The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

Looks like the people responsible for his death are going away for a long time.
I really hope so. I've only watched one documentary about him, focusing about those special circumstances around his passing. I'm way too old to not have a sceptical mind regarding documentaries about famous actors, but I also don't have all the facts. But IICC it all felt pretty fishy with all the people around him. Anyhows, a pure waste.

The whole “Superman yells at Lois” thing is so hilariously pathetic. What a bunch of nonsense. God forbid this movie has some emotion.

I legitimately struggle to understand how some of these sites continue to exist.

I often wonder if the people making these silly criticisms have ever been in a romantic relationship beyond the one they have with their own hand.

Routh was a deadbeat Dad, Cavill was perpetually upset, and now David is red flag abuser.
Can someone explain to me how Lois knew that was Superman’s son. Their one night together was forgotten after Clark drugged Lois.

Is there actually a new clip out, or is it the same 'yelling' clip from the previous trailer?

The funny thing about Superman Returns is how much it chases the Donner film, but does not nail one single aspect of the Donner film.

"Vague sequel", remember. Some stuff happened, some didn't. What exactly that all entails is nebulous, so I'm just gonna go with they slept together, but no amnesia kiss. Instead he just straight up ghosted her, apparently... But still better than amnesia.

There's no such thing as a vague sequel. If Superman Returns wants to use the Reeve films (I and II) as background information, it's got to take all of it.

That's not at all what I mean. I'm not talking about any inconsistencies or stuff like that.

I'm speaking about how it does not AT ALL catch any part of the spirit that made the Donner film so great.

Finding someone who looked like and could somewhat ape Christopher Reeve (but without any personality given by the script) was about it.

And I don't even dislike the movie. Lol

SR had potential. It had some really good scenes, the plane and yacht saves were great, as was the Lois and superman flying scene.
Unfortunately singer that it was cool for superman to have a son, a son he didn't know he had.
And he portrayed superman as a stalking peeping Tom, whether intentional or not that's the way it came off.

Also using a sinister, but goofy, lex again was a miss.
Throw in no supervillain for superman to fight, and it was doomed.

I still believe Routh as superman with a different director would have gotten a sequel(s)

But that's something we can never know for sure on.

Yeah I didn't quote them but I wasn't addressing you, just the posts above asking what specifically happened in that instance.

I agree that for a movie that was called "a love letter to Donner Superman" they in no way captured its spirit.

I won't be sugarcoating this Superman film. It will either be a hit or miss.
Everything points to a hit, but BvS looked great in the trailers also.

Aside from Ben Affleck looking like a good Batman, I can't say that I was particularly hyped by the BVS trailers.

I didn't love MOS, but quite liked it, and BVS trailers looked like they were doubling down on the Zack Snyder-y style of it all , which I don't exactly love (as opposed to MOS, where I feel like it's a bit more "Nolan-reigned in" - except for the disaster / action porn in act three and other stuff).

I have a complicated, but non dramatic, relationship to the DCEU (there's good stuff in there), but it's not my favorite era of DC.

At the same time the New 52 was launching in comics which, too, despite the good stuff, wasn't my fav era.

All in all, I'm thankful that DC moved on both in comics and movies. I'm happy and excited again on both fronts.

My approach too. Zod might not have even happened, it's irrelevant. All that matters is Superman was there, then he was gone, and Lex really cares about real estate.

Same. I liked, but didn't love MoS.
I think a new director should have ran with the sequel. The editing was quite jarring.
From baby kals ship coming in to crash in SV, to a instantly grown Clark on a fishing trawler.
I remember thinking, did I miss something.
