The Catwoman/Selina Kyle Casting Thread - Part 2

Now you have a point with the Daniel Craig thing.

Though it's still a bit contextually different.

And again... the way Comer expressed herself didn't even sound like her problem was how deep the character was, she just "didn't feel she had it in her" to play that type of catsuit femme fatale character, regardless of how complex it is. Maybe she can change her mind, but seriously don't hold your breath for her to be cast as Catwoman.
I'm not holding my breath over anyone. The field is wide open for this role. I just think it's silly to outright dismiss her because of comments she had made in the past, when actors have shown time and time again that they will change their tune given the right circumstance.

I know for a fact Black Narcissus is gonna like this pick lmao If Doom Patrol gets cancelled she could be a good choice (Diane Guerrero)

Nooo sir! Bad choice. I would sit with her on a couch and talk and tell her she has a chance, but I believe that is now frown upon these days.

:o

For me I'd lump Chloe Grace Moretz in the same place as Miles Teller as Batman or Logan Lerman... even if they give the best performances of their lives, I have no desire to see them in the role because of their looks.

I think Chloe is hot, and this is how I feel about Vanessa Kirby (and some other choices). But what are you gonna do?

Not that I especially see Catwoman in her, either.

Words of wisdom, right here.

Ultimately there are a ton of potentially great picks for Catwoman out there and there's no real reason to be too tied to one specific individual here. Heck, that's why I spent most of the past year telling myself not to think about R-Patz for Batman very often- it just so happened to work out that he landed the role and was pitch perfect for this new iteration of Batman.

Granted, I also recognize that there are also a few names out there that I know I wouldn't be keen on seeing as Catwoman personally, so I suppose it's all relative anyway. :funny:

I wonder if looking at the actresses that played the romantic interests in the films Reeves is using as inspiration (Taxi Driver, Chinatown, Out of the Past, the Hitchcock films, etc) might give us an idea of what kind of actress he may be interested in. After all, the Taxi Driver thing kinda gave a clue to Pattinson as he is the most De Niro type actor of his generation

For the sake of argument. Here are the love interests of the neo noir/noir films Reeves is using as an inspiration.

Cybill Shepherd (Taxi Driver)

Faye Dunaway (Chinatown)

Jane Greer (Out of the Past)

Kim Novak (Vertigo)

It's also worth noting that the love interests/femme fatales in those films and the performance given by their actresses end up being ridiculously important for the final product as a whole and the identity of their films, so it may very well be possible Reeves may be looking for an actress that reminds him of those types of femme fatales and love interests of those films.

Outside of them all being hot in their day, the characters they played in those films are wrong for Catwoman. I think you are taking some of his favorite flicks way too literally. Inspiration can be a setting, tone, many other things etc, but to each their own.

It's just for the sake of argument since we have nothing else to base casting of Catwoman of, and to add a new angle to this discussion.

Although Jane Greer did play a character more similar to Selina at least a bit on how deceiving she is.

I read that Claire Foy casting rumor. She makes sense on paper (I'm not an ageist). :o

That casting would bring out the worst in the fanboy community tho.

The more I think about it, the more Lily James is actually giving me some serious Anne Hathaway vibes for Selina. I dig that fan-casting a lot, especially if she were to have a strong chemistry with Pattinson.

Haven't seen it yet for myself, but James got a fair bit of praise for her recent performance in a thriller called Little Woods alongside Tessa Thompson. Definitely seems like the sort of film that might stir Reeves' interest, based on how he was intrigued by Pattinson for Good Time and High Life and Hoult in The Favourite.

Lily James always plays way too young for Catwoman for me. Claire Foy would be a good choice though, she's certainly a great actress
