i will say this. Perhaps the things that could have easily been removed from the movie were also things WB wanted left in.

All the future dream stuff/flash/JL cameo stuff added nothing to the film per se but were hints of JL.

Those things will make sense as they are essentially tied to what happens in the JL movie.

Cameos were also important as they are basically serve as introductions to characters which will feature in JL.

Did anyone else love how news media was used to convey what was going on,which is straight out of TDKR?

There are so many examples,the vandalising of Superman statue,the interview of the africa lady,the interview of Finch,the whole Superman montage,Jon Stewart,the whole coverage of aftermath of senate bombing,the coverage of troubles at the scoutship,etc etc.

I liked that, it helps in creating a much more grounded world.

I loved that little snippet when they are burning Superman's effigy(which is a nod towards Watchmen),and the little kid looks towards his mom,and she shakes his head.

Such a strong moment,signifying there were still people who believed that Superman was good.

Just finished watching!

It's amazing how much more well crafted the UC is. Particularly the entire second hour(namely everything surrounding the Senate bombing)- Scenes now flow into each other naturally, etc etc. I do think it was a mistake not releasing this cut into theaters. Only changes I would have made would be to take out the Knightmare sequence and the Communion scene, reinstate the Clark looking for his mom scene, and release THAT to theaters. The UC should have then had the Knightmare and Communion scenes, in addition to whatever other goodies they cut out of even the UC.

Lol. That might have actually made the Bat-butt serve a purpose.
I love me some nudity, but that shot was one of the most pointless additions, I found. Seriously, what purpose did that serve?

I could be missing some metaphorical character point Snyder was attempting to make with the visual, but it was lost on me.

Agreed. Same movie, but better. Still not a particularly great movie though. Has many of the problems the theatrical cut had. But.... It all makes a lot more sense now!

Anyone else notice in the Ultimate Cut, the Superman hearings occur at exactly the half-point of the movie (approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes in)? It's a small detail but I'm sure it's purposeful in its execution.

Loved the theatrical version. Ultimate Cut really brings everything home.

I'm in the UK and I still haven't found anywhere to watch this. I was hoping to be able to grab it from the Playstation store on my PS4 but no luck. Anywhere else I try to get it, it just asks me to pre-order it.
