I don't think Rachel will get killed simply because Maggie wouldn't want to be in a sequel !!!

And in total honesty she seemed pretty frank and sincere when saying that she really would like to be in the third ! Of course she probably lied to us in a very good way (I totally bought it) but it's mainly Nolan and her part which attracted her in TDK !

Thanks for posting what I was thinking. I was too lazy to respond to that. lol

But why would Nolan take that risk? Maybe she was honest, but she didn't want to do it at first, that's clear. Why would Nolan risk having to change the actor for ANOTHER film? If he and WB were that apathetic, then Bale and friends wouldn't have signed contracts!

Maggie saying she'd like to be in another one doesn't prove anything, Topher Grace said the same thing about Spider-Man and died in the first one he was in. It could be just be meant to throw us off and avoid giving away their character's fate. I'm sure they realize we're going to analyze their answers to questions like that to clues about whether they make it or not.

Rachel dying could either be cliched or a really hit-in-the-guts kind of scene, depending on how it's handled, IMHO. Really the only character who I think has any realistic chance of dying that I really hope doesn't die is Joker.

Wait, wasn't there an interview with Maggie where she said she would be interested in playing Rachel again?

EDIT: Oops, didn't see your post, MiniBond.

Which she can say without giving away that her character dies.

Tbh if anyone should kill rachel (i hope not tho) it should be two-face, just like what happened to Poter/Potter in Dark Victory. =D

Not to mention...Mcguire said it as well during the first trailer of Spider-Man 3 only to come out and say he's not doing another. They say these things all the time, it's to SELL a movie and please fans.

Makes you think about this scene a bit...

Or guilt that his theatrics might have contributed to her death. Poor guy. More guilt over the murder of yet another loved one.

What if she's in the trailer of the truck that he causes to flip?

Are we going to see skull?

WHAT?!! Why would they give that up?

So is it safe to assume that Batman saves Joker from Two Face?

Hmm, that would be interesting to see, Batman save the Joker?

Regarding Eckharts quote about Dent's fiance being killed and people automatically assuming it is Rachel, has anyone taken into account the time line between films one and two? I say this because if it's only a short time between films one and two then an engagement between Dent and Rachel would seem unlikely.

I'm never sure about how I feel about them bringing Rachel back just to kill her off. I think it's kind of a stupid reason to bring such a role back after the events of BATMAN BEGINS. But if it's handled really, really well, it could work. I can see how they might lean on that as motivation for Harvey Dent and Bruce alike.

I'm wondering...if she dies, will it be The Joker who kills her, or will it be the mob?

I thought you guys already knew that Rachel was a goner?

Well, at least, that's what I believed, considering it shows the Joker dropping her from atop a building (presumably at the penthouse party) in the new trailer.

What do you guys think about Two-Face as a sort of vigilante crimefighter? I need to read up on him, as most of what I've seen from him comes from the cartoons, but I always thought he was a bit more of a criminal himself. Also, please direct me towards some must-read Two-Face material.

Here's an idea....

We heard a while back that The Joker takes control of two barges leaving Gotham - one with all the innocent people, and one with all the criminals - and he makes the authorities choose which one he will blow up. What if Rachel's on the boat with the convicts, and Dent is forced to choose to let her die for the greater good? It could really help to nudge along that whole duality complex, life and death on the flip of a coin etc...

Must-read Two-Face material:

The Long Halloween
Dark Victory
Faces
Crime and Punishment

I have a very stong feeling that The Joker will be the one to kill Rachel. I mean, it would give Harvey all the more reason to kill The Joker, but Bruce will know what Rachel stood for. Like the scene in Begins where Bruce goes to kill Chill and he tells Rachel, and she tells him that his father would be very ashamed.

Now, Rachel stands for justice. Harvey will be looking for vengeance if she is to die.

Bruce will make the right choice and know that The Joker has to be put away, he has to be tried. Batman was born in Begins, we know his character and what he stands for, justice.

Rachel is more than a conventional love interest because of her extended history with Bruce Wayne. I'll be interested to see how they handle his reaction to her speculated death.

But wouldn't the average moviegoer perceive Rachel's death as somewhat cliche, if this is in fact the reason why Harvey wants vengeance? Because the Joker killed his girlfriend (or fiancee, we don't know for sure)?

After reading that interview, I get the impression Dent offs the Joker after a coin toss, dunno why, just a hunch

I don't see how.

The average moviegoer has only seen only so many films, and only so many superhero films. The murder/death of the main love interest is fairly unconventional.

But we don't know the timeframe that passes over the course of TDK.

All the more reason why I think people are jumping to conclusion regarding Dent's fiancee being killed is Rachel.
