It would be wonderful if the movie stayed at 100%, but that's not going to happen. I predict a rating in the low 90's.
It just showed up on RT as rotten and now TDK is down to 94%."I can’t rate “The Dark Knight” as an outstanding piece of craftsmanship. “Batman Begins” was grim and methodical, and this movie is grim and jammed together. The narrative isn’t shaped coherently to bring out contrasts and build toward a satisfying climax. “The Dark Knight” is constant climax; it’s always in a frenzy, and it goes on forever."

David Denby. THe most NEGATIVE so far.
Tear this guy apart. He has horrible taste. He rates Hancock but not
Dark Knight and Iron man
What? So is it a rotten review? From the official critics review thread in spoilers:
It just showed up on RT as rotten and now TDK is down to 94%.
Lame!![]()
What do you think I meant by "it just showed up on RT as rotten?"What? So is it a rotten review?
Oh lol nevermind, I thought you meant it was good but it got a rottenWhat do you think I meant by "it just showed up on RT as rotten?"![]()
If everyone liked a dark, haunting, disturbing film like this, then there would probably be something wrong with the world. Think about it, everyone has different tastes. Some people want to dislike this movie because its about a comic book character. Other people are going to want to dislike it because it's sadistic and very dark at times.
But me and others are glad Nolan didn't cheese it up and make less of a movie than the characters and story demanded. It seems like he really made the intense film he wanted to make. And I'm sure that is what sticks in people's minds as they leave the theater. If he let up at all, this film wouldn't have the same impact.
So people are going to want to dislike this movie. That is perfectly ok with me, as long as Nolan made the film I wanted. And all signs point to him succeeding brilliantly.
Agreed. Two out of three of the critics who didn't like it aren't even professional critics, just blog critics. So really, does their opinion hold much of a candle to the likes of Peter Travers, Roger Ebert, and other well known, professional critics? The professional ones are the ones who can distinguish their personal taste from unbiased critical anlysis. Also, like you pointed out, not everyone like dark, serious films. A lot of movie goers want mindless fluff. It's why Eddie Murphy films get made.![]()
The Eddie Murphy film point is very accurate. I think that sums it up for me. I just think it's so rare that films like "the Dark Knight" get made when it could have just as easily been another dumbed down action flick.
I really think most of us will look back at this film and think about how truly unique it was. These serious, mature, thought provoking films don't come along often. And it makes it all the more sweeter that it's coming to fruition with intriguing characters like Batman and the Joker.
Yeah, it sure doesOh, and Conebone, do the reivews put your fear about it not being as dark and serious as BB to rest? I still remember you talking about that a month or so ago.![]()
considering the reviews, anything less than iron man's tomatometer would be disapointing
Batman Begins ended on RT with an 84% and a 7.7/10 rating.
I predict TDK will end with an 88% and a 8/10 rating.

That would only fair if the reviewers on RT are always and consistently the same reviewers every time. Since they vary from movie to movie, we can't always accurately and fairly gage one movie to another. So...RT is purely for discussion and for a very very basic guideline for a general movie quality among watchers, but it can't be taken too seriously.considering the reviews, anything less than iron man's tomatometer would be disapointing

For example, Toy Story 2 has a 100% on RT. But that doesn't mean that I liked it more than a movie like Iron Man with a 93%.
