The Dark Knight THE DARK KNIGHT crowd reports!

In Mississauga, ON, got to the IMAX at 10:40 and got second row (!) because people were saving seats like crazy, maybe it was karma for me saving spots in line on Tuesday.

Regardless, still enjoyed, the movie flew by in the second viewing. Also, somebody had a seizure in the scene where Rachel/Bruce kiss (I remember missing most of that scene when everyone looked over at the guy), no idea how it was resolved. Then in Gordon's final speech the chick next to me got up to use the phone, what a... blah. If that was my first viewing, woulda been insanely distracted, I'm not doing the midnight screening again. The movie was still delightful though haha. OTHERWISE, good crowd, but my friend was exhausted which took away a bit, everyone applauded at the end and for the memorials in the credits.

I think I need another couple days off, was gonna go at lunch tomorrow but... maybe wait til Monday.

Great crowd reaction. Applause and cheers at the appropriate spots.

There weren't many seats left. And they had to screenings going on at the same time so I don't how full that one was. BUT it was a little wierd seeing so many emos and gothic kids there.

I would also like to add I started the slow chap during the credits!

My theater was packed....I live in South Florida, USA.

The crowd gasped during the bank scene when the Joker's goons kept killing each other.......

The crowd gasped at Joker's magic trick.

The crowd cheered when Batman flipped over the semi-truck

The crowd cheered/applauded at the end of the movie.

Hands Down The Greatist Movie Ever!!! It Was So Surreal Finnaly Seeing It! It Was Just Amazing! Nolan. Is. God!:grin::applaud:applaud::brucebat::brucebat:

The whole theater was filled up an hour early! I was lucky enough to get a seat. I think there were 8 auditoriums and every one of them was sold out. Unbelievable.

Fantastic movie, Heath Ledger was the man, Eckhart was surprsingly really really good, I was skeptical coming in of him. Only two complaints were Batman's voice, but it's understandable, he has to disguise it, and Maggie Gyllenhaal. I really didn't like her that much in this movie, she had her moments, but most of the time it seemed like she was forcing everything. Everyone else was amazing, especially Gary Oldman. So many good scenes.

Everyone loved Joker in my theater, obviously. I'd be more surprised to see someone not like Joker.

Funny story too...

When Rachel and Bruce are talking at the party on his balcony, someone in the audience yelled out "She's so ugly!" Everyone started laughing, myself included, because (let's be honest) Maggie wasn't looking so good.

And plus, her acting was very stale (other than her death scene). I know everyone hated Katie Holmes, but I would have liked her to have been a part of this film rather than Maggie.

I won't talk about the movie in this thread, but here's my theatre story

Tons of people lined outside the theatre. A couple hundred I guess. I got in the wrong line and didn't realize it until we were let, so once I got to my theatre I had crappy 3rd row seats. Still great though. There were 2 guys dressed as Joker too, it was pretty funny.

OMFg This idiot told me 'If I had pills I would throw them at you"

I told him "If I had a Chesseburger Id throw it at you" Cause he as fat.

Then he told me "Go to Home Depot"

I as like "Dude go home. Your Jokes suck and you shoudnt be here you should be at Mcdonalds because you have nothing to do with your pathectic life."

He stayed quiet. I owned

As for the crowd. They loved it. When Heath name came after the credits everyone cheered.

Huge applause mixed with gasps at the magic trick

and MASSIVE applause when Gordon comes back

All showings sold out here in tulsa, ok including all weekend for the imax. Theater was mostly quiet due to a warning from the manager before the movie started but the crowd went wild for the magic trick. As others have said the crowd gasped when they seen Gordon alive again and lots of people clapping at the end. One of the best films i have ever seen.

btw this is my first post,

sold out countless shows in the same theater!
massive applause! 3 jokers, 1 batman, 1 harvey two face, in costumes!

I was amazed at the showing at our theater. It's not the biggest town, but I arrived at 10:45 and there were two huge lines. There were at least 10-15 people dressed up, which I never expected. The strangest part is most of the people who dressed up were chicks. There was a group dressed at riddler, two-face, and catwoman, and the guy in the front was in full bat garb.

After the movie a lot of these comments sounded like they were read directly from this board ("that was the greatest thing ever")

Also, the guy next to me looked like he was having an orgasm during the Watchmen trailer. He was curling up in his seat and flailing his legs...it was somewhat disturbing.

we were in a theater that seated 600 peeps (NO BS!)

the line was LITERALLY over 200 ft long by like 10. It was a BLAST!

Where was the memorial for Heath Ledger, and was it at the beginning or the end? Also, what did it say?

During the scene where Harvey gets in the swat car and throws Rachel his coin the movie just stopped and all the lights turned on. It was weird, it came back on a minute later but everyone was PISSED!

It was funny. :woot:

i booked my tickets today and i expect huge crowds.... im so excited and i just cant hide it...

our movie had some technical dificulties as well. it caused quite the ruckus.

in fact i was asked to leave the premises. prepare for a rant and a story of one of the best nights of my life o my brothers and sisters....its long but its worth it.

let me go back a second here. first the lights did not go all the way down until half hour fourty five minutes into the show. i figured someone would fix it eventually and they did...eventually. i would have gotten up if i didnt think it would more disruptive than waiting it out. secondly about an hour into the film it seemed as if the air shut off. i had already stripped to my t shirt but everyone around me was complaining so it wasnt just my makeup making me sweat.

and last but not least, just as the movie ended, right after "the dark knight" appeared on the screen the music cut, the film stopped, and the lights came up!!! :cmad:. no "directed by" to cheer to, no dedicated to heath ledger to clap to, nothing. a screen with a soda and popcorn advertising gift cards.

i run out the exit in the back and knock on the projection room door. no one in there or they are not answering. i immediately got on my phone and called the front desk (i know the number by heart because i go there almost every week and i see all my movies there. have for years. yorktown AMC. never again. oh btw here's the number 1 630 495 0012. give 'em a jingle)

i say " i am in theatre 8 and the movie just stopped. if you do not play the credits you might have a problem. i want a manager in here now." very calm but obviously angry and upset. they hung up. i sit back down, the theatre is emptying out and i see a few employees enter the room. one of my friends is already down there complaining to the manager. the manager misunderstands and seems to think the sound went off but the credits played. i am hot now.

i have been denied my five minutes of music and calm to absord the shock to my system that is the dark knight. and im wearing the face of a dead man whose name i have been waiting to see on screen for months. then the credits start to play, sans music and a few minutes in, over the background image of soda and popcorn, with the light still on and i realize this is not going to end well.

i interrupt. " the credits did not play. the movie just stopped. the lights came on. not to mention the air went off and the lights took an hour to go down. what kind of place are you running? i brought twenty people with me tonight. do you have any idea how much this meant to some of us? to all of us? " as i motion to everyone still left in the theatre "my son?" and then i gesture to my face "to me? clearly some of us care alot and you ruined it"

yah i know nothing could really ruin it but....

there is now a crowd of employees gathered around and some kid laughs and says " obviously". this is the last straw. "its not funny son" i say looking right through him. the manager says she understands but she is treating me and everyone else like some problem that needs to be fixed as quickly as possible. no sincerity. barely an apology. my sister is in tears. she says "if we just step outside i can take care of you." clearly she means to handle this quietly among us few complianers . not gonna happen. no way can i let this stand.

so i turn to the theatre and at the top of my lungs to the thirty or forty left " c'mon everyone! we are all getting passes for this mess!" and when i turn back to the manager she says something that tells me i should not have said that. i finish to her " or you might as well call the police because i want to file a complaint. this is highway robbery!" well i think all they heard was " police" because all the hourly employees start flipping out. "dont threaten her" "dont say that sir" "dont blah blah blah... the manager starts to walk out and i follow, along with my friends, a ways back to not "scare anyone", all the way out to the lobby.

there are folks waiting for the 3:10 show so they all start cheering for me and flipping out, but i think they can tell im pissed. somebody screams out "why so serious!' and i start laughing. then i start sauntering and bouncing in my step. i can tell the situation has been elevated now. the manager goes behind the desk and into the back, out of sight. is she calling the fuzz? i think. its a full moon and i think maybe i should just leave. then i realize getting arrested in full makeup would be the ultimate topper to all this. but i also realize i would be able to talk my way out of this if i have to. and after all i havent really done anything.

so she comes out with a stack of passes. what appears to be the general manager steps up and stands next to her. "whats going on?" he says. she hands me my pass and says: "i would like for you to leave now sir". i say "just a minute". the GM says again "what happened?" and i explain my case. she says " he threatened me" and i say " thats simply not true" and she repeats" please leave now." and i say finally " my pleasure. i will never be back," and i leave.

i spent the next few minutes greeting the crowds as they leave, chain smoking, and looking for the cops to roll by. me and my crew replay the events of the last twenty minutes and laugh about how i basically lost my mind inside. we decide even though that sucked nothing could really ruin the movie, which we all agree, was basically the best thing ever made by the hand of man.

i came home and called the theatre back and talked to someone on the phone. she was my hero. she told me the film snapped and o told her i knew why. i also told her " my friend" was the one who was asled to leave but i was also deeply upset and asked for the GM's name and then asked if she knew who was the manager was who overreacted and kicked out my costumed buddy. she sold her out fast!!! maybe she is not a fan. joker would be proud. i thanked her and told her that i have seen half a dozen or more movies there in as many weeks and i will never be back. i told her i knew they were double dipping on prints and that she should tell her GM that i will be contacting the necessary parties.

then me and my son burned our passes in the bathtub reciting a new mantra "its not about free passes, its about sending a message." i put him to bed and apologized for losing my cool. he says" if you werent dressed like that they would not have felt threatened. but i know you overreacted a little. its ok. " i kiss his head goodnight and start typing.

a perfectly memorable night and i hope somewhere heath is shaking his head going

"what a nut."

post script: i am calling warner brothers, AMC yorktown and AMC corporate, as well as the better business bereau, and a few assorted friends in the local press. i am going to go straight to the top of the food chain and plan on getting a satisfactory result. maybe a lifetime pass i can burn?
