A cult of personality is still a cult...

... unless they changed the very course of cinema.

Welles gets up in the morning, he pisses excellence, Nolan can't touch his stuff

FOR “DARK KNIGHT” WILL YOU BE USING ANY OF THE FRAGMENTED STORYTELLING YOU USED ON “MEMENTO”?

No less than in “Batman Begins.” The challenge for us here, and this is something I spoke to David [Goyer] and Jonah [Nolan] a lot about, was more that there were lots of characters and more of an epic scope to this film. The storytelling is very much conventional drama. The challenge was in juggling a fat story.

I'm sensing flashback sequence. What do u think?

Yeah, I think it'll be slight flashbacks ala BB and not the heavily segmented storylines in his other films.

Hollyweird can make things too difficult, I think.

There have been plenty of movies that had scenes that could have be shorter, flashbacked, etc.

Also, it seems as of late, that most movies have scenes that shouldn't be in the movie. Then when said persons watch the deleted scenes, it's "one-liners" or worse, something important.

Just little flashbacks like in BB please ! The Memento structure lost me completely !:o :csad:

Wizard World

Some pretty good quotes there, there's way more opportunity for decent drama with less exposition to get through this time, especially with Dent hopefully

CHRISTOPHER NOLAN: The short answer is “Yes.” The long answer is that “Batman Begins” was an origin story and the important thing was to move the story forward. In this movie, the detective stuff will help move the story along.

Definitely want Bruce to drive the story this time rather than just reacting to events around him

It's time to get off topic: Could someone give me a movie where "the detective stuff" helped move along the story.

I'm at a loss here. I believe Nolan.. but I'm at a loss.

The part's with Leonard's investigation is backwards.

Have Nolan ever done a movie without flashbacks?

No, but Insomnia was a whole lot more linear than any of his other films. Plus the flashbacks were very short and were used just to help visually with Al Pacino's character's background development.

Memento and Following were the most non-linear of any of his films I think.

You know, I've been meaning to ask... does anyone know if that Wizard World press conference is a FULL transcript? Seems like people who were there made it seem like a relatively long affair... while the transcript makes it seem a short Q & A... the footage... and it's over. In and out in twenty minutes.

Sorry ! Not a big fan of this kind of exercise style !:o I prefer more linear stories (I loved Insomnia) with little flash backs ! Even the lighter deconstructive structure of The Prestige confused me (but the revelation and the story was more interesting to me so I hanged on)!

Insomnia was a remake though of a Euro film so I don't know how different Nolan's version is from the original. I still have yet to see the first one.

Here's a couple of other versions anyway, nothing definitive

Do we have a link for this extract ?:cwink: :woot:

I hope its less than Begins, Begins tells how he began, its a backstory mixed with his current life. TDK should, for the most part, be all current, maybe some flashbacks that show important influences but not many. thats what Im hoping for.
