc) try some bipartisanship to get some work done......

He also had a lot of help from Clinton, from Democratic law makers, from a culture in Washington that was solidified under FDR, etc. And Obama hasn't helped.

Clinton was responsible for the giant Nasdaq bubble popping and for encouraging the otc derivatives through cheap credit monetary policy. Clinton's solution of loose monetary policy was reused by Bush to form the Housing people. In other words, it displaced the bubble. The likes of Krugman (archived records are available) encouraged this type of insanity, and yet he is suppose to someone we ought to listen to. The losers in the Clinton era - Rubin, Summers and Geithner - 2 of the 3 ended up with the most important economic job under the Obama administration.
