The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

Finally watched this on vod.

I really liked it.

A few roll your eyes type moments here and there, but liked the rest. The chemistry between Supes and Lois is wonderful. My og casting pairings! Knew they’d be great together. Hell, I didn’t expect myself to be somewhat emotional in certain scenes. I like how sincere this Superman is. Man, I want more Lois and Clark moments in the next one. A few minor nitpicks, but the score was simply there for me, mostly eh. Lex wasn’t a standout, but certainly the best on film Lex for me by far.

8/10

Watched the film on VOD, thought it was just ok and kind of bizarre. Loved Lois and the Justice Gang but wasn't crazy about Superman or Clark, not sure why he was yelling his dialogue so much, think some quieter moments would have been good. The harem stuff and Clark getting annoyed with social media comments was dumb, I thought. One thing I can say is it made very excited for Supergirl, I think that has the potential to really do something different.

I think that’s what the moment between Los & Clark in the apartment while the battle with the interdimensional imp raged outside was about, an attempt to slow down.

I thought there was supposed to be deleted scenes with the digital release, surprised they haven't been released or talked about yet.

I just went on youtube to look up any recent videos about Superman and its all just negative negative negative. I'm starting to just get fed up with it at this point. I know it's just the Snyderbros etc, but it's still draining to no longer be able to easily find anything positive or just evenly and fairly critical on this film. I just want to sit down to some with my lunch and watch some good Superman content talked about. I've been dealing with it fine the last 2 years but I can't pretend it's not getting to me anymore. I've seen this movie get hated on in comments for videos that don't even have anything to do with superman or superheros. Why can't they just let it go?

To play devil's advocate, it was exactly the same with the previous iteration, except now the shoe is on the other foot.

The vast majority are channels fishing for views/likes/clicks on their posts/videos, most of which don't believe nor care about what they're saying, it's simply just to try & antagonise a fanbase. There are Youtube channels that are intentionally designed to take antagonistic stances regarding their views on things particularly with fanbases that are typically easy to rile up ie Star Wars, DC/Marvel/Comic book fans, sports etc.

Fortunately there are features on Youtube (as well as social media), to never have such channels/accounts suggested to you again if you're constantly seeing them show up with cretinous videos/posts.

Is there any word on a release date on digital in countries outside of the US? I was planning on picking it up on Friday on Amazon Prime making it only my 2nd ever digital film, but still says it's only available for pre-order.

Any chance you could use a VPN or something? Just lie and say you live somewhere in the United States?

Superman’s “being human” speech keeps popping up on my Instagram feed this week and it’s just so great. That easily has to be in the top 5 Superman moments in any movie ever, right up there with “Who’s Got You?” in Superman ‘78. Just so much emotion and sincerity.
What I love so much is that he even pleads with Lex of all people to be a better person. That’s Superman. And that’s what some of these fake fans who think portraying a great Superman is about how many burpees you can do will never understand.

Oh and by the way, I’m pretty sure David could kick your ass doing burpees too lol.

From what I've read, admittedly though a Google search that led me to some random thread on Reddit, using a VPN doesn't work.

Glad you liked it BN. The only highly disappointing aspect of the entire film and creative decisions was the lack of Daily Planet Lois and Clark. I really yearned and thought we would get much more than what we got, but I understand Gunn wanted to fundamentally focus on their relationship first and foremost. Now that they are obviously in love with each other, we can get more Daily Planet banter.

RIP to the great Terence Stamp. Obviously he is the iconic Zod, one of the greatest cinematic villains of all time. But he also played so many other amazing characters, from Bernadette Bassenger in Priscilla to Wilson in The Limey to Chancellor Valorum in Star Wars to Mankar Cameron in The Elder Scrolls. Amazing career and I love that he never shied away from genre stuff.
