The Catwoman/Selina Kyle Casting Thread - Part 1

While Theron looks to be playing an awesome character in Atomic Blonde, I don't think she'd be the best Catwoman.

Catwoman will most likely turn up in Gotham City Sirens first so they are probably going with someone closer to Margot Robbie's age.

Which would be a terrible decision, going beyond "bad" into the realm of "gross".

Go with Anne Hathaway again. She is 34, Ben Affleck is 44, so 10 years difference. Margot Robbie is 26, so 8 years difference. There is your middle right there. Problem solved.

I'd take Hathaway over many of the actresses being tossed out in this thread. A C list TV actress who was on Lost? No. A supporting actress from Juno who hasn't really done much since? Better but still.

Theron? Maybe. Beckinsale? I'd rather not. She's played variations of Selina for most of her career. It'd be kind of useless. Patton? No. Not very Selina Kyle like. Heady? Sure, she'd be a safe but decent choice. They are all quality actresses though, so I'll agree with you there. I do feel like Gugu Mbatha- Raw would make for an interesting choice. She can act and she has the spunk needed to play the character.

But that's not what you did. You expressed revulsion at the concept of two consenting adults having a romantic relationship, if their ages differ. You're still doing it. It's no better than saying that a relationship between two people of the same gender is "gross".

Bluntly, no, it was not. You choosing to read that in is your choice, just like you could have chosen to ask for elucidation. Not necessarily present day, they just didn't have to start their respective careers within the same year.

huh? What kind of weirdo would assume a 40+ Batman had been knocking boots with a 20+ year old Catwoman ten years previously? Bizarre. Did you assume that, in BvS, Batman had in fact known and worked with Superman and Wonder Woman for years, but that everyone had been mind-wiped?

Its an option, sure, but the Affleck-Batman has been doing his thing for 20 years or so. If you make Catwoman too new of a villain, it starts looking odd, at the least, given she's one of the most iconic Batman characters. Still preferable to implying that the played-by-actress-whose-22 Catwoman has been his foil/love interest since the beginning, mind!
