The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

Unfortunately, I was never able to get that feeling from Cavill, especially after hearing about some of his supposed behavior on the Witcher set as well MOS.
Unfortunately, being a problematic individual seems to be a trend with most of Zack Snyder’s Justice League cast.

Exactly. It's the reason I was so able to buy into Routh as Superman and now Corenswet.

Just throwing it out there: Henry dated Gina Carano, a model who did blackface, and was engaged to an equestrian accused of animal abuse. He also sided with Beau DeMayo during The Witcher drama.

Him whining about how #MeToo made it harder for him to date was also an early red flag.

Looks like I'll finally get my chance to make @flickchick85 watch the DCEU Superman movies after all.

Forgot about that.

Who would’ve thought that Jason Momoa, patron saint of dudebros himself, of all people would’ve ended up being the least controversial person in that cast? :hehe:

Makes me wish the cape was a foot shorter. The Super-silhouette looks so much cooler when you also see the feet/boots under the rim.

One HUNDRED percent. It's the only thing that still sticks out to me about the suit (maybe strap thing on the back of the collar). I've said it before, but the ideal length no one would have an issue with is mid-calf... MY ideal length is right behind the knee... and the let's ****ing go for it length it mid-thigh. I've noticed in certain shots and promo shots too that kind of cheat the length to make it shorter and get that silhouette going as well.

But, this is the world's smallest non-issue.

That reminds me J.J. Jameson's conspiracies theories about Spider-Man. Saving people from fires he probably caused and all of that.

But back to Superman, the new S.H. Figuarts figure was teased today.

That Superman is a definite buy!

I had the McFarlane figure pre-ordered at first, but I figured eventually we'd get some more premium figures. Or I at least hoped for either MAFEX or S.H. Figuarts to announce a DCU Superman figure.

So essentially the test screenings did exactly what they were supposed to do. Help the filmmakers decide what worked and what didn't work to create a film that was a lot more palatable to the audience.

John Campea and RMB discussed yesterday that they heard glowing reactions from the screening.b Even the controversial Grace Randolph, who had been a big critic of the film, is hinting she enjoyed the movie.

This film is gonna be huge. I've been trying to keep expectations in check, but as someone who feels like this genre is in thin ice, I've had a gut feeling this movie could end up being one of the best CBMs in a long time.

I was never as big fan of the guardians films as other people were, though I really liked them. I loved The Suicide Squad though. I think Gunn is a very good filmmaker, and I've thought since he was announced for this film that it would probably take him out of his comfort zone and do something a little different but so sincere and earnest. That seems to be what's happening here. I am so excited for this, honestly. Much more than I am even fantastic four.

I want these movies to make me feel something again. Robert Meyer has heard from someone who saw a screening that the movie makes you feel like a kid again and it brings out that kid like wonder, in a fairy tale sense. I think that's what I'm chasing here, so I was pleased to hear that.

I mean if Gunn can make Starro work in a big budget film...that tells me something. (even if I am not a huge fan of his other stuff)
He's a very competent filmmaker. When it comes to Superman, I think embracing even the silliest aspects is crucial. The outfit looks amazing, Krypto looks awesome, I love the The modern/retro feel, and the cast is fantastic. Nothing about this film has given me pause.

I mean, when's the last time we had a comic book movie be taken seriously while also having elements of comic book camp? Raimis iconic first Spider-Man film had green goblin shouting "we'll meet again, Spider-Man!". I feel like the approach here is somewhat similar and I just have missed that so much.

Gunn had to use Ayer’s blue print for his Suicide Squad movie and the movie was still entertaining. He is being nice about the past DC regime but I bet he has some choice thoughts concerning the Finale Boss (Dewayne Johnson ) and the suits that ran DC during Flash movie and Black Adam time period.
