Verisimilitude can be a very wonderful thing, you see
And just because.
Luke Skywalker playing The Joker and Mr. Krabs playing Lex Luthor. It certainly was a different time. The DCAU was an amazing entry point into the world of comic book stuff, wouldn’t change it for anything
One of the few things I feel like I was born at exactly the right time for
Welcome back!Hey everyone!
It's been forever since I last posted here, but I just had to come back for this, I'm beyond excited for the movie! I can’t stop laughing looking at my old avatar it's been years since I last posted here. I loved Man of Steel, but now I’m super excited for David!
I'm catching it Thursday afternoon (yep, sneaking out of work ) and honestly, I couldn't be more hyped.
Feels great to be back![]()
No midnight EST is in about 8.5 hours from now.Is the Social media embargo lifting at midnight EST so 2 hours from this post?
Welcome back! Glad you could join the party!Hey everyone!

We Shall Soon See.No there not. If it’s good they will give it its due .
Great point about Batman! My partner is like that. With her hair tied back and a pair of glasses, she's like a different person.
It has happened several times to run into some of her colleagues outside of work, when in a more relaxed look, and having them not recognize her right away.
I've always told her she makes the Superman shtick believable.![]()
Personally, I've actually never had any problems with Clark's disguise.
It's a deal I make with the writers, just as I never worry about Gothamites failing to make the connection between Batman, the eternal vigilante with all his gadgets and vehicles, and the city's only billionaire whose entire family met a tragic fate because of crime.
But still, If I had to choose an explanation, I really like the idea that no one manages to unmask Superman simply because no one thinks he's hiding within the general population. I mean, if you had a being who showed up flying at every disaster to save the day, you'd think he lived somewhere in the sky, keeping a watchful eye over the city... not riding his bike to work.
David has both the look and that Superman vibe.David’s casting is gonna go down as one of the best decisions they ever made.
Superman personified
Well it seems international media types like it so far![]()
Not for the first viewing! Gonna see if it’ll freak out my oldest first before committing to taking her. Plus I need an excuse for a kid free night lol.Kids going with you to see, Superman?
While I don’t expect this film to suddenly turn the world around and make everyone start holding hands and going kumbaya, I would hope that, with the kind of power that this character has in the public and cultural consciousness, that a good portion of people that see this film at least have their hearts and minds slightly touched, opened to and softened to the idea of goodness and kindness being a strength to be praised instead of a weakness to be mocked and start to come back and begin making the change in their lives to be better people. To use a medical analogy, maybe not an immediate full-on medical cure or corrective surgery that completely fixes, solves and gets rid of the issue, but at least a bit of medicine, attention and physical therapy so that things can start to heal a bit, not hurt as much and become more manageable, and then go from there. That alone definitely makes me root for this film. My personal investment is pretty low. I'm not personally that excited about another DCU. I'm really not sure James Gunn's sensibility is going to be my cup of tea or not, to be totally honest. But it would be cool to see a bright and colorful Superman film succeed in 2025. We can't expect this movie to single-handedly cure cancer and repair our broken culture, but hopefully we can walk out feeling like it meant something and it wasn't just another superhero movie. Even if as adults we're too cynical at this point, if it can instill some hope and belief in kindness in kids, that's something at least.
Reminds me of this:While I don’t expect this film to suddenly turn the world around and make everyone start holding hands and going kumbaya, I would hope that, with the kind of power that this character has in the public and cultural consciousness, that a good portion of people that see this film at least have their hearts and minds slightly touched, opened to and softened to the idea of goodness and kindness being a strength to be praised instead of a weakness to be mocked and start to come back and begin making the change in their lives to be better people. And, after seeing some of the stuff today posted online by some pretty big news political personalities, lord knows we need it now more than ever. This film could not have come out at a better time.
Same. Talk of Justice League and another Superman/Batman crossover are right up there with Math homework in terms of creating excitement for me. But Superman, that'll always feel like its own particular flavor.I could honestly give a crap if a new DCU happens (happy if it does mind you) my only thing is I want to love this film. that is it. If I do then whatever comes next comes next. I am not here for the universe I am here for Superman.
