The Dark Knight Rises TDKR Crowd Reports & Theater Reactions

I dont get the reports of people crying? During what scenes?

There were 5 rooms at my local theatre for TDKR, all were sold out. I was in the fifth theatre and they let us in 2 hrs early. About 11 o'clock I went to get something to drink and there were lines out the building and the lobby was packed, so I'm glad they sat ours early.

Once the light went down there was some applause. Pretty quite during the previews and I heard afew negative comments after the Man of Steel teaser. It was lame. lol I have to be honest and say that the crowd I was with was very quite through the movie. No big reactions at all. Only afew people applauded when it ended. I was listening to some of the conversations as we were leaving and bumped into a couple people I knew that were in other rooms and pretty much it was the same.

I know that there was a roaring applause at the end of TDK, and some decent reactions through that film, but with Rises, nothing.

It was pretty quiet in the packed theater. There was clapping at the end. Most seemed positive coming out of the theater. I did hear two separate people that had nothing to do with each other call the film awful, though. I wasn't paying that close attention.

Was anyone else at Colossus Vaughan where the audio didn't play for the first few minutes? People freaked out. It turned back on before Bane's "for you".

Other than that the audience was pretty quiet and respectful during the right scenes and a lot of jokes got laughs. A lot of people got the comic references and stayed until the end of the credits. I really enjoyed opening nights when the crowds are all fans :D

Seems to be quit afew reports coming in about the sound. Our theatre kept skipping. They had it fixed within the first 10 minutes, but it was still annoying.

**spoiler below**

People gasped when they showed the [blackout]tombstone and when Blake revealed his real name.[/blackout]

Applause started well before the end credits, standing ovation and loud cheers once the title card flashed.

I had a great crowd. They applauded at the end. The best reaction to me was
when Bane broke Batman. A lot of screaming and "Awwww!"

Not gonna lie my crowd sucked ass...hoping its better tonight...everybody stood up and cheered at the end though

I would call mine quiet energy...if that makes any sense. I think everyone wanted to catch every line and nuance, that sometime people were afraid to do anything. I noticed several people as the movie progressed were leaning forward in their chair, nervousness and such.

The guy to my left said, "That didn't disappoint."

The couple to my right were upset that they'll never get to see Robin (I fear the girl will leave the guy for JGL if given the chance)

I think overall, the crowd was decent. I think what some of us have to remember is it is a 7 year journey coming to an end. I had just turned 21 when BB came out and now I'm almost 30. You naturally become more subdued at the movies as you get older. I also had an older crowd overall, a lot of people over 40, which was interesting.

Tough crowd for some of you. Anyway, my theater was full. Heard people crying and gasping during
first fight vs Bane while Batman gets his ass whooped, Batman getting stabbed, when he falls during the pit scene, the bomb explosion, Alfred crying at grave site. At the cafe, everyone cheered and clapped. Standing ovation when credits hit.

At the BFI IMAX, everyone was silent, light cheering/clapping for
the cafe scene
and when THE DARK KNIGHT RISES came up I gave a standing ovation, prompting the entire audience to applaud as well #IRegretNothing
Also quite a lot of people stayed until the very end of the credits and clapped as well when the title came up at the very end.

Some people (including me at times ) giggled, some even laughed at Batman's voice when he was beating Bane in at the end demanding the identity of the trigger man. I'm sorry but I had some flashbacks to some TDK parodies and well I giggled.

Other than that it was all good and people gasped when Bane "broke" Batman's back.

I had a guy sitting next to me, whining about the movie the whole time. God it was annoying

IMAX crowd at Regal Pointe in Orlando was fantastic. Met a lot of cool Batfans.

Crowd was really into it... SPOILERS

  • When Batman first appeared on the Bat-Pod.
  • Bane breaking Batman's back.
  • Gordon holding his own in the hospital.
  • Batman and Catwoman sharing a kiss.
  • The Bat-symbol burning ablaze on the Gotham bridge.
  • Catwoman returning to save Batman from Bane.
  • Blake's real first name revealed.
  • Alfred seeing Bruce and Selina at the cafe.

Lots of applause, clapping and it ended with a standing ovation. Every midnight and 3 AM showing was completely sold out.

Also, I wanted to give Michael Caine a hug watching his scenes. I wish he was one of my grandpas. :o

Was anyone else in a theater where people clapped when
Bane broke Batman's back?

I felt like that was an incredibly inappropriate response.

At the end of the movie everyone was sat there waiting for an after credit scene, maybe a shot of the new Batman but nope nothing we got nothing.

Nobody clapped at my theater, I had a few "ohhhh's" of disbelief/shock.

Somebody was wondering what scenes were making people get teary? I'd say most of the ones with Alfred/Bruce.

The whole sequence of Alfred telling Bruce that Racheal wrote him a note telling him she chose Harvey over him, Alfred seeing the tombstone of Bruce. I thought it was incredibly sad. Good acting by Micheal Caine as always. Plus when you thought Batman exploded... I mean as a kid who grew up on the animated series it really sucks to think you see your hero die.

My crowd was awesome. Went to an IMAX screening, sold out. We got there at 9PM and we were about the 16th in line. About an hour later, line was completely packed. Crowd laughed at the funny parts, clapped when something awesome happened, etc. A lot of people stayed for the credits hoping for something, heard one guy yell "AW C'MON NOLAN!"

They coulda shown the Man of Steel comic con teaser at the end... THat would've been neat. :woot:

the showing I went to erupted with clapping at the end. everyone seemed to have enjoy it. I over heard some chick saying to her friend that she's never been a Batman fan, but that she loved the movie.

the group I went with all agreed that TDKR was without a doubt the best film of Nolan's trilogy.

Yeah, everyone went nuts at my theater after the movie too.

I'm not sure which is my favorite Nolan Bat film... I always end up saying Batman Begins. I love the epic adventure of Bruce's origins in it. I'm going to have to see TDKR a couple more times. Takes awhile for things to sink in with me.

Question,

I bought advanced tickets for the NYC Imax in Lincoln Center 13 for the 10 PM showing and I'm planning to be there by 7, is 3 hours ample time to make the line or should I be there earlier? I want great seats, probably anywhere before the first 30 people in line, just wanting to get a feel for how long you guys waited in line for good seats.

Last time for TDK, I was there about 2-3 hours beforehand and was 10th in line or so, but I have a feeling people will be earlier for this one since it is the last of the trilogy, hmmm....

The funniest thing that happened at my screening was as soon as the credits were over, one guy in front of me shouted, "take THAT Avengers!"

Pure gold :D

Some of you guys sound like you had an awesome crowd, shame I cant say the same.

My theater was pretty quiet last night I felt like I was the loudest one there. But once the credits rolled we all gave it a long ovation

My IMAX showing was completely sold out and it got a very warm reaction and a thunderous applause at the end.

First movie I went to where the audience clapped at the end.

Loved it, the energy was so intense.
