BvS The BvS Rumor/Speculation Discussion Thread! - Part 3

I love PoI and the parallels from that show to Batman are many. It's basically an even more grounded take on Batman. One that divides up the Bruce Wayne /Batman persona into two individuals. Reese is the Batman part and Finch is Bruce Wayne/Alfred/Oracle all rolled into one. The Machine is Brother Eye/Batcomputer, Carter is Gordon,Fusco is Bulloch,Zoe is Catwoman,Shaw is the Huntress/Batgirl ...

What Batman character would Root be?

If this OMAC theory ends up being true and the Doomsday rumors false, then my faith in this franchise is restored to new heights. Doomsday made no sense, OMAC definitely makes more sense.

Sure does.

Yeah, the OMACs would be great. I'm sure it would lead to Ultron comparisons by some people who need to stir the DC vs. Marvel pot, but there are enough differences there that it should be able to work fine.

Not too sure about her just yet. Just started season 3. Right now she seems a bit ..umm...obsessed and probably just slightly detached from reality. Or maybe she's seeing things more clearly than anyone else. So the jury is still out on her until I get to see how this plays out.

comicbookmovi.com site had pretty much lifted the entire forum version of the theory...

The OMAC Theory more plausible than DOOMSDAY?

"It’s about safety. This is a product that will protect you, and everyone, from threats you don’t even know about yet. I don’t want to scare anybody… much. But there are a lot of threats out there, and they’re here today.”

The OMAC (Omni Mind and Community) is a cyborg army originally designed to protect humanity from the "threat" of metahumanity.

After numerous unsuccessful experiments in genetic and mechanical grafts, the Project turned to using nanotechnology to convert otherwise ordinary individuals into Superhuman Soldiers called OMACs. Able to quickly generate a veritable army of such soldiers simply by introducing the OMAC nanobytes into an unwitting populace. Checkmate placed administrative control of OMAC units under the Brother MK I satellite recently "acquired" from the Superhero Batman. While initially a supporter of the spirit of the Project, Batman realized just how out of control the Project had become after the Infinite Crisis incident. As a result, he has made motions to stop the Project both politically as Bruce Wayne and personally as the Batman.

OMAC as villian confirmed! :sly:

Rather than comparing them when Ultron and his drones, I feel like the OMAC Drones have more in common with the Sentinels from "X-Men", especially with the models used in the Dystopian future for "Days of Future Past".

Assuming that OMACs will be featured in the film, perhaps they'll go with a more humanoid-looking take on their design, much like the Sasha Bordeaux model/variation.

Tao has the hair and body for that :D

If they really want to break the Omacs from the Ultron comparison, they'd use established characters as Omacs, like Lois or Alfred.

^ There are a few different routes they can take. Perhaps we'll just get a single superhuman entity derived from Zod's carcass, as opposed to a swarm of them; that is, a mash-up/amalgamation of Doomsday, OMAC, Bizarro and Wraith.

One can only hope...

Marvel ruined Ultron anyways hopefully DC can make an evil villain. Which I know they can unlike Marvel.

I liked Ultron; I thought he was cool and had a lot of personality. His plan was pretty dumb, but whatever. He was an enjoyable villain. But the OMACs should be the antithesis of that... they work best as mindless, terrifying drones.

*Shots fired*

Eh, he's not saying anything that wasn't said dozens of times already.

Anyway, I really don't care for any comparisons to Ultron or Sentinels, many ideas look very similar on paper (when was the last time you watched a truly original SF film, for example?), but in execution they differ greatly. There's room enough to make OMACs different than Ultron, Sentinels, T-800 and T-1000, replicants from "Blade Runner", Geth from "Mass Effect", Agent Smiths from "Matrix", etc.

Yeah, as overused as nanotech is in sci-fi today, what makes the OMACs so cool is that literally ANYONE can be one and the heroes don't realize it until it's too late. I guess that's similar to the Agents in The Matrix, but there are enough differences that it can still feel fresh.

Indeed, one should look for things that differ from other similar characters and emphasize them. Them hiding as normal people while not entirely unique is definitely something that differentiates them from Ultron and Sentinels. People being trapped in the form of OMAC is something that is even more unique to them...

Anyway, as I said, it all comes down to execution. Two films might have almost identical synopsis', but when you actually watch them they couldn't be more different.

Yeah, because that gives the heroes an even tougher foe to defeat. They can't just destroy them like Ultron-bots or sentinels because there are people inside.

If OMACs are the villains, I hope Lois is turned into one. It would make the reason why the heroes can't destroy the OMACs a bigger deal.

Ehhh I'd rather lois not be another damsel in distress. I think innocent people being in them is more than enough reason for them not to destroy them

I am partial to both parts of the argument. It certainly raises the stakes and makes Lois more present in the main plot, then again, I also don't want them to make Lois a regular damsel in distress in these films...
