The Dark Knight The Christian Bale/Bruce Wayne thread

Another Hollywood producer comes to Bale's defense:

"I know the guy who pissed him off" Butch Kaplan has worked as a Hollywood producer for over twenty years. His most recent films are "Babylon A.D.", "The Assassination of Richard Nixon" and "The Patriot".

This was nothing that we haven't seen before, and in this case, the actor was completely right. I know the guy who pissed him off, and I'm not surprised to hear what happened. He's what we call in the industry a 'tweaker'. It's people who are very insecure about what they're doing that they constantly need to 'tweak' things.
A lot of actors have a hard time getting into the place of the character. You're trying to make it real, you're having a really deep moment, and then there's this guy, tweaking the lights. It's as if he's saying 'what I'm doing is more important than what you're doing - it's all about the lighting'. What Bale said was rude, but what Hurlbut did was so disrespectful. And the funny thing about this, is that Bale was more right than 95% of actors who pull this stuff. Not only actors, but producers, directors. Sometimes they even get into punch-ups, and most of the time they at least storm off set and refuse to come out of their trailer. The people who act up the most actually have the most power; a little tantrum earns you respect here.

However in this case it wasn't a power trip, it was a true explosion of frustration. A case of 'I'm trying to do my job and you're totally screwing me over'."

(The source has the Bale audio on it, so I'm not going to provide the link.)

If you think you've pissed me off you couldn't be more wrong. I've been laughing my ass off at you. You were the one who drove into a thread telling others they should all behave as you think they should. I find that behavior amusing, just like all the people saying they won't go see the next Batman movie because Bale is an ass. And if you think this has hurt Bale, well, let's just say I'm sure he'll be the one laughing all the way to the bank. :hehe:

And by the way, I wasn't the only one who replied to your comment to the contrary. :cwink: (but keep telling yourself that it only takes one person to argue, I'll just laugh harder in response.) :oldrazz:

vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv

Um, how about you do what you want, and let others do the same? I don't think you have a right to say what others should do, just like you shouldn't have a say on what Bale should or should not do. Those words weren't spoken to you, and are hardly things that NO ONE ELSE ON EARTH HAS EVER SAID.

The facts are that this happened six months ago to a stranger by a stranger and is NO one's business. I think no one is defending Bale like family, they are defending the fact that the act was HUMAN and hardly something everyone should have their panties in a wad about. Who the hell cares if someone curses for 4 minutes? I can scream profanities in traffic for longer than that. Hardly means I'm an *******.

Funny. I wasn't talking about me being the one pissing you off. And I seriously hope you are laughing. Because judging by the way you came at me, you reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy care about what people are saying about Bale. "And if you think this has hurt Bale". You sound like his PR manager. NOW THAT is amusing. Another hollywood producer comes to Bales defense? And your not hurt every time someone ****s on Bale? I sincerely hope I'm wrong tho, because anyone who takes time to argue with complete strangers about their opinions on complete strangers, on a complete stranger's behalf, is pretty sad. Oh and the other person who replied to me, didn't jump on my back and get all pissy and defensive like a fourth grader, like you did. I never said anything disgracing the guy. I stated the facts. You stated defense. But you are right tho, I shouldn't tell people what to do. If people want to lurk this thread looking for an excuse to argue with somebody needlessly, dampening their buzz from taking amusement in a grown man making a child of himself for the sake of acting mightier than though, while waisting everyones time, including THEIR OWN - they should be free to do so. So I guess I apologize to you. Please continue.

:applaud:applaud:applaud: Congratulations, you have succeeded in proving that you do care about more than just laughing about the subject.

" I sincerely hope I'm wrong tho, because anyone who takes time to argue with complete strangers about their opinions on complete strangers is pretty sad. "

Oh yes, and you also proved you don't know the definition of irony. ;)

The infamous rant can actually pay off at the next award season, hear me out. If they had any footage of Bale screaming at the DP, replace the DP with a cgi Terminator and TADOW. You have John Connor screaming at a Terminator, telling it to f-off, the Terminator gets so stressed out the it implodes. Instant osar nomination.:woot:

Bale was right, end of story...
He's the GODDAMN Batman!

Actually, it means exactly that :oldrazz:

"Kevin and Bean from KROQ received a surprise call from Christian Bale this morning during Ralph’s entertainment segment. I thought it was going to be another segment where they were going to make fun of Bale’s outburst, but it turned out to be the real Christian Bale. Now we get to hear his side of the story.

Bale said that he’s not used to being a movie star and still thinks of himself as an actor first. And when he gets into his role, he really gets into it. He was talking about his character of John Conner, who has a crazy side of him just like his mother. There’s a scene in the movie where it shows that, and that’s the scene that he took it too far when Shane, the DP interrupted his concentration, and he became half John Conner and half Christian Bale.

He said that he wasn’t bullying Shane, because Shane is a big dude who used to play football and that most of the stuff he said about wanting Shane fired is just “hot air.” He later explains to Kevin, Bean, and Ralph that he apologized to Shane that very day and they still worked on the movie together for one more month. They even got in contact last week and Bale saw some of Shane’s work and he said that it looks good.

Well pretty much, Bale said that please forgive his action, and that he owns up to it. He said that it’s no excuse to act that way, even if you’re a celebrity. He also mentions that don’t look at him as a star, but as a human, and that everyone makes mistakes. He asks Kevin, Bean and Ralph if they ever had a bad moment, lost their temper, and had regretted later on in their life, and Ralph replied, “Yeah, all the time with Kevin and Bean.”"

Awww, this is great. Bale FTW  I was wondering when he'd make some kind of statement.

If it wasn't for the "media", we wouldn't be reading all these statements from actors/directors.

In any case, support from the industry was what I expected. Especially for someone highly respected as Bale is. I think everyone knows by now he takes his career seriously, so a blow-up isn't necessarily gonna taint his image to his peers.

Nope. Wrong side of the media.

The media that we're getting all these supportive comments is online quotes and whatnot. The media I'm referring to is the big one on TV, shows like E and that even lamer TMZ as well as late night talk show hosts. They most likely won't be showing the other side of things and usually in the past when they do it's very brief and quickly gets swept under the carpet.

In fact sad to say my gf watches TMZ from time to time and so far they've only shown the bad side of things.

The supportive stuff from Ron Howard and everyone else is mainly only going to be seen by online dwellers like ourselves.

That's good to hear. Bale is humbler and kinder than I thought. I guess the only thing you can really expect is that people are aware of their mistakes and try not to do it again. :yay:

His apology was a class act, and now maybe everybody can move on past what was really a non-issue.

Christian Bale Apologizes for "Potty Mouth," "Unexcusable" Rant

Gina Serpe – 1 hr 43 mins ago

Los Angeles (E! Online) – There are at least two men with whom Christian Bale is not professionally done: Los Angeles DJs Kevin and Bean.

After a week of unrelenting press coverage in the wake of his leaked onset rant, Bale unexpectedly chose to break his silence over the incident on KROQ radio's popular morning show, taking full responsibility for his Terminator: Salvation explosion.

"It's been a miserable week for me," Bale told hosts Kevin Ryder and Gene "Bean" Baxter. "Listen, I know I have a potty mouth, everybody knows this now.

"The thing that I really want to stress is I have no confusion whatsoever. I was out of order beyond belief. I was way out of order. I acted like a punk. I regret that.

"There is nobody that has heard that tape that's been hit harder by it than me. I make no excuses for it. It is unexcusable. I hope that that is absolutely clear."

As for what brought on the much-played rant, Bale said that the day's shooting was particularly intense and that he "puts so much into what I do and care so much about it and sometimes the enthusiasm just goes awry."

"I'm ebarrassed by it. I ask everybody to sit down and ask themselves, have they ever had a bad day and have they ever lost their temper and really regretted it immensely."

Not that he doesn't understand the public's insatiable desire to hear—and mock and remix—the audio.

"Feel free to make fun of me at my expense, I deserve it completely.

Bale, who could easily have chosen any worldwide media out to deliver his mea culpa, said he selected KROQ because had been listening to the morning show's mockery and incessant playing of his rant all week.

"I spoke with you guys a few years back, you seem like good guys and I wanted to talk with you about it," he said, before adding that the deejays' take on his rant made him laugh. "Believe me, this is no punk."

Kevin and Bean, meanwhile, had a slightly more humbling take on why they were chosen.

"You can talk to a guy who tries to high-five a blind dude or you can talk to Kevin and Bean, those are your options in the morning," they said.

(For those doubting the validity of the scoop, Bale's rep Jennifer Allen has confirmed that it was the actor, and not the station's dead-on Bale impersonator, Ralph Garman.)

As for any residual hard feelings between Bale and the object of his onset rant, the actor said it ceased being an issue shortly after the outburst.

"We have resolved this completely...I have no intention of getting anyone fired. There is no problem whatsoever."

ah finally!

and i tip my cap to Bale who owned up to it. i'd wonder when he would comment on this and if he would just downplay it by saying its been so long, but he admitted his mistake and gave a pretty complete perspective of what went down. thats being fair. thats the Christian Bale i know

now to watch in bated breath his interview with Colbert. :p

It's about time Bale spoke out. I'm glad he did because all this hoop-la was feeling incomplete without his input. He handled that incredibly well, and much more importantly he owed up to his behavior and admitted he was in the wrong (unlike what some would have you believe :o ).

Great showcase of professionalism there.

this is all true, but this outburst happened 6 months ago

....does it really matter that he apologizes to the world at this point? because he clearly isnt apologizing to the dp

He already apologized to the DP. And he has to speak up now because it was this week when this became REALLY public.

First he beats his mother and sister and now he treats this guy like if he was an animal. I like Bale as an actor but as a human being not so much. He clearly has issues.

Still, it's not right to treat people like that.
