Can I just say how much I've missed this game? Mantis posts, unlike any other character I've ever played, have a habit of becoming much longer than I planned or realized. (In a good way.)

Have had some pretty major health reasons keeping me off this RPG (and the boards in general, and the computer... and pretty much everything lately).

Expect a few on here pretty soon though, gotta play some catch up...

Did Australia try to f**king kill you? Glad you're okay though Houndito.

Create a Hero RPG SEASON III Application

Character you have created: The Citizen
Alias: David McDonald

Speech Color: Red Trebuchet MS for David /Bold Navy Trebuchet for The Citizen

Character Alignment: Hero

Identity: Secret

Character Personality: David McDonald is a real man's man - the All-American guy that every dude wants to hang out with. In college, he was a loyal wingman - when he wasn't taking charge, that is. David grew up in a modest background, and he remains humble to this day. He has a strong Christian belief system, but he's very open-minded and progressive. As a former football captain, David knows how to inspire and lead people. As a former soldier, David knows how to take orders and work in a team. As a politician, he knows how to be diplomatic and fair to all sides of an argument. He's Lost Haven's poster boy, and the general public generally loves him.

Origin Info/Details: One night, at a Lost Haven museum, there was a break-in. David McDonald and his wife, Katherine, were in the museum at the time. Acting completely on instinct, David tackled the robber and wrestled away the stolen goods. The robber escaped into the night, but David had saved the artifacts. One of these artifacts was a mystical amulet that dated back to the Jamestown colony. The museum curator explained that the amulet was said to give magical powers to its wearer. David wasn't one for superstition, so he ignored the story. The next morning, David realized that he had accidentally put the amulet in his jacket pocket. The museum wasn't open yet in the morning, so David had to wait to return it. In the meantime, he decided to test out the myth. Needless to say, he was caught quite off-guard by the results.

Hero Type: Brick/Muscle

Power Level: 3. World Level

Powers: Superstrength; Flight; Enhanced Healing; Mystical Aura - Light Manipulation, Empathy, Precognition.

Attributes
Strength Level:
70 tons.

Speed/Reaction Timing Level: 40 MPH.

Endurance at MAXIMUM Effort: 4 hours.

Agility: 10X Human level.

Intelligence: Average.

Fighting Skill: Trained.

Resources: Large.

Weaknesses: David is constantly in the public eye as a result of his profession, so it is very hard to lead a double life. His loyalty to the innocent can easily be manipulated against him, as he will not settle for unnecessary collateral damage. If, by some chance, he is separated from the amulet, he loses his powers.

Supporting Characters: David married his high school sweetheart, Katherine, and the two have been happily married for some years. David keeps in close contact with his family - especially his young brother, Alan, and his even younger sister, Hailey. David has a very personable secretary named Martha, and a constantly nervous PR consultant named Tom.

List a few reasons why you've created that character: I still stand by my belief that this RPG needs a patriotic hero. With some IC time passing, I can treat the Citizen as an established hero of Lost Haven - something I didn't have the luxury of doing before.

What can you bring to the RPG?: Fresh ideas and the commitment to follow through with them. I will try to bring the same writing quality to The Citizen that I brought to Mantis throughout last Season.

Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards?:

Sample Post:

I take a deep breath. "This is crazy," I tell myself. So was jumping off a roof. So was picking a fight with three superpowered beings. You've known where this was leading from the very start. There's no time like the present. I close my eyes. It's true. If there was ever a time to step up, it's now. I believe in fate and reason, and I believe that I didn't get this Amulet for nothing.

I check Mr. Cobb once more. He's still out cold. This is one thing I don't want him putting into the interview. Sighing determinedly, I push open the jet's door. The sudden rush of air nearly sucks me out. I brace myself against the door's frame. I'm looking down at the water. There's no more time for thinking. I have to do this now or never.

I leap out of the plane. Remembering the night on the roof, I will myself into flying. It's getting easier to do every time. I drift underneath the plummeting plane. It's an imposing sight, to say the least. I think I'm strong, but I don't know if I'm this strong. However, I can't just give up without trying.

"Nice and easy," I instruct myself. "Just guide the plane. That's all."

Heh. That's all. Like it's so easy.

I fly up under the plane and place my palms on the underside. The metal is cold. I breathe deeply once more, and I try to push upwards. Nothing seems to happen. I feel myself losing hope. No. Not yet. I try again with more confidence. The plane begins to shift.

"Jesus Christ..."

I strain as hard as my body will allow. The harder I push, the brighter the Amulet glows. Slowly but surely, I begin to right the plane. The ground is approaching quickly, though. Pieces of rock - meteors? - race by on their way to the ground. If I didn't have to save this plane, I'd do something to stop them. One thing at a time, Dave.

"Come on, you son of a..."

I strain so hard that I think my blood vessels are going to pop. Above me, the plane is flying straight - albeit still falling to the ground. Still need to work on that part. I pick out a clear patch of land to guide the plane towards. My arms begin to tremble under the immense weight. I can't afford to do this much longer. My feet skip over the tops of trees as the ground comes up in a hurry.

With one last concentrated burst, I lift the nose of the plane to keep it from driving into the ground. My work done, I quickly duck out from underneath the plane - narrowly avoiding being squashed. The plane kicks up a lot of dirt - and creates a sizable crater in the ground - but it's in one piece. That much, I can take credit for.

And, well, it felt good.

It felt really good.
