@Matt47

Found the quote regarding Bruce and Diana knowing each other's identities:

Batman and Wonder Woman have a meeting of alter-egos as Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince parry and flirt at a high-society function. “I love the fact that there was this Thomas Crowne Affair, Bond-y sexy scene that they wrote about two people who are pretending to be two different people who each know the secrets of the other person,” says Ben Affleck.

It kinda leaves an impression to me, that they are actually at odds. Especially with the "Thomas Crowne Affair" comparison.

Hmmm that's a good point. It would be interesting if WW actually says to Bruce that he will help him take down Superman, you know, for the greater good type thing?

Bruce ain't gonna like that. :hehe:

:lmao:

That's definitely the batwing. But it would be awesome if WW crashed it.

Yeah, it could be an uneasy alliance.

What I also have in mind is that, the way she is usually depicted, Wondy wouldn't be happy with Batman's methods any more than Superman is. She is actually sometimes shown as having much more difficulties to accept them than Supes does.

Of course, they don't necessarily have to go with this approach, I guess that her understanding why Bruce does what he does falls within the boundaries of her character, being raised as warrior and all... character is flexible enough for any of two possibilities.

I was thinking that to. It doesn't really seem like something WW would do..Gaah. I love that we don't really know what the heck is going on in this film!

Indeed. we've seen plenty, we know plenty... but then again, we don't really know that much in the end. And after all those leaked set pics, two trailers, two in-depth magazine articles and occasional info from other interviews with the director and the actors, I find that to be great.

Yeah man, I just hope I can told off on the tv spots when they start rolling.

Did you watch the Man of Steel ones at all?

I stumbled upon one or two, from what I can remember. Though I wasn't all that interested in "Man of Steel" when it was due to come out, as I've never really been a fan of Superman, nor have liked the character much prior to MOS. So, I guess I am one of those people MOS converted. It was the first time I found the character relatable and was able to understand where he's coming from and genuinely like him.

Dude so was I! I mean, I knew of him, I actually really liked Smallville when I was young, like around 12. But sort of lost track of it, then I saw that first full trailer for Man of Steel and was blown away, I guess that's why I love Man of Steel, because he is "my" Superman. I never got that argument that Clark was un-relate able in Man of Steel, he was a guy trying to find his place in the world for the first hour then the second was him trying to fix his mistakes, I think we can all relate to that.

If you watched Tommorowland there's a deft angle on this to help establish how old and immortal Diana is, despite her appearance, in the way she interacts with a grumpy old man.

:highfive:

That trailer certainly did pique my interest. What also got me curious is the fact that it was said that the film is to be grounded, and I remember thinking "how the hell do they plan to pull that off with such a character?". Also, Nolan's name as producer played a part as well, I guess. Still, I went into that experience quite interested, but not really expecting to like the film as much as I did. It was a pleasant surprise.

And indeed. I simply can't take that argument that he's unrelatable seriously, since for the first time in years I found the character to actually be relatable. So, for me, it doesn't hold water whatsoever.

I haven't watched it. I guess I should.

Oh yeah, the Nolan stamp did help a lot. At that point I'd never really seen a Snyder movie either, I didn't know of him other than 300 and I had only watched bits and pieces at friends places.

Man...I still remember sitting in the theater with my friends and a few gals and I no joke nearly started crying on the opening titles because I couldn't believe I was finally seeing the movie after obsessing over it for the last 6 or so months. Every looked at me with my fogged up 3d glasses like, "dude...what the hell..?" Then when Superman walked out of the scout ship I made a noise that I never have and might not ever do again haha I don't know what the hell it was but I hope I have the same reaction when Superman and Batman accept each other.

I was well-familiar with "Watchmen" (which is, along with "V for Vendetta" probably my favorite comic book film to date), but for some reason I just didn't make the connection. At least, I don't think I did (past tends to get fuzzy when you drink on regular basis).

Do let me know if the noise returns when you get to watch BvS. None further explanation won't be needed, it'll be a self-sufficient rating of the film. :woot:

I hope I will never hear that noise for, it would make me cry.

This pretty much sums up my feelings. I didn't see Returns in theatres & I wasn't going to watch MOS until I saw the trailer. And for the first time I actually felt something for superman and saw him as a "person". And the movie didn't disappoint me. His struggles as a child, his isolation & loneliness as an adult as he was trying to find his place. He was relateable & he resonated with me.

He finally learns who he is, meets his own kind in Zod, who offers Supes a chance for a world of his own people. Basically Zod offers Superman a chance to no longer be alone, the thing he has been searching for. And he has to kill Zod, kill his chances to live with his own people to save humanity.

Now I'm #TeamSuperman :woot:

haha will do buddy.

I for one kinda doesn't want Superman and WW to fight though..

yeah the film hit a lot of the right notes. the alienation. the humility. the sheer will it took to hold back when pushed. the empathy. the struggle to figure out who he was and what he should do. I think the moment that struck me was when he was a kid and struck the pose with the make-shift cape on. that is who he wanted to be. a champion who helped people. someone to stand up for the weak and those in harm's way. A protector. that was the thing that got me.

Count me as one of those people as well!

Actually the Donner film did it in a much better fashion. The conversation he has with his dad about why he shouldn't be proud of his powers or why he wants to champion the weak and serve humanity is beautifully written. And he realizes no matter what he cannot save everybody but it gives him a tenacity that is unsurpassed. I highly recommend you watch the first Superman film.

That scene with Pa Kent is like, the only scene I really like in the Donner films.

You don't like the helicopter sequence? That to me screams the very definition of Superman. And the earthquake sequences obviously.

That's what lacked in MOS for me tbh. No sense of heroism. No triumph where the public sees him as the savior.
