The Curious Case of Spider-Man & Hulk Rights (Or Keep Hope Alive That the Rights Will Revert)

I don't see a Hydra origin as a problem. For me it streamlines the issue of her origin and how she acquired similar powers to spider-man. She shouldn't be a clone in the sense her character shouldn't be similar (newspaper dayjob instead of superspy), but you can't get around her having similar powers and I think it makes more sense than having an entirely seperate origin for a spider themed powerset.

As far as Hydra replicating Spider-man's powers, I don't see the issue. I'm sure they'd like to make their own versions of other heroes too, why should Spider-man be conveniently left out? They could even make the villain Super Adaptoid to tie it all together.

I would rather not have Super Adaptoid of all people as the villain when Spider-Woman had a decent rogues gallery of her own: Morgan Le Fay, Gypsy Moth, Nekra, Brothers Grimm, Hangman, Viper and Silver Samurai to name but a few. They should keep her villains within the supernatural realm as in the comics, instead of giving her essentially a robot to fight.

Also, she doesn't really have powers similar to Spider-Man other than being able to stick to walls and super agility. She shoots venom blasts, releases pheremones and other toxins. She doesn't spin webs or swing from them, nor does she have spider senses.

Fair enough. I wouldn't say no to Silver Samurai done right. I'd still be ok with Adaptoid though if they went that route.

I think it's fair to say she has similar powers including wallcrawling, strength and agility. Peter's web-swinging doesn't count in the sense that's a gadget he created to compliment his spider powers.

Super Adaptoid is much better as a villain (not main villain) to fight the Avengers or Fantastic Four. It's cool when you see him take on all their powers one by one and start looking like bits of each of them. He's wasted fighting just a solo hero.

That's true to an extent. I always picture Super Adaptoid as the funky mish-mash of Avengers from that 60's cartoon.

Though I wouldn't be against them changing it so he isn't simply reflecting the Avengers powers back at them, but instead has a range of them at hand at any time. Given how both Cap and Iron-man are gone at this point it may be better that way unless you just want to see him reflecting the powers of whoever is available.

Might Sony not want to use Adaptoid after the Black Widow film comes out?

I mean... Black Widow vs the villain that "copies" movements.

Spider-Woman vs the android that copies powers.

Seems the latter would easily be seen as a ripoff of the former to many, no?

If he doesn't fight the Avengers, he could always fight the X-Men. That pointy bit of his mask could be Wolverine's instead of Hawkeye's. I've said elsewhere that the X-Men need to fight other villains than just other mutants while in the MCU, otherwise they're just like still being in the FoxVerse.

I like how Super Adaptoid looked in Marvel Two in One #75 where his head looked like a cross between Iron Man and Vision:

And then he started looking like the Thing:

That's a good point. Not to mention the question of whether Sony would be allowed to use him.

Yeah. I'd like to see the X-men take on other villains outside of mutants as well. Funnily enough whilst looking for Super Adaptoid pics I found out he had a cameo in the X-men cartoon through a Cyclops flashback. Not a fan of the Thing-esque look.

Seems that, according to Mark Ruffalo in a recent interview yesterday at Chicago’s C2E2 convention, Universal still own the rights to a solo Hulk film.

Interview starts around the 8.50 mark

We don't need a Hulk solo movie. We need......DEFENDERS. That and no Prof Hulk.

I am so down for a Defenders movie. The timing couldn’t be better.

the consensus (from what I’ve seen) is that we need regular Hulk again. They need to separate Bruce and Hulk somehow. I wasn’t a fan of Prof Hulk at all.
There are so many variations of the character. Maybe we could get Gray Hulk or Savage Hulk?

Ruffalo doesn't seem quite with it. He seems to think people want more professor Hulk and asks fans to tweet Feige to lend their support to this. But how many people really do want professor Hulk? He's the weakest and least effective version.

I prefer a Hulk more similar to Ragnarok, but with a look more similar to the Avengers. That would be the version that would suit Defenders the best, not Professor Hulk.

Professor Hulk was one of my least favorite aspects of Endgame for sure. Definitely don't need to see any more of that.

Is he out of touch, or are you guys?

I liked Professor Hulk just fine (way better than Ragnarok Hulk). I didn't think the story arc was set up properly with the big reconciliation being entirely off screen, but the result was plenty of fun.

If the question is whose opinion aligns with the majority view (especially of the general audience since hyperfans aren't that relevant to which way the movies should go), I really have no idea.

From what I’ve seen (a small sample size), people prefer a more traditional Hulk. It was a nice change of pace but I want classic Hulk back.

It would have been nice to the a Hulk/Thanos rematch in Endgame

Who knows? I'm generally out of touch so there's that. LOL. I just think Ragnarok and Avengers Hulk is more interesting. I'm quite sure if they offered Ruffalo another ensemble movie (or 3), he'd jump at the chance and wouldn't say no because he wants to play Prof Hulk. As an actor (and a damn good one at that), I can totally understand why he prefers Prof Hulk, but as a fan, I just think vintage Hulk is way more fun.

I frankly think they did a disservice to Hulk in both IW and EG.
EDIT: Maybe it's time for a Prof Hulk or Traditional Hulk poll? :D

At this point I don't really care what incarnation, I'm just jonesing for some MCU goodness, its been too long of a lay off without a new Marvel something coming out. Especially since we've been getting told this project and that are coming for a long time, but we've had nothing to feast our eyeballs on since Far From Home.

You have a classic case of SuperHero fatigue. We all knew it would happen some day. :cwink:

Isn't Professor Hulk just Mark Ruffalo?

Is anyone really clamoring for more Mark Ruffalo?
