Well from one of the lines Harvey and Bruce meet for the first time and Harvey says something like

"hi bruce rachel has told me all about you"
bruce responds with "I hope not everything"

So chances are they aren't old friends like in some comics. Now as for rivals I think Bruce might get a lil bugged that Harvey is considered the champion and batman is not so there is that subtle emotion, also I think it is more like a friendly rivalry not a dick measuring contest.

Agreed. Also no matter how "over" Bruce appeared to be of Rachel, that is still his childhood friend/ex, seeing Harvey with her has to spark some kind of animosity, if for no other reason, simply because his mission prevents them from being together indefinitely...

Here's my question.

What is the relationship between Bruce and Harvey?

I mean, we've heard rumors that they're sort of friends/rivals (has that been confirmed or not?) but what does that mean? (if true)

From one behind the scenes show for TDK (a black person was the presenter and people say he is obnoxious, if that remind anyone of anything), they're also standing opposite each other (probably in Bruce's party) and he says that "This man is the future of Gotham".

Where did you get those lines from? They weren't on the sides, I though it was just one of those made up fan-written exchanges...

Which man is the future? Harvey?

Okay well, I guess I just don't see it.

I don't see the setup of Harvey getting lots of praise and attention and Bruce being jealous in any way shape or form. Thats not his character. If he wanted to be heaped with praise he wouldn't go out of his way to avoid having people think he was a decent person. He likes being a loner as Batman, and he wants everyone to think he's an idiot and leave him alone as Bruce Wayne.

If they're really going to have the "rivalry" angle between Bruce and Harvey in the film I would be very curious as to how they would explain that.

What are you saying?
I just said that Bruce told people in his party that he considered Harvey as the future of Gotham. And he wasn't being ironic.
Where do you see jealousy?

That was from the wizard screening um a while ago. It is basically what we saw but more scenes. I think it was 5 minutes of footage or something like that

Oh I guess I misstread that. I thought Bruce was at the party and someone else said Harvey was the future and maybe that made Bruce feel there was some sort of rivalry. :whatever:

So it's confirmed that Bruce calls Harvey the future of Gotham then?

BTW I just saw that entire 9 minute rant of Tom Cruise from which your Avi is from. Dude is a complete and utter nut-case. I don't care how much $$$ he has, or how much I dislike Katie, I feel sorry for her being married to that freak. UG.

Here's the vid I was talking about.

2:37-2:44 is the part I was talking about.
(The host was Al Roker).

PS: The exact line is: "This man... is the future".

I can't really tell what he says. Wierd though that Christian is slipping in an out of his accent while talking to Roker. All through BB he did all the interviews in an American accent and made a big deal about it because Batman is an American icon. I hope this doesn't mean he's not trying as hard and going to give us a "mailed in" performance.

I was worried enough that he didn't gain any muscle for TDK. =(

You really look too much into everything, don't you?
Anyway, listen to it again, that's what he says (I thought it was crystal clear, myself).

I'll just take your word on it. I'm sure you're trustworthy ;)

Well I can't help it... I mean I'm a huge Batman fan and a huge CB fan, and going off all his work in film, BB wasn't in the top 5 performances of his. Now he's neither working out or keeping the accent up... it's really odd. So I don't want to see another bland Bruce. Batman needs a lot of passion and drive. Usually CB is so obsessive that he'd be perfect. I guess it's hard to keep that up when you're filming for 10 months or whatever it is.

Who said he's not working out? The guy just didn't get as big for TDK as he was in BB (because of the suit, because he didn't need to , for whatever reason).

Aa for the accent, perhaps in BB he needed to persuade people, to get them to trust him. The new franchise is now here to stay, so perhaps he doesn't need to prove skeptics anything. Those who like him like him, and those who don't don't.

If we're reaching the point where we judge actors by any standards other than their acting, then I'm really really worried.

I guess those are possibilities.

Hey, I'd love to judge on the acting alone, send me a copy of the film will you? :yay:

I could also hear it very clear....as the rest of the forum.

That's cool - I'm not saying he didn't say it, I just couldn't hear that over Roker or whatever other background noise there was. Hmm. Or maybe it's my speakers. I donno. I trust you guys.

Well, how long a shoot is doesn't necessarily lead to a lesser performance - ask Jack Nicholson of his work on the set of the Shining :cwink:

Cute.
I don't know if his acting will be good in TDK, I'm just not worried by criteria such as his accent in interviews. That's my point.

Only brought it up because CB himself made a big deal out of it with BB. He stayed "in-accent" for over a year, even in private, because he didn't want journalists to be freaked out that "Batman-guy" was talking like brit.

Now if he just decided, "Hey, I've earned respect, I'll talk how I want now" that would be cool with me too. What was weird is he was actually talking with an American accent but occasionally loosing it. Now... If you've been talking in an American accent for months and months straight, as he did in BB and as he surely had to do for TKD, you don't just suddenly loose it for certain words or whatever in an interview. It seems very odd. I mean, it's practically muscle memory at that point.

So thats why I wonder about the level of concentration and/or commitment this time around. He doesn't seem as OCD... not that an actor has to be as OCD as CB in order to be good, but if thats his TYPICAL style, I don't expect less than that. If that makes sense.

It doesn't seem like his typical style, no. He just did it for BB.

You mean with the accent? Yah staying in the American accent was just BB but he was always obsessive with every role - as far as getting physically prepared, staying in character even when he's not on set, etc.

He said himself in his latest interview (check the respective thread, the australian interview) that the succession of physically demanding roles is something he wasn't exactly happy with in the long run, since from one point on it would seem like a gimmick. It was a coincidence that some roles in a row were demanding.

Oh I know that, but I'm not just talking about body building and weight loss. The physical stuff you do for a role includes how you walk, how you style your hair, how close you stand next to people, what muscles you are using in your face...etc. He looks different in all his roles, even if he's the same weight in some of them.

And I know he doesn't want the weight thing to become a gimmick, but that's hardly a reason to NOT bulk up to play a superhero. Fans everywhere are counting on him to be the biggest bad-@$$ of the summer blockbuster season!
