Tonight on E.T. Brandon Routh (aka Superman) spoke out in support of Christian Bale. (Forgive the bad quality :( I took it off my tv with my camera.)

Well I agree with you there, but that hasn't stopped a mass of people from bashing him. I think anyone in the industry knows pretty well what went down and why.

Eh, if people are bashing him publicly, there will be a bunch of people rushing to defend him as well. It's sorta how these things go. :funny:

You know what's funny? If the news didn't include the audio clip and it was just read (Actor Bale shouts on set of Terminator) headline no one would give two ****s. :o

That said, I thought it was hilarious. Sorry, perhaps I am heartless.

Bale is a very intense, quiet man who takes his craft very seriously. Yeah many are whining about his rant. But let him be. He is who he is, and he cares greatly about what he is doing to earn the pay he gets.

He is also used to working with Nolan's folks, not noobs. /selfless fanboy last-minute badly-timed rant

P.S. never forget that Christian does not care about fame, awards, notoriety, acceptance or pride. He wants to do his best and demands it of those around him. heath Ledger also cared little for the fanfare and B.S. This is work to them and they like it and take it to heart.

The public won't brush it off because any of us are the equivalent of the DP...someone at work who's low on the totem pole to an extent, and we've all been chewed out before in front of everyone, so we're gonna side with the DP obviously. Bale is one of the elite.

I don't really care what he did, he's a great actor, and something minor like this won't change anything for me. Everyone here is quick to judge and write him off, but they wouldn't appreciate the same being done to them.

Judge not, lest ye be judged. ;)

Agreed.

Except that a DP on a filmset is hardly low man on the totem pole...

one of the few posts in this thread that makes any sense...

I dont see why this has gone on so long...at the end of the day, everyone's gonna watch T4 and not give a damn about this anyway.
It's so damn entertaining that's why :applaud, I've been listening to it in my car all week.

*stops at red light*

"No!, no!"

Hahahah. I've been quoting it every chance I get. In my writing class:

"If you didn't do that, it's fine"

"Let's go AGAIN!"

Epic avvy btw.

Uh, a DP oversees all of the cameras and lighting. He's the guy in charge on a film set right after the director and assistant director, and that's depending on the director and the AD. I mean, what is the actor supposed to do if there's no DP there to light and film him? Unfortunately, if an actor is going to be at odds with anyone on a set, it's either a director or DP because they are in charge of making them look good. :funny:

Too bad the public isn't aware of the hierarchy on a film shoot. :oldrazz: The director of a photography on any film is NOT anywhere close to a PA. The actor is the last ingredient to a shot, but their job can be the most stressful because they are the last ingredient - you have 100+ people depending on you to deliver so they can move on to the next set up. Everyone has their role on a film set.

^OK, you got me. I'm letting that slide since you're usually on point, girl. :p

I take it as hilarious. It's brilliant really. Bale is awesome because of it. I love to see famous people snapping, or even the regular ones. I'm certainly not hating on 'im

With that said, he probably does have some anger management problems. Or maybe July was just a sucky month for him :hehe:

Yes. The DP is very high on the food chain of movies. That's why I'm surprised this happened with a DP. I can see a grip or gaffer doing something stupid like that, but not a DP. Again not trying to excuse CB, but the DP's got to know better.

P.S. The funniest thing about DP's in school were that out of all of us they had the biggest egos.

Could you imagine if Bale was on a film with RDJ and he chewed him out like this?! It would cause an all-out war on the hype.

It would be fairly lulz-worthy.

Man, I can't stop listening to this. Any chance I get I crank it up and allow Bale to let it all out. And I too have been quoting it lately. Hehe. My buddy was telling me how happy he was about some crap the today, and all I could say for the next five minutes was "OHHHH! Good for yoooooouuuuu!!!!" :funny:

BTW, am I the only one who finds it amazing that this is actually the most individual publicity Bale has ever received. I mean yeah, TDK was huge, but the guy's never really had the spotlight shone so brightly upon him. Ironically, this whole ordeal may aid a little in his recognition. Maybe. :hehe:

I just heard it today for the first time. I'm sure this is against fan support, but Bale came off as a complete unprofessional *****e bag.

It sounds like the DOP disrupted Bale's concentration and ruined a take (albeit he did not step in line of the camera or McG would have noticed) and even if this is the second time, Bale has right to be frustrated.

But he should have had the discussion between him, the DOP and the director privately. Literally SCREAMING at the man for 4 minutes and threatening to hurt him, wreck thousands of dollars of equipment, quit and promise to never work with him again in front of everyone while dropping over 20 f-bombs is completely unprofessional.

I couldn't help but think of Tropic Thunder, which I had just rewatched last week. Bale came off as a Lazerus primadonna.

Too bad. He is still an amazing actor who I have a lot of respect for, but he did not handle that well at all. And neither did McG. The director's job is also to keep the set productive and instead he let a very uncomfortable verbal fight break out between his acting talent and crew that likely drew anger behind closed doors on each side of the camera line afterwards. He should have defused that situation as soon as Bale started going off.

Too bad. Hope Wally never gets in Bale's eyeline in the next Batman movie.

Yes, that's right. He just does movies like Reign of Fire, Batman, Terminator and considered being James Bond at one point because of the richness of the material and its depth of complexity and not because he wants to be a movie star. I mean he is one of the best actors of his generation and his Batman films are exceptional, but they were all career choices attempting to make himself a star. I'd say he is interested in fame, at least a little bit.
