While it has not been "officially" announced, director Christopher Nolan will return to helm the sequel. It has been whispered that he has already agreed to a deal to direct two more Bat-flicks. Screenwriter David S. Goyer is said to have already penned a 80 some-odd page scriptment, so his return is very likely as well.

I have faith in Nolan. He isn't my first choice, but I'm willing to give Ledger a chance. Perhaps Nolan feel's he's the right actor to bring forth the story he'll be telling about Joker, through his eyes. With staying true to the character's history hopefully.
