The director of 'The Wrestler' (Darren Aronofsky) came out in support of Bale stating " "I think he was right. I don't think he was out of line." and ""It is a sacred time between action and cut. If it was the first time it was excusable, but a second time that ruins it."
He added that he did not think the language used had been "abusive beyond call" and that he had seen many worse things go on on set.

Also veteran director Michael Winner said Bale was "100% right" to lose his temper.
"It is a golden rule on a movie set that you do not walk about in front of the artist during a take - you do not distract him."
Winner, whose last film was 1999's Parting Shots, added: "Why should Christian Bale interrupt what could have been his best reading of those lines, and say very quietly, 'please don't walk while I'm acting'."

So, the DP goes from the guy who's constantly tweaking the lights to not being on the set at all? If true, Bale completely changed this guy's working mode. Impressive.

He definitely has to make sure of his lighting setup then, huh?

I'm still annoyed that people are more up in arms over the movie-making business being so stressful, and not up in arms at all over our medical field. 30-hr shifts are normal, heck, even EXPECTED. And nobody cares if they get a sleep-deprived nurse tending to them in the hospital?

I mean, if you can't take being chewed out on a regular basis, don't go into Hollywood, but you can't say the same for the work environment of our medical providers. I mean, these people will be taking care of you at your sickest!

Like I have said to many people about this, I respect Bale as an actor, and I have no intentions of boycotting his movies. I can also understand his frustration to the DP (the DP was wrong to do what he did), but Bale was in the wrong by throwing a tantrum like that. It was completely out of line, and childish. I've expressed anger before, but nothing of that caliber.

And the fact that the Hollywood stars are defending him on this doesn't sway me to think otherwise. Hollywood actors think that what they do is god-like, so of course they would condone this crappy behavior.

Except there have been directors, screenwriters, and other film professionals (not just 'God-like' actors) coming to his defense who are well acquainted with the industry and environment.

And I have expressed anger at a calibre far beyond that. It has been said multiple times that the man apologized. Do you honestly believe saying a string of curse words is an unforgivable offense? If murderers and rapists can be let out of prison and given a fresh start, I'm pretty sure someone losing their cool with someone and cursing them out is quite small in the grand scheme of life.

Oh, and saying garbage like "You obviously don't know what it's like to deal with actors" really sounds egotistical. To me, Bale seriously comes across as a big tool in this clip.

And my bad for just calling out actors. I actually meant all of Hollywood. Practically everyone in Hollywood thinks their doo-doo doesn't stink, so they justify unruly behavior like this.

Yeah, as been noted several times this is a "regular" situation on film sets. So of course the industry people are going to be pretty "meh" about the whole thing. It's the same ol', same ol' routine.

Given Bale's respected status as an actor, he would rightly have the defense of his peers.

This whole thing does not take away an ounce Bale's talent. Like I said, I'll still go see his movies. I learned to separate the actor from their characters a loooong time ago, and I'm glad I did.

I would have probably done the same thing lol. The guy would have been called out by someone eventually. I think Bale deserved to be the one to do it and in front of everyone so the DoP would feel like an a$$hole. The media shouldn't even be involved honestly. This kind of stuff happens all the time on movie sets and you never hear about it. Someone needed some cash and figured they would make it off the star of the biggest film of all time (screw Titanic). The real a$$hole here is the person who released the tape in the first place.

i agree. McG, as the director, should have had enough control over his set that a situation like should have never happened. That is to say, it seems like this DP is habitual about messing with lights when he shouldn't be. McG should've dealt with that DP the very first time he even tried pulling that crap. Bale shouldn't have had to lose his temper. The fact that Bale went ballistic is proof that McG never had control over his DP in the first place. i thought it was great in the audio when Bale tries to get McG involved by asking " did you see that?!" and McG is all " i didn't see it."

tell you what: i am going to go ahead and defend him ( if thats okay with everyone) and you can go ahead and think whatever you want to think. i'm not trying to change minds. Just making my voice heard.

Where did I say I wasn't laughing? I have the remix downloaded and have listened to it for days. I also have a stack of angry Kermit macros and icons over it. Don't assume because I don't think the man should be taken out and shot that I fail to have a sense of humor about it.

Like I said above, this isn't about Bale to me, I don't know him and never will and if he's an ass or a Saint doesn't change the fact that I think he makes good flicks. My issue with this has been how so many people have been on a freakin' moral high horse pretending they've never lost their cool. I've gone on cursing rants, and I've threatened to hit people and I'm honest enough to admit it and am not acting like a damn Puritan when it comes to a series of curse words. I never said his behavior at that moment wasn't assholish, I meant that less than four minutes taken out of context does not = the man is nothing but an ******* in every aspect of his life. If you think you've pissed me off you couldn't be more wrong. I've been laughing my ass off at you. You were the one who drove into a thread telling others they should all behave as you think they should. I find that behavior amusing, just like all the people saying they won't go see the next Batman movie because Bale is an ass.
